In most countries, it's normal to be focused on your career as a woman. It doesn't mean you're lonely. So maybe these girls just adjusted to their surroundings and maybe they're finally happy because they live in a society where people don't expect them to get married at 25.

Just because you don't understand or agree with a culture or ideology doesn't mean that it's wrong. So just because you don't understand why they are single and career driven, doesnt mean you are right in labelling them as lonely.

If that's your logic, you can label me lonely too. I'll proudly accept

$15 per hour is the minumum wage. That's what moooooost people earn, Nigerians inclusive. On the average, it gets to about $2k per month. But the bills are also expensive. Phone is about $45 per month, rent varies depending on where you live, it is usually about $500 anyways. I think some girls I know are paying $800. Those working better jobs are able to pay higher rent.

But trust me, most will give up all that money if only they can get a guy. Most of them are staring down a tunnel into their future and that future has no kids and no man even things continue the way it is. The chances are very high that the average Nigerian girl immigrant will end up unmarried. Not that it is important that they get married o, but the problem is that they all WANT it.

I don't think it's advisable to dump your immigration dreams because of men, No, never!!
But it's good to get hooked up with someone before immigrating or probably plan it together, it might not bother now but when you must have been so comfortable over there, and as far you've got the plans of making a family and there's no one around you, you might start feeling lonely and resort to what the OP is writing about!!

Lol you’ve just shown that you haven’t been to western world , lived in the west or Have very limited knowledge about living in the west . $3.5k per month is a low salary in Canada below the national average ($50k p/a)which means she’s also on a struggle in Canada . 3.5k in Canada is not equivalent to 980k in Nigeria (purchasing power).

What you said, is the REALITY, even in the US.
U travel down to your community and pick a Lady of your choice, only for her to be turned into a DRAGON few minutes after arrival in the US, all because of FREEDOM.
Most NIGERIAN LADIES who suddenly become Emergency NURSES by virtue of assistance from their diaspora based Husbands suddenly develop EGO.... and can decimate their husbands, rendering them homeless.

IF U get a GOOD WIFE abroad, just keep going for special thanksgiving.

A couple of reasons. They don't know how to approach, since they have never approached a man all their life. Na una Naija guys dey rush them na, lol.
Two, the white guys don't really find them attractive. Some asian men do though. Some Nigerian men also do. But because most Nigerian guys are not stable (i..e they are still working survival jobs), they are not ready to marry.
Trust me , these Nigerian girls are in serious dilemma.

Again, if you are a Nigerian girl thinking of immigrating to Canada. Think twice about it. Be sure that's what you really want.

They are all probably hell bent on strictly dating Nigerian men only or African men only. I’m sure other races of men look at them and they ignore. It was same in U.K. a while ago till they started opening up their options. They should give other races of men a chance let’s see if they’ll still be lonely after that.

How did you know she loved you for you and not your money before marriage? I'm really curious, I don't trust Nigerian girls anymore. I just want my kids that's the reason I'm still considering a proper relationship and maybe marriage else I just see them as prostitutes on per second billing. Same shit in Australia! I think it is largely because, the white folks are no longer into African girls like before. Also, many of these folks do not want MARRIAGE. They only want partners who will cohabit with them and raise kids together.

Asian girls and white girls are in high demand. Our girls, while very beautiful, have a very different culture from the whites.

My cousin in USA gave me this advise when she heard I had plans to relocate. She is now heading to 50yrs.
"If you are in a serious relationship, try to seal it b4 u move," else, you can move, get your papers, come for a visit after a while and trust your male cousins to hook you up for marriage to a good person. Another option is to do surrogate with a donor sperm, have a child, let ur mum or another trusted person train till 4 years and you come pick your child cos school starts at 5 years in ca.

Those guys over there live a very private life and not being related to any of them makes it difficult to accept you, of which most have trust issues if you happen to be a person of colour.

Your only hope of acceptance is from the church particularly Pentecostals but you've got to prove yourself worthy of their trust like being very committed or joining any department in the church... Too bad if you ain't a church goer of which most indulge to kill boredom.

School is a very good avenue to showcase yourself and talent of which you've got to be at the top of your game...before they somehow get to accept you and as for marriage, those guys are afraid of anything beginning with M- word.

Truth is many people that moved there are surprised, disappointed and depressed with what the got upon arrival. Weather nkwanu...is discouraging because you can't put up with the snow for too long.

If you're a student try to have a girlfriend particularly blacks that are citizens before you graduate... It will help you to break the barrier easily and don't be greedy because it will kill your chances...and this is my conclusion Canada is better than US..100times and that's if you want peace of mind.

The positive thing is that they are able to earn well. I met one that was working in first bank back in Nigeria and earning about 120k a month. Now she earns a little over 3.5k canadian dollars on the average working customer service after a lot of overtime. Eyah!
