That woman is currently unconscious.. You think she wanna wake up with one eye and disfured face probably brain damage who knows... in a country as terrible as nigeria where the chances of facial reconstructive surgery are slim. What kinda life is she suppose to live? Or do you see people like her living a well fulfilled life.

Shut it there please.

Must she end up in naija?

You think she can't be sent abroad where she could receive adequate treatment?

Instead of starting a gofundme support for her, you are here talking nonsense.

Sometimes, you people are just so discouragingly myopic.

Nonsense. angry

I dont absolve the staff of the hospital from being unprofessional, nobody should abuse anyone coming for help.
But the help was sought in the wrong quarters, which is my point.
Private hospitals should not be given that responsibility to 'do what they can do' in an emergency. Many private hospitals have only a single Dr on duty at night time who is likely just someone who has just finished medical school, mandated to look after their stable patients overnight. Even if those stable patients develop complications overnight, they will be in a very tight situation and should be moved to the government hospitals.
Rudeness or politeness in this particular case will help bruise or assuage egos, but that still hasn't helped the patient.
So if the purpose is to talk about unprofessionalism/rudeness that's fine we can go ahead. However, that still wouldn't resolve or bring solution to the daily problems we see faced by patients in a true emergency- such as delay in receiving appropriate care which will invariably lead to a poor outcome.
This leads again to the question- why were they in a private hospital in the first place?

I am shocked you are talking like this, it shows empathy is dead in Nigeria.

What is the primary responsibility of any hospital, private or public? I had thought it was to save lives or at least to alleviate pain. Are you insinuating that private hospitals in Nigeria are not expecting to provide first aid?

I had also thought the hippocratic oath to which they swear is to save life and alleviate sufferings. I never knew it was to make money at the expense of suffering patients.

The truth is Nigerians most of Dem are wicked, including the ones on nairaland forget, infact most humans are wicked dat is why a simple act of kindness is to be celebrated. I agree with the Bible wen it says the heart of man is DESPERATELY WICKED, we all need to consciously train ourselves daily to show compassion. Yes I mean train cos it's not really inherent. How to Kno u don't have compassion? It's easy everyday u see beggers, amputees, disadvantaged people, hungry kids but by default, u'll just pass. Yes u don't fvcking care. While I was in secondary school, i was going back to school (boarding school) my mum saw me off to the park as usual, she would wait till our bus moves B4 she goes back, while she was waiting one of dos beggers came she was blind and was escorted by a small kid. Wen she begged for money, I gave her 500 naira out of the pocket money my mother gave me, my mum saw it and came wen the woman had left, she was very angry with me because I was complaining in the house, how the money was too small and won't be enough for even one month. She asked if I knew d sacrifice she made in other to bring out dat amount and give to me to go back to school (5k). I had to apologize, besides I was the only one in the full bus to give dat woman anything at all.
So, I Kno it's not the topic on ground but yes most of us are wicked including me sometimes, but I've trained myself to consciously act kindly. It has nothing to do with Christianity or any religion, infact I'm agnostic and will probably soon be fully atheist. So u beta take up the training to show empathy always, not wen convenient.
I'm touched by your story. However don't be an Atheist. GOD EXISTS but many (if not most) of His children are wicked.

This happened to me, I almost cried that day. Instead of people to assist me they started making mockery of me that I wanted to form good Samaritan, I almost cried. Since that day I begin to see every Nigerian differently & vowed to limit the way I help people. If it is not my family blood, that I know that will stand for me, I hardly help anyone. We Nigerians are very very wicked. Reason there is so much suffering & pains in the land. It is because of our mind, very hard & bad.

And if these same people get into governance, would we ever be better?

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.

If the OP could manage a situation like this so effectively with his resources, I see no reasons why he shouldn't be trusted with much. I'm not wealthy but feel the need for us to contribute funds towards the whole legwork and bruhaha

This is a call for us like minds to donate to save this woman and probably help the op plan towards getting a new okada as I feel that okada is gone. 500naira 1000 naira from multiple persons feels okay to request. Wouldn't you agree Sir?

At all my brother
That's the problem we are facing today
Every leader was once a follower
I read a post yesterday when an Australian man said he would have let a snake go if only the snake was not aggressive biting his son multiple times, snake O. How will such a man not help his fellow man? See why they are better than us. Not because of govt, but because every individual is good. I saw the gory pictures op uploaded, how could humans see someone in such state and were still making mockery of d op without helping him? It goes to show how hard our mind is as a people. We can never make progress with such mind

I am an okada man, operating from Orile to Cele bustop highway, I came across a woman lying lifeless on the road, people gathered around her, no one to rescue her or to take her to hospital, all her cloth was stained with blood, I called some people and they put the woman on my bike, we rushed her to primus hospital ijesha, where the doctor were very rude and requested for card money which one woman transferred 3k to the doctor.

Later the doctor rejected the patient and ordered me to take the woman out of their hospital, that the injury is too much, unknowingly to me all the people that followed me down to the hospital have ran away, I refused to take the woman away, the doctor and the held me hostage in the hospital and called ijesha police for me, they came and Seized my okada, insisting that I will take the woman to LUTH hospital by all means, failing to do so I will be held responsible for anything that happen to the woman.

They started making fun of me by calling me, GOOD SAMERITAN, HERO, HELPER , THAT CANT HELP HIMSELF, that is why will i carry whom i don't know on the way to hospital?

I started crying, luckily to me another good sameritan showed, this one is KEKE MARUWA rider, he encouraged me, full of confidence, that he will support me let's take the woman to LUTH hospital with his kekemaruwa.

For complete 5 hours this woman was seriously bleeding, From 8pm I brought her to the useless hospital till 1am Early morning, that was when the Keke man showed, the police refused to assist with their so called TOLL FREE PATROL VEHICLE, I called 911they answer but not show up, me And the keke man now took the woman to the LUTH hospital around 1am with a police report, KUDOS TO LUTH hospital, they rushed the woman to emergency and commenced surgery immediately, me and the Keke man spent like 10k for the drugs and other things that night, in the LUTH.

To the glory of almighty Lord, she is recovering, and the family have come, I be taking back my okada, from the police.

The little I can get the video.
