RuudVanNisteroy: What you have failed to see is they are being pressured. The board already did their investigation so the pressure being placed is to get an investigation which comes to the "right" conclusion. Hence why Munchin is making this suggestion because they alteady have their script ready 5 Likes 1 Share |

fallout87: The bank has an ethics committee headed by a Japanese guy that did the investigation The question is why does that committee exist? The American Executive director Steven Dowd is opposed to Adeshina continuing. My view is even if he leaves a Nigerian should replace him 4 Likes 2 Shares |

omonnakoda: To stand up to the US, just give them their funds back. Shikena! In the US, everything is investigated. Sorry it rubs you the wrong way, but one would think Africans would welcome investigations, given how their funds are pillaged by those in power. Please read the below from the report: "Regarding the TAAT initiative, a funding programme for Africa’s agricultural sector, Adesina discusses at length the payment, which the whistle-blowers consider to be suspicious, of a negotiated contract of over $5m inked with Syngenta, a Swiss seed company. Although the conditions under which the contract was awarded did in fact violate the terms of the agreement signed by the AfDB and TAAT, the Nigerian bank boss claims that the primary purpose of his intervention was to protect the bank’s reputation, as it had received threats of legal action, and to ensure both the quality of the project and future compliance with contractual rules." 8 Likes 1 Share |

They obviously don't like that he is doing well Trump appointed his daughter and son in law into positions with above cabinet level powers (Kushner practically runs the government), where has Mnuchin criticized Trump for one day? Your days are nunbered in office. If you like refuse Adesina, the most effective AFDB head ever, in November you'll all be voted out Azzwholes. 30 Likes 2 Shares |

omonnakoda: That might be newsflash in your part of the world, but it's regular in most developed societies. When conflict of interest is possible/likely, independent prosecutors/investigators are chosen to remove all doubt (cue even Trump and Mueller). If Adesina has nothing to hide (and I think he doesn't), then he should let this go ahead. The board of governors still have to act on the report. 6 Likes |

Yankee101: Were, the most effective AFDB head ever? Have you read the report? No, you just come here and spew nonsense. Trump's kid/in-law are advisors, and every president can choose as he wishes? You want Mnuchin to talk against his boss, like the Adeshina (wailers) talks against Lai Mohammed and Buhari? Again, were! 4 Likes 1 Share |

If adesina leaves, another nigerian should replace him.... The allegations are just bizzare and ridiculous...... Allegation like giving too much loans to African countries.... They accused him of employing too many Nigerians.... They also said his right hand man is nigerian..... Nigeria is the largest shareholder in afdb...not France....not America... If not for the empty heads in abuja....afdb is a good tool to control other African countries..... Adesina has done well to decentralised the operation of the bank, making it difficult for France to control it from Paris.... He may have his faults but what's going is simply corporate boardroom politics.... Everybody want their man in charge..... Nigeria should maintain their stance.... These foreign countries can't do without africa..... Call their bluffs...they will always come back.... 27 Likes 3 Shares |

It's a tussle between AFDB and IFC/World Bank. AFDB is taking a lot of deals away from IFC because they are cheaper and more flexible, I believe. 15 Likes 1 Share |

This is bullshit. I'm not from SW but this man has so far been a shining example of good leadership. I am more willing to believe this is a smear campaign that the US is propagating because he doesn't bend to their will, and Bubu is supporting because Adesina is not from North Central. I certainly hope he is not guilty of what he's being accused of, brought down by two men (Trump and Buhari) whose administrations are star examples of nepotism and favoritism. 6 Likes |

Yankee101: That's all the president's prerogative. He has the right to choose his advisers without approval, senior or junior. Cabinet level folks need Senate approval. No law is being violated. If you know share it; else, shut up and go read the Ethics committee's report. 3 Likes |

Just wondering, can the Nigeria Ministry of Finance investigate or order an investigation of the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve Bank? The United States and the World Bank are development partners to the AfDB, and as such their powers ought to be limited. Africans need to take ownership of their institutions and issue strong warnings to these development partners. Persons who are always at the forefront of African development are taken down by the western powers through their proxies, for example, Patrice Lumumba, Muammar Gadaffi; and other African leaders watched helplessly as this went on. The Chinese are not left out. Africa, when shall we get it right? 13 Likes 1 Share |
