Nigerians cannot read and this is bad.

Nowhere in the article relates the Kano death to Covid-19 complications. Instead, the deceased were outpatients suffering malaria and other forms of ailments but were denied medical access simply because the government want to use the facility for treatment of Coronavirus disease.

What is happening in Kano State? I suspect that there is a sinister and diabolical cover-up going on in Kano.
All of a sudden, NCDC stopped testing for Covid 19 with the claim that they don't have test kits again. People are dying like fowls and the State government is vehemently denying and playing politics with it.

Ganduje thinks Covid 19 is Politics. He even appointment his daughter as the head of Covid 19 Taskforce in Kano State.

And why is the FGN silent about what is going on in Kano? Why can't they move testing kits from Abuja and Lagos to Kano!? What has happened to billions of naira that were allocated to Covid19?
I pity the poor people of Kano. They don't have a courageous Emir like Sanusi to speak for them

The FGN is obviously clueness, when it comes to Vivid 19 pandemic.

Nothing is happening in kano - does kano have oil? Or gold? What is then the reason for a cover up? In my opinion- the only thing kano has is a proximate market to the desert- the Niger -Mali market - and since it doesn't have anything to give the country and simple social distancing rules they fail to abide by them - then people must die - they should just die their die alone that's all

Let's hope it isn't what we think it is.

It isn't Covid-19 killing them... It's inaccessible health care and treatment due to Covid-19 scare!!!

Most of your Nairaland people can't read to comprehend.

...And the media house that started this panic by calling it "mysterious deaths", well, I have no words for them... Nigeria and Useless journalism!!!

.

They cannot move testing kits from areas also actively testing, who are also in need of more testing kits themselves to Kano.
They need to purchase more testing kits for Kano, and their governor needs to be more active in getting to the bottom of this. He shouldn't just sit down waiting for the FG , becasue by now he should be running around helter skelter for PPEs and testing kits.
It's about to get real, if its covid killing them because I doubt they will be able to control it at the pace their governor is going.

Says who? What do you think is responsible for the deaths here?

Most likely COVID-19 but given their way of life and the absence of formal education among most of them, there will be a devastating effect and possibly an election-like result at the end of everything.

My best guess is that the virus has been spreading in Kano since the case was discovered. They flouted social distancing rules and the managebly educated ones on Twitter started the #NCDCFAILEDKANO hashtag like it was the NCDC that is responsible for all the isolation centers in Lagos.

They are still joking at this point.
This is an assumption just as Nigeria politicians assumed 90% of death to Covid-19.

Read the article again and you will see the cause of Kano death

Was about liking your comment until you said they should move testing kits from Lagos to Kano. On what basis? That we lagosians are less human to kano residents or what? Don't understand.

Was expecting you to say the Federal Government should buy more testing kits instead of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Sigh... Read the damn article!!!

More people are dying around the nation due to inability to access medical treatment for life threatening conditions, due largely to Covid-19 scare!!!

More people will die from negligence to underlying health issues than actual Covid-19...

This is the real issue no one is bothering about... Everyone has chosen to stupidly focus on one virus, and even attribute most preventable deaths to it.

Test center and everyone in it tested positive.. So they had to stop, testing kit is limited tho but they had to stop cos of the mystery of the infection there.. Both normal testing and pcr test came back positive.. Its crazy there NOW

Wow, is this news confirmed?
There is big trouble for the whole of Nigeria then
They should just close down all the borders surrounding Kano, and nobody should be allowed in or out, except for medical aid and personelles.
Only God knows how long it's been circulating round, especially since people didnt take the lockdown seriously.

That addresses only a fraction of of occurrences. You should also know that nearly 200 were buried same day. It is the North and their bodies don't spend two hours wasting before they plant them in the ground. Are we then implying that over 200 people who couldn't access healthcare services had an agreement to die same day? Of course not!

I watched the many videos of the burials and the testimonies of the cemetery keepers. The wave of death suggest something bigger than lack of medical attention. The pattern suggested a plague and knowing that it's the North, the place of autopsy on at least five bodies is almost impossible.

The said cause of death in the piece is merely suggestive.

I can't recall about 200 being buried at once in any part of Nigeria right now despite the limited and almost inaccessible health facilities around, save in Kano.

We have had it worse than this in Nigeria severally and we keep seeing health workers go on strike than ASUU these days. I don't recall mass burial as the one in Kano at any point. Not one.

And u believed that?
It has not been killing them like fowl since.
How many people go to hospital in kano when sick?
How many have access to hospital?
Why did kano stop testing?
And u believed they don't have access to testing kits?

They thought it's business as usual. This will shock the living daylights out of them
What happened in new York, London etc will be child's play.

Lagos started early by taking this serious even though measures can never be 100% effective as obtained in other parts of the world but what did ganduje and his northern counterparts do?
Bro, it's not politics this time.
It shouldn't spiral down to the south. That's my only concern

It's one thing to be experiencing this kind of death with such rate......... and another thing to be ignorant of the causes of these deaths.....it could be that Covid 19 is already sweeping and they are ignorant of this.....

This is still an assumption. It is a fact that since the COVID-19 disease was brought into Nigeria by the so called Italian, most medical centres stopped accepting outpatient. A neighbor of mine was seriously sick and was taken to hospital (in Abuja here) but the hospital rejected him, thankfully we had to administer malaria and typhoid drugs on him before his health was restored.

What killed the 150 is poor medical service not Covid-19

But a good number of death is as a result of other sickness which detoriate due to lack of medical care......every sickness now is tied to coro. Stigmatization is preventing private hospital take in coro

FG should just equip and a credit all private Hospital to test and treat this coro so that people can walk into the hospital and get treated........it hi time they stop this figure release notice every 10pm. It does not make any since. The virus has come to stay with us like HIV virus. Going out without face mask and crowding up should be made an offence similar to murder .....and whoever is apprehended should be imprison for weeks. Then it will done on sturborn jackers that they need to prevent community spread.

Until the vercine is invented, I fear what will befall Africa

May God be with our brothers and sisters in Kano. And give their Macho governor, half of the wisdom and compassion of Wike, to lead and protect the people.

When Wike was shouting some were playing politics supporting a Federal Goverment that could not even protect its Chief of Staff, ranting about oil that is worth nothing today.

Today they are silent, sentiments are grounded, today they are running around seeking to do what the Governor of Rivers State was doing back then. Covid 19 is fast becoming a great tutor and indeed an examiner of competencies, visionaires and leadership everywhere it berths.
