Some weeks ago, One of my cousins living in Isiala Ngwa North was bitten by snake. According to his dad, the boy never told anyone.
Toward the evening, they started noticing some changes on the boy. After a while, he told his parents what's up.

The parents mixed concussion of traditional medicine called Gbomgbombise (pardon me for not spelling well) and other things. After taking it, they thought it will work.

After a while the boy started loosing consciousness, then the parents decided to take him to Abia State General hospital in Aba. Unfortunately for them, go slow was too much and held them for so long in Osisioma, another go slow held them at Okigwe road by then, he has lost consciousness. When they finally got to hospital, they were told no doctor was around, Nurses claim they tried their best but at the end the boy died.

My question now is this,What medicine (Whether traditional or not) could be be administered into someone who has been bitten by any kind of snake to slow down the reaction or even quench it in case Hospital is far away ?

1 - Tightly tie the upper region and lower region of the bite wit a rope to reduce the venom flow into the blood stream...

2 - Cut open the bite area wit a knife or blade and try to such out d venom

3 - place a cut of onions on d region.

NB: Do all d above while rushing the victim to the hospital

Tie the affected part with rope and drink chilled water to slow the venom

Keep the person as calm as possible. Anxiety increases heart rate and increased heart rate will circulate the venom faster to all part of the body. kiss

Keep the part lower to decrease the circulation of the venom.
Tying of a tourniquet is no longer recommended as the part may lack blood supply and die.

If it is a poisonous snake, get a sharp machete and hack that part off.

GET TO A TEACHING HOSPITAL OR THE BIGGEST HOSPITAL IN YOUR STATE FOR ANTI-VENOM IF YOU GET BITTEN.
PAY WHATEVER YOU ARE TOLD TO...... NO BARGAIN.
WITH ULTRA POISONOUS SNAKES LIKE boomslangs, spitting cobra, puff adder etc, YOU MAY HAVE ONLY MINUTES TO LIVE.

Please stop spreading false info. This is serious, someone will actually read this thinking its true and might end up gulping kerosene.

Please dont drink kerosene under any circumstance snake bite or whatever it can kill you.

Was bitten by a centipede last night while alseep and I was really scared also

Thank God it wasn't life threatening

Was afraid that it was a snake

I used hot water to massage the spot to neutralize the venom (because i reseached that night that venom are not heat resistant) but them I very was feverish immediately and felt serious heart palpation

But for snake I don't know

As for that dude that say drink kerosene should be careful of the advice they give on this platform

To prevent this from happening again just carry bitter cola with you any time you are going to the bush or any place that has snakes..

Snakes don't like bitter cola.....

And also bitter cola reduces the effect of almost any poison in the body.

Only carrying bitter cola will chase the snake.

sounds like some questionable advice is being offered. Can people offering advice include some links as proof of authenticity?

I read here that Bitter cola is a natural remedy, perhaps that may be reason snakes dislike it.

Am so sorry for your loss. Yes there are traditional methods one can employ in snakes bites but they r not as effective as the anti venom.
