englishmart: Hey, I usually don't make comments here but this is important to me. From your post, I can see it's time for you to change your church to a more enlightened one - the one where you can get answers to thousands of "why" about God, the Bible, your life etc. You need to hear deeper truths and revelations that will dispel all these thoughts in your mind before they even occur to you. God is real. I leave you with this 3 movies for now - The Perfect Stranger, Overcomer, and The Shack. I hope you find peace with God. 1 Like |

damilarelr: If a wall is cracked and your solution is to paste another layer of plaster over it, that does not mean that the crack is gone. Changing churches does not solve the Op's underlying reservations about the bible. I dare say, you may not even need religion to understand that a "God" exists. On the contrary, the past recorded accounts of events attributed to religion most definitely leads to a conclusion that a GOD like nothing in the holy books exists. I cannot understand a god who would sanction the numerous wars, genocides and rapes of the "enemies of Isra-el", or support the enemies of the Isra-elis when the tables are turned, and allow "his own people" to be raped and pilloried. Help explain this!!! 1 Like |

midnighter: Yeah I was expecting that. That message was meant for the people at that period of time, not for all of mankind. Why would god wait for thousands of years before sending what you claim is the sole way to salvation? What was the criteria for salvation for the people before Jesus? What did Jesus (peace be upon him) himself say about eternal life?: John 17:3 Eternal life is knowing there is ONE GOD and Jesus, whom HE HAS SENT. The way, truth and life simply means he (Jesus, PBUH) has been sent to show the children of Israel the WAY, with the TRUTH and guide them with his LIGHT to the one true God. This can be said for ALL prophets and messengers God sent to all of humanity from the beginning of time. |

k4kenny: Because God was working according to a plan to restore mankind to Him. Its called "Redemptive history" , if youre interested in researching further. The whole thing was part of a greater purpose. The requirements for people living before Jesus' coming are clearly stated in the Old Testament, so I dont know why youre asking that question. Lol are you serious? You quoted one verse out of context just to twist Jesus' words to suit your purpose; is it what Islam tells you to do? Look at the context of that passage. After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: Like I keep telling people on this thread, if you keep picking and plucking Bible verses just to suit your own mentality, you will never get anywhere. Especially when the person can just open up the Bible and check to see that youve manipulated the whole thing and you actually have no point. Just like if I quote the Qur'an from nowhere 56:35 Surely We have created them a (new) creation, 56:36 So We have made them virgins You would simply think you were talking to an illiterate, right? DeepSight: So by extension, you believe that the majority of people would be better off having never come into existence in the first place? God should only have brought people to life after guaranteeing that their lives would be "good", otherwise what was the point? The world is a terrible place. Sure, you can see beauty here and there, but the overwhelming experience of it is horrifying. Whilst some tend to insist that all the evil or negative experience in the world is a consequence of human excess, this is neither true nor sustainable. Natural disasters, diesease, and the very spectre of our mortality speak enough to this point. "The world is a terrible place" by what index? In what way is it terrible? If you acknowledge that human endeavour is at least partially responsible for the "horrifying experience" then is this not more of an anthropological consideration? Natural "disasters" are actually part of natural cycles and form an important part of process. For example bush fires release vital minerals back into the soil and make the land more fertile, which encourages flora and fauna to flourish. Its just unfortunate that living creatures also end up dying in the process (and contribute their own quota of nutrients back into the soil). So to an extent it is more of a neutral process that we happen to be disadvantaged by than pure and intentional "evil". Just nature blowing her nose. Death is a part of life. Plants and animals are beautiful in their own right, yet are at the same time just tasty food for some other animals. Lack of cell death means you have cancer. Life can be chaotic and meaningless, sure. But positioning death, which can actually be argued to be a neutral phenomenon to some extent, as a reason to reject God is a bit simplistic. |

MISHIGAS! englishmart: AN ADULT HEBREW ISRAELITE IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE DEDICATED THEMSELVES TO GOD AT AGE 13- THE BAR/BAT MITZVAH RITUAL- AND THEN SPENT THE NEXT 7 YEARS LEARNING THE WAY OF GOD, AND ACQUIRING HIS SEVEN SPIRITS, SO THAT, BY AGE 21, THEY ARE FULLY READY TO SERVE GOD. Without damnfool questions. They would have learned to read The Scriptures, and filter their Relevant Data from the irrelevant. They would learn not to add or subtract information to distort what Scrpture says. . JOHN 14:1-27. "LET not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2. "In my Father's House there are Mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. 3. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4. "And whither I go ye know, and The Way ye know." 5. Thomas saith unto him, "Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know The Way?" 6. Jesus Saith unto him, "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto The Father, but by me. 7. "If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him." 8. Philip saith unto him, "Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us." 9. Jesus Saith unto him, "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen The Father; and how sayest thou then, 'SHEW US THE FATHER?' 10. "Believest thou not that I am in The Father, and The Father in me? The Words that I Speak unto you I Speak not of myself: but The Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the Works. 11. "Believe me that I am in The Father, and The Father in me: or else believe me for the very Works' sake. 12. "Verily, verily, I Say unto you, 'HE THAT BELIEVETH ON ME, THE WORKS THAT I DO SHALL HE DO ALSO; AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL HE DO; BECAUSE I GO UNTO MY FATHER.' 13. "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name, that will I do, that The Father may be Glorified in The Son. 14. "If ye shall ask any thing in my Name, I will do it. 15. "If ye love me, keep my Commandments. 16. "And I will pray The Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 17. "Even The Spirit of Truth; Whom the World cannot receive, because It seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18. "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19. "Yet a little while, and the World seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20. "At that Day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21. "He that hath my Commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." 22. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, "Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the World?" 23. Jesus answered and Said unto him, "If a man love me, he will keep my Words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24. "He that loveth me not keepeth not my Sayings: and the Word which ye hear is not mine, but The Father's Which sent me. 25. "These things have I Spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26. "But The Comforter, Which is The Holy Ghost, Whom The Father will send in my Name, He shall Teach you all things, and bring all things to your Remembrance, whatsoever I have Said unto you. 27. "Peace I leave with you, my Peace I give unto you: not as the World giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." WHERE DID LORD YESHUA SAY THAT HE WAS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN? He never said anything that even resembled that! In order to make The Gospel seem unreasonable, you first had to distort It, and pretend that It said something that It did not. Can you give example of any other Religion that claims the ability to COME UNTO GOD: THE FATHER? If there were any other Religion that claimed that, we should have heard of them as a possible rival, alternative, or replacement for Christianity. englishmart: YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO READ THE THE BIBLE, BECAUSE YOU HATE GOD, AND DO NOT WORSHIP, NOR SERVE HIM. Therefore, you do not understand Scripture, because you do not practically apply It. We are not Israelites: we are Gentiles. We are not in Ancient Israel, but in the modern World. THE APOSTLES HAVE NO AUTHORITY TO COMMAND THE CHURCH: THEY ARE NOT OUR RABBIS; THEY ARE NOT OUR MASTERS. They tried to pass themselves off as such, and all died as a result. englishmart: THERE IS NO ISSUE THAT PRAYER CANNOT SOLVE. . MATTHEW 15:1-20. THEN came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2. "Why do thy Disciples transgress the Tradition of the Elders? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread." 3. But he answered and Said unto them, "Why do ye also transgress The Commandment of God by your Tradition? 4. "For God Commanded, Saying, 'HONOUR THY FATHER AND MOTHER: AND, HE THAT CURSETH FATHER OR MOTHER LET HIM DIE THE DEATH.' 5. "But ye say, 'WHOSOEVER SHALL SAY TO HIS FATHER OR MOTHER, "IT IS A GIFT, BY WHATSOEVER THOU MIGHTEST BE PROFITED BY ME;" 6. 'AND HONOUR NOT HIS FATHER OR HIS MOTHER, HE SHALL BE FREE.' Thus have ye made The Commandment of God of none effect by your Tradition. 7. "Ye Hypocrites, well did Esaias Prophesy of you, saying, 8. 'THIS PEOPLE DRAWETH NIGH UNTO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH, AND HONOURETH ME WITH THEIR LIPS; BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. 9. 'BUT IN VAIN THEY DO WORSHIP ME, TEACHING FOR DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.' " 10. And he called the multitude, and Said unto them, "Hear, and understand: 11. "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." 12. Then came his Disciples, and Said unto him, "Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this Saying?" 13. But he answered and Said, "Every plant, which my Heavenly Father hath not Planted, shall be rooted up. 14. "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." 15. Then answered Peter and said unto him, "Declare unto us this Parable." 16. And Jesus Said, "Are ye also yet without understanding? 17. "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18. "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19. "For out of the heart proceed Evil Thoughts, Murders, Adulteries, Fornications, Thefts, False Witness, Blasphemies: 20. These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man." THERE IS NOTHING FROM OUTSIDE US THAT CAN DEFILE US- MAKE US "SICK:" IT IS OUR SINS AND INIQUITIES THAT MAKE US SICK. FUNGI, BACTERIA, VIRUSES, TOXINS, AND WEAPONS cannot harm us, no matter how they are applied to us. It is only our lack of Relationship with God that makes it possible for them to hurt us. . JOHN 15:1-16. "I AM The True Vine, and my Father is The Husbandman. 2. "Every branch in me that beareth not Fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth Fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more Fruit. 3. "Now ye are clean through the Word Which I have Spoken unto you. 4. "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5. "I am the Vine, ye are the Branches: 'HE THAT ABIDETH IN ME AND I IN HIM, THE SAME BRINGETH FORTH MUCH FRUIT:' for without me ye can do Nothing. 6. "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the Fire, and they are burned. 7. "If ye abide in me, and my Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8. "Herein is my Father Glorified, 'THAT YE BEAR MUCH FRUIT.' so shall ye be my Disciples. 9. "As The Father hath Loved me, so have I Loved you: continue ye in my Love. 10. "If ye keep my Commandments, ye shall abide in my Love; even as I have kept my Father's Commandments, and abide in His Love. 11. "These things have I Spoken unto you, that my Joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12. "This is my Commandment, 'THAT YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU.' 13. "Greater love hath no man than this, 'THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.' 14. "Ye are my Friends, if ye do whatsoever I Command you. 15. "Henceforth I call you not "Servants;" for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you "Friends;" for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16. "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth Fruit, and that your Fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of The Father in my Name, He may give it you." FOR OUR PRAYERS TO BE ANSWERED, WE MUST BE QUALIFIED TO RECEIVE THE ANSWERS WE WANT. People who do not abide in Lord Yeshua cannot expect him to do whatever we ask in his Name. englishmart: YOU MUST BE REALLY STUPID TO BE INFLUENCED BY WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK. englishmart: THERE IS NO CLAIM OF ANY HOLOCAUST IN 1933! WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT NONSENSE? Adolf Hitler did not become Chancellor until 1933. The SHOAH, or HOLOCAUST, is claimed to have taken place in German Territories from 1941-1945, with a death-dealing of six million Jews. This was never proven. We are told to believe that it did, but no actual proof is ever presented to prove this. Pictures of Mass-Graves and Shootings have been tendered, which, all together, do not add up to anywhere near six million casualities. Attempts by the Officers who guarded the Oyinbos claiming to be Jews, to testify as to what really happened, were denied. Those Officers were executed. Those who said what the prosecutors wanted to hear were allowed. In one case, someone testified that they were burning 1,000-2,000 bodies, to ashes, per day. Cremation experts have spoken up to declare that to be impossible. Sanitary conditions in the camps deteriorated because the war cut the supply lines, and they could not get food or soap. A Typhus Epidemic broke out, that killed as many as 250,000 people. Nobody talks about WHY Adolf Hitler took the measure of imprisoning these people to start with. They were not innocent. Their kind had turned the tide in WORLD WAR I, bringing America into the War, using their Media Control to Propagandize America. They had a plan-of-action, leaked from Russia, but even originally written in Hebrew, stating how they would take over the World in 100 years time. [See: THE PROTOCOLS OF THE LEARNED ELDERS OF ZION. THE INTERNATIONAL JEW: The World's Most Foremost Problem, by Henry Ford.] Adolf Hitler did what any responsible leader would do- and took the people posing the threat prisoner- and tried to keep them alive, while their brethren and their unwitting minions were killing his people. Instead of killing them all, while he had the chance, and zero opposition. THESE PEOPLE FALSELY CLAIMED TO BE THE DESCENDANTS OF THE PEOPLE WHO KILLED THE SON OF GOD AND SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD: HOW MUCH SYMPATHY DO YOU THINK THEY DESERVE? If you knew what these people actually did and planned to do in the future, you would not question God's leaving millions of them to die in the Holocaust- which it turns out never even existed in the first place. Some Christians are able to attain Righteousness, even Holiness, for brief periods of time, so that they can attain and deliver Healing, and other Miracles, but they invariably lose interest in God, once they have gotten what they want from Him. How can God be blamed for that? |

midnighter: Imagine a detective who only makes a decision based only on evidence without considering eyewitness testimonies and many other factors that inform wise judgment. That’s how a scientific atheist is - he has never proved beyond reasonable doubt (either to himself or the community) that there isn’t a God. When you ask a science-induced atheist how something came out of nothing? He dwells on the ‘something’ and ignores the ‘nothing’ until the argument is no longer objective. Once one is an atheist by choice, there is little one can do to change him - that battle is the Lord’s. For the OP, he is a contradiction and his reasoning - a-dime-a-dozen type found amongst who enjoy pleasure, is his drive towards atheism. Happy New Year |

midnighter: The bolded part of your response is exactly what you're doing, in case you haven' t realised it. The bible said Jesus said he's the way the...., that doesn't make him a deity, neither does it mean he's the sole way to heaven. He was sent as means to God for the people at the time. You need to read the earliest history of Christianity. It hasn't always been a trinitarian religion. The earliest Christians didn't believe in what you people believe today. They believe in the Oneness of God and Jesus was inspired by Him. The Trinity was something developed in the 4th century, some 300 years after his passing. In the process, they rewrote and twisted the gospels to fit their trinitarian idea. Why anyone would want to stake their belief on an illogical principle invented by a council of men in the ancient times is seriously beyond me. Put your education to good use and do some research. Use your mind and don't be blind-sighted by emotions. Peace. |

Acehart: Happy new year bro I was busy for some time, am just getting your response now. I will have to say something before I start anything, what I want to say is until we open our mind to question, ask and learn we will not achieve any greatness. Not only In religious matters but in all aspects of life. That Been said, we have assumed alot of things about Jesus and the Bible and we have learnt to tell ourselves what we feel is the right thing to suit our situation at the moment. Jesus said something like I am the truth the way and the light, that who so ever will go to my father will come through me. Right? That was a straight statement from Jesus and we believe it and we don't twist it. Why? Because it's suits us, it's suits what we believe and we don't need any holy spirit to tell us what that means. But statements like this My father is greater than I, I can't not do anything except from my father, all this ones are not direct. In the cases above, we need to find a better explanation to give it such that Jesus will not be junior to God but the same with him.right Cases like cursing the Tree when it was not the season of it to bear fruit, but he caused it and the tree died instantly, all of this and more requires a whole lot of spiritual guidance to understand his action. You see firstly you need to know why you are doing what you are doing and not just because you met it like that or they told you to do it this way or that way. If Jesus said he is not sent to anybody than lost sheep of Israel, it's simple and straight forward no need to look around to justify why you think he is sent to Africans or Americans. Jesus speaks in parables and when he realised that his disciples can't understand him he explains what he meant to them right there and then. If he said something and he knows that we won't understand he will explain like he did in all his parables in the Bible. Let us stop looking for justifications for ourselves. Jesus is of HIgher power he knows what we can understand and can't understand. We need no other things to understand him nor need to fabricate explanation for him. |

midnighter: This is a weird question because if one never came into existence the question of being better or worse off simply never arises. God should only have brought people to life after guaranteeing that their lives would be "good", otherwise what was the point? At the minimum, their lives should be sensible and meaningful, and needless random misery and tragedy should not be a recurring decimal. "The world is a terrible place" by what index? In what way is it terrible? This forces me to assume you are around sixteen years old and belong to a privileged, wealthy and insulated family. If you acknowledge that human endeavour is at least partially responsible for the "horrifying experience" then is this not more of an anthropological consideration? Partially. Only partially. Death is a part of life. Plants and animals are beautiful in their own right, yet are at the same time just tasty food for some other animals. Lack of cell death means you have cancer. Humans didn't invent death - they only invented stories to explain death. Natural "disasters" are actually part of natural cycles and form an important part of process. For example bush fires release vital minerals back into the soil and make the land more fertile, which encourages flora and fauna to flourish. An omnipotent and omniscient God could do better. Life can be chaotic and meaningless, sure. But positioning death, which can actually be argued to be a neutral phenomenon to some extent, as a reason to reject God is a bit simplistic. I haven't rejected God. I only reject the concept of God advanced by society. |

Just like a few other elements on this thread, you are not concerned with any kind of genuine debate, only fustian exchange and pseudo-intellectual posturing which helps no-one and becomes boring after a while. You dont really seek an answer to your question. You only wish to bandy words and fixate on isolated details whilst ducking and diving the main issue in order to appear to have made a point. So respectfully, I withdraw from the interaction and wish you an auspicious and prosperous New Year. |

mrollyB:Yeah you are right, Jesus cursing the fig tree was a prophecy against the temple. The story as written mark is to say that judgement would come against that temple for the true temple of God to be revealed. Alongside the destruction of the temple by the Romans, jesus body was also destroyed by the Romans so that the true temple of God can be revealed. We ( the new body of christ) are supposed to have our bodies as the temples of the living God. ln other words, cursing of the fig tree was just a prophetic act against the temple in Mark's understanding. |
