As a kid, I was too stubborn and do risky things. So, we went to grind cassava as night, back in the village, and there was no light.

Bro, I've been fan of so many snakes documentaries and TV shows... there's no first Aid for Snake bite.

Be calm as possible, don't run, call someone to back you or transport you to the nearest hospital ASAP.

Depending on the kind of snake that bite you, you have a very short time to live.

Puff Ada, black mamba, spitting Cobra... if any of these 3 bites you you have 30-60 minutes max to live without anti-venon.

The worst is black mamba cuz it doesn't bite once, It can strike you repeatedly in less than seconds and each strike it releases venom into you....

That's not true, mamba can be found in numbers in southwest Nigeria.

So unfortunate the boy passed on, but he made a mistake by not reporting and the parents should have sort medicalservices immediately, wasted hours can be dangerous for snake bite, seek immediate medical attention once bitten by a snake. No native remedy for snake bites. Tie off area, allow it to bleed and seek medical attention.

My uncle got bitten by a snake some time ago (I think 2008) in Abuja. Mind you, the snake bit him in front of a hospital here in Abuja. The snake was from a heap of death very close to the hospital.

He killed the snake and got to the hospital and called another relation of ours that he (my uncle) had been bitten by a snake.

This our relation told my uncle to come over to his place which is just a stone throw from the hospital. That the hospital will waste time as it was in the night.

My uncle was given lots of onions at our relations place and a black stone was placed where he was bitten. I was told the black stone was imported from Israel.

My uncle told me that he felt the poison leaving his body as the black stone was placed there.

My uncle is still alive till today. I'm not advertising the black stone but my uncle is in the sitting room as I am typing now.

I have not seen the black stone but this is a true life story.

There are many snakes in my area. I can't identify them by names but I have killed few black and green colour.

I haven't heard any incident of snake bite before cos the snakes run upon sighting people.

I think they bite when they feel threatened.

From what I learned along the way. From here on NL some monthsss ago.... someone made a comment on poisons as if it were common knowledge.... heat neutralizes poisons....and gave a brief explanation.I never ever heard about this... did some research.... and found the person was on point. This made me recall yearss ago while camping in a remote snake infested area we asked the locals what do they do when bitten by a snake. They named the most venomous snakes where the victim victim must be immediately tied to a pole and placed over fire..... kinda BBQ style.... to absorb as much heat as possible over a period of time to sweat out the poison.
With my new knowledge.... I now believe it was really done to neutralize the poison.
My advice now would be to let the victim sweat it out.... the very method I guess was used for thousands if years.

You can grind charcoal, add some quantity to a glass of water and drink. It neutralises any kind of poison.

Bitter Kola neutralises poison as well.

Charcoal is made up of pure Carbon atoms. And nothing about the make up of carbon atom points to healing.

Have been bitten by a black snake before. It was a day I would never forget in my life. It was around 8:30pm. Everyone had finished eating.

Then, my uncle's wife insisted that I go clean all the plates. I told her there was no light. That she should allow me do the cleaning the following morning. But due to her high handedness, I had no choice than to obey her bid.

As I was about stepping into the kitchen, I felt a sharp strike of something like a big keen cutlass on my foot.

With that same effect, I belched out a big moan. And considering the small space of the house, you can imagine how loud the voice of a boy of 15 years could go.

"What is it? What is it? Said my uncle from the living room. While he's asking that, I had picked a race to the living room, put the affected leg on one of the sofars, and trying to understand what had happen to me while I was observing my leg.

I quickly turned to see it was a snake. I quickly informed my uncle.... My leg was tied so hard to prevent the spread of the venom and all. But you needed to see how fat the part below the rope was. It grew big that I was feeling pain all over my body.

As to OP's question, from my research, the best is to apply lime on the bitten part.Definitely, you will have to cut the bitten part of the body. Then place a sliced lime on the wound. You can ask the victim to drink some as well. Another first aid, from my research, is applying of garlic. I was told this does a lot of magic as well. Just the same procedure for lime is what you will follow while using the garlic

Tying the upper region tight has rendered many paralysed. And if the bite is on the back, where or which region would be tied up?

One of the most important things to do after a snake bite is take a picture of the snake or ensure the snake is caught. Knowing the exact snake helps to reduce the stress of guessing which snake committed the act to find the appropriate drugs to apply. So snake the picture and then tie the upper and lower region, use an object to ting the swollen and affected area so the venom discharges. While you cover it with protective neat clothing enroute the hospital after this is done.


The next important thing to do is note the time it occurred. Knowing the time helps in ascertaining the time length the individual has.



If there's no hospital atall. Like in the boys case, after the venom is extracted, he should have been administered red palm oil to drink or coconut water in large amount. For a myriad of poison issues, up to 4 litres of coconut water or palm oil reduces the risk of future risks by atleast 50%. In such cases, given the victim lots of palm oil to drink while sucking out the venom would help

Forget all you're reading here. 4 litres of palm oil or coconut water in the same qua tity immediately dilutes the entire blood stream making it impossible for the venom to flow freely throughout the blood system. Once the blood stream is diluted with palm oil for example, forget it. This buys the victim up to 2 days sef.
