Please friends. I had someone to help me secure a job in Canada, therefore processing a work visa since September and I didn’t receive a call yet ...

But what do you guys think can be wrong as some of my friends have gone (he did it for us together).

Hello ItzChapel,

You can send IRCC a CSE or email yo inquire about your application. However, work permit can take a while to process and remember, all application ain't the same.

All the best.

Hello everyone!

I have decided on Lambton college for a two year course (Advanced photography). I'm a photographer with enough experience and portfolio. Do I need to apply to more than one school? Because someone told me I'll stand a better chance at the Canadian embassy if I apply to more than one school.

I'm looking at September 2020, is that adequate time to apply and get visa? I will start my school application next week and apply for visa immediately if I get it. So latest February 2020, I'll start the visa processing

P.S: It's a post graduate course and I have a BSc
Applying to more than one school reduces the chances of getting disappointed and doesn't have anything to do with embassy affairs. There is also a lot of advantages applying early it gives you enough time to make plans. I also applied January last year for a September program and that gave me enough time to make my travel plans. All the best...

Any idea? After submitting paper application, can the submitted international passport be replaced by a new passport. The old one will expire soon. How is this done pls
If your passport still as more than 6months validity then don't bother yourself. The visa stamp you will get simply gives you passage into Canada. At the point of entry you'll be given your study permit, at that point you can present your new passport to ensure that the study permit you get correlates with your program duration.

@justmellow, thanks. If passport expires while Visa application is being processed, are they likely to ask for a new passport

Hello Emeify1,

Well, it may depend on the discretion of the VO handling your application.

However, it is at your own peril if you should submit a PP that its validity is near expiration. This may attract an automatic refusal if your PP is not valid at the time of processing. The onus of submitting a valid document rest on applicants and not the VO nor IRCC.

So its best to submit a PP that has its validity beyond the time frame of your application processing.

All the best.

Good morning fam.

I appreciate everyone for their contributions on this platform, I have been a silent reader for some time now and I must admit that I have learned a lot. Thank you so much.

I have a question and I would appreciate your help.

Last year in July, I was in Canada on a temporary resident visa (visitor) for a research internship. The research internship was for a month. This year, I got a scholarship from the Québec Government to undergo a research internship for 4 months from May/June.

However, I am confused on which visa to apply for. While I was reading the requirements on canada.ca of all the temporary residence visas (visit, study and work permit), I stumbled on a line which got me confused "who has not worked in Canada under this exemption in the last 12 months" (I attached a screenshot of the page). Here is the link to the page

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/need-work-permit-work.html

I worked as a research intern (with a $1000 scholarship from my supervisor) from July 15 to August 9, 2019. Now, I plan to go again as a research intern who would get stipends from the Québec Government for 4 months (within the said 12 months). In this case, which of the temporary resident visas is best for me?

NB. The research internship will be at a University in Québec and I applied/will apply for the visa from Vienna, Austria.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

With Canada you really cannot weigh your chances. The most you can do is ensure you follow the right procedures such as;
1. Ensuring the program you apply for shows good progression with your studies and that you have a valid reason for taking the program.

2. Show proper proof of relationship between you and your sponsor.

3. Submit legit documents

4. Ensure you submit your application in a very logical and clear format.

5. Justify your study gaps.

Lastly, pray and hope for the best with a plan B mapped out just in case

Thanks i left school (OOU) 2006 and i have been trying to get reference recently but not successful, firstly was difficult to get their contact and I am full time employee, so travelling to the school and spend few days is not easy, and the one i thought will help did no turn up after several call and physical visit to his office in unilag. I have worked over 10yrs and that's why the master am looking for is course based with professional reference.

Raalsalghul:

Some of us have been through with school for 5 years and over. Lecturers might have died, move on to another school of even if they're still there won't remember you.

You can't just waltz in and ask for a reference from a lecturer, so much explanations must accompany your request. It's quite easier for recent graduates.

This same issue is making think of shelving my application or can you proffer other ways someone might bypass it?
Cc: Jarulecole

That's why there is a Faculty and a Department in every higher institution around the world. The reference letter doesn't necessarily have to come from the lecturer/professor that taught.

All that is needed is to walk to the (your) department and introduce yourself (endeavour to know your mat number and one or two names of the lecturer(s) who took some courses, name of the HOD during your set and be with some cash as per tradition to entail motivation to help). The department would surely assist you except maybe if your record isn't found.

All the best.

The research is less than 6 months so you can proceed with a visiting visa. Just ensure you have proper documentation to present when you apply.

Hello Onyemaxie,

Nobody can guarantee you a clear chance to an approval but the best anyone can do is guide you in filing a good application.

Thus, your intended program is good and you have to give a proper and detailed reasons for further studies after a while out of school. Also, endeavour to provide sufficient proof of your sponsor from his source of funds, proof of relationship to residence permits etc.

He should as well show financial commitments towards the intended sponsorship by either paying your tuition fees or transferring your LE to you or as the case may be.

Do well to show a solid home ties and provisions made that would sustain your family in your absence etc.

All the best.

Hello Shammak,

Since its a short term research internship, you are to opt for the TRV (work permit). You should follow same process you used in applying for the first application, both are short term research internship.

All the best.

Hello MizTyna,

The person gave you a right advise. The more schools you apply to the better the chances for a possible admission, especially for universities. Since you aim at college, you can apply to two schools if your CGPA is good.

To the bolded, I believe you meant to say "better chances for admission."

All the best.

If you still need further clarification, you can as well contact the international office of the university, they would guide or advise you accordingly.

Acknowledged. I just did. If you have applied within 12 months then it means you aren't eligible to apply again for the work Permit exemption. I think at this point you need to contact the research institute and notify them. Perhaps they can have a solution for you.

Departure date is Jan 24 and got PPR today, exactly 3 weeks from this day. Hello Shammak,

I have gone through my previous post in response to your query and found I typed in a wrong word in the bracket. As corrected, its a work permit. Please, take note and sorry for any inconvenience.

However, a visit visa can as well suffice for applicants going for an internship, especially if its not a paid internship or voluntary and it could also depend on the eligibility of the applicant going for such program.

All the best.
