The issue now is , what can be done to remedy this situation ? My opinion , both parties split the losses , though hotdealz ought to be saddled with it squarely because his ad though technically factual was construed In a way to suggest maximum guarantee on the batteries condition . |

Although, I am currently in the school of MIND MY BUSINESS on NL however I will advise hotdealz to refund the customer. I will also advise him to apologize to him as I feel this issue shouldn't even get here at all. Collect your ba3 back and count your lose and PRAY FOR GRACE. I want him to know am not taking sides BUT if I deliver a brand new item to a customer and he / she says item is faulty/ defective even after 3 days... my brother, I will start shaking not because of the money but because of my reputation. Because of my peace of mind. Because of wahala. This is my own input. Please dont take this seriously(so you wont see me as your enemy)as you are different from me. D4donnn: 5 Likes |

McMayor: With that you've earned my respect , the sole reason why I'm suggesting they share or bear a part of the losses is because , the amount compared to the profits is quite puny , factoring the cost of returning the batteries and all that . I'll still implore hotdealz to reach an equitable remedy with the otherguy ( I forgot your name no offense please ) . Because the primary reason why I easily buy deals here even with the recent inflation in prices is because of rest of mind and knowledge that , what I'm buying is either as advertised or that I can easily reach out to the seller if issues arises after sales , that's something jiji and other classifieds can never give you . And this reputation thingy is very important there are some persons in the group that I don't see myself buying from no matter mouth watering their deals maybe because I no want an ( OYO ) situation , but that's by the way . I'll implore both parties , to try work something out because from all indication these batteries are defective and no one would pay for something bad anf not expect an immediate refund 2 Likes |

spartacus11:He paid for the battery on the 9th of May. He collected them on the 13th of May so I had enough time to test. That's why the batteries are at 100%. The battery has no fault. They are all detected in bios, also drains and charges normally. Note that he collected the battery on the 13th of May and complained on the 26th of May. That's 13 whole days. Now for those 13days I don't know the kind of abused the battery might have gone through. I sold alot of those batteries with laptops and chargers I sold many of the battery mostly right here on nairaland And no one complained at all. If several people had complained about the batteries, I would have concluded that the batteries are defective. 1 Like |

McMayor:It doesn't even take upto 5hours to know a bad battery. OP paid on the 9th of May, collected the batteries on the 13th of May and complained on the 26th of May. But he's now making it look as if he just got the battery and they are not working. I will never sell anything to anyone without me testing it. Important fact: OP has experience in this battery cos he personally uses the battery and this means he also uses a Dell laptop that's compatible with the battery Is he trying to say he collected the batteries and didn't bother to test them on his own laptop to know if they are faulty or not till on the 26th of May? |

I told you that I tested some which was 3. And noticed dey we're fully charged. And it's not possible for me to drain all the battery and recharge as 1 will take almost 20hrs on full brightness and internet on. And due to the fact that these people are from different places. They came at their convenient time to come and collect the battery from me. And not all of them dey here. U can imagine sending to ogun state with my money. Customer saying battery no take charge. Told him to keep charging that it might work. Send back to me. Still waybill on me and u expect me to stay mute and cover all the loss hotdealz: |

Just to send ordinary battery to ijebu ode. D drive took 1k. So all those money wasted on transport n waybill are not even part of the amount stated. But you just being non responsive wen I told u to cover part of the money and me covering part is uncalled for. I initially didn't no any third party. Nah u say u dey sell. After issue happened u said u bought them from someone. Fine then let's split loss into 3 equal part. U talk say no money. Oya dey drop 500 naira everyday till ur part n ur supplier part complete still no money. So I believe it's not about not having money. It's about you not wanting to pay at all. 2 Likes |

13 whole days is a long time to make complain about a battery. most laptop parts like battery and hard drives has a maximum warranty of 3 days.maybe u have a different arrangement with the seller. 1 Like |

Hmmm... This issue is somehow that I don't know what to comment but this is my own experience. We recently recruited some newbie programmers for training purposes so we needed laptops with outstanding battery performance. Hotdealz was contacted. Base on my previous transactions with him, I was confident to buy from/through him and he suggested Dell latitude e6430 with the extra attachment battery said it would give roughly 20hours batterylife. Hotdealz supplied us 50 units of the laptops and the extra attachments batteries with 130 watts chargers. I asked him for warranty because they seem too cheap (laptop plus dual batteries not costing upto 100k each?) and I have come to know that hotdealz doesn't own most of the things he sells but he describes them just the way they are and always delivers. He gave me warranty base on two conditions which are; * You must only use the chargers I supplied with the systems. * Avoid draining the batteries to 0% as it is not a good idea to do that. It's over a month now and the laptops and attachment batteries (the ones Jefferyzz is having p with) are still working as expected. We did not experience any problems with them at all. We bought 50 of it! 4 Likes |

My own is I told you I'm not the one using these battery and they are for different people before pay and I call you to tell you I have the money with me plus it's not possible for me to use 6 batteries. Plus I didn't go to ibadan the day I received the battery. I was in Sango because I have other things to do in ikeja for like 4days after I got the batteries. N wen I got back I distributed them to those who paid me. One guy told me he used it to 30% from 100 n wen light came he plugged and didn't take charge. Others only said dey met 0% on the battery n me sef don check 3 of the batteries which I saw 100% on it. Definitely the battery discharged itself. |

Jefferyzz: Solid points. Seller should meet with buyer & test together to ascertain the condition of the batteries. If it turns out batteries are bad, seller can't escape not losing here. If the batteries were purchased with a receipt, I'll still suggest both buyer & seller does the testing at the Alaba store. |

Thank u. He gave u those conditions. He didn't say anything. It was even after some I bought had issue he latter said nah 90wh b d recommended charger. N the battery which I personally bought I have been using my PCs charger which is 130Wh and av been using for over 4months and nothing happen. If u're a charger expert. U will know that all dell charger comes with 19.5V which is d most important rating. A 90wh charger PC will take a 130wh charger if it's also19.5v, nah amps just different by few ratings. Eg 4.5 to 7.4 or so And wen I called his attention to the dead cells, he told me he didn't get me a warranty and no return is allowed. Did he tell me this wen I dropped 72k. No omotolsy:

Jefferyzz: This attachment is just wrong on all levels. Why do we do these things to ourselves in Nigeria Are we cursed in this clime of the world? So just because buyer didn't ask for warranty means he can get a bad product & nothing can be done about it? @hotdealz am sorry but no matter how u try to paint this, this is synonymous to SCAM. Its evident from your screenshot you want to leave the buyer hung to dry which is inhuman coming from a legitimate businessman. Do you think if u had given him a warranty in the 1st place he wouldn't have informed his clients to test run the batteries as fast as possible? I feel he bought from you based on trust dat you deal on our Offerup thread. One thing I hv come to realise this Corona period is how dishonest sellers can get & are so quick to reap ppl cus things hard for them but they forget we all in it together (E Hard For Everyone!). So pls @hotdealz try & come up with a better solution so as to always keep your name clean cus a simple search of your name on Nairaland can make one ruin or gain alot. Cheers 3 Likes |

Jefferyzz:A knockoff charger also state 19.5V but this whole thing is not even about charger as I was only trying to know where the problem is coming from cos I personally tested those batteries and I'm 100% certain they are all in perfect working condition. |

hotdealz:guy from everything you are saying you don't have any plans to even share the losses. Deep down in ur heart you know the truth. As a good business man, it's not always about again but about name. Forget the days he reached out to complain. In February I sold a laptop as TLC. Mikky sent a video and pictures of the laptop working when he picked it. I sent the same to the person that bought it before he paid. Laptop got to Nigeria the guy wasn't in Lagos so he asked I drop it off to someone which I did. About 15 days later the guy called and told me laptop is not powering on and he has tried different chargers. He did a video of the laptop and sent to me on Whatsapp. The first question I asked was why are u just telling me this after how many day and he told me he just got the laptop that day. I asked him to show me the charger that came with laptop and he did I found out it's not original charger that came with the laptop but a tv charger. Charger was switched at mikkys pick up place. I asked so what do we do and said he don't know. I asked him to send the laptop back to me to Abuja. Sending the laptop took another 3 weeks again. When I got the laptop I noticed the laptop has bn opened and I asked him he told me yes he took it to his engineer to fix and he told him it's a motherboard issue. I said okay took it to my engineer he said the same thing. I messaged him and told him to send his details so I will refund him. Why am I telling this story? is not to claim anything but to show you that I could have claimed he didn't tell me on time (as u are doing now) maybe he has spoilt the laptop within that 15days, or I can claim his engineer spoilt the laptop. I could blame Mikky because the charger was switched at Charlse’s place but I didn't because (1) I have come to understand that in business u don't win always. U win some and lose some. (2) ur name is ur business and that I have a name to protect and (3) because the guy is my customer. He has bought laptop from me before as tlc. Pls go and settle the guy he came back to u because he trusts u and what u are doing now u are just chasing him away. Bad reviews are not good for business especially on this nairaland 8 Likes |

Sorry i do not believe you. Do you know why? Your moves from inception(your advert). Work with the buyer on how you will refund, if you sold perfectly working units to the buyer and he is coming up with irrelevant excuses then its a different case. hotdealz: |

hotdealz: You're confusing me more abi na me no Sabi English. u said and I quote from your first writeup. "When I asked for written warranty from this seller, he said he doesn't accept returns that I should test the battery before buying. I did tested all the batteries by draining them on laptop and recharging them to 100% with genuine Dell charger before I paid for the batteries meaning you drain all the 6 batteeries and charge them back to 100% before paying the seller and leave the market.. How did you do it? Your response He collected the batteries on the 13 from 9th he paid, tland you have enough time to test that why the batteries are at 100%. How come what you drain and recharge before paying turns to what you have to charge and test at home from 9th before sending to him? meaning you're not telling us the real truth cos I am.not seeing any corellation between the question and answer There is probability that you're the one who abused those batteries or those batteries are fake/bad No one complain but u said someone in ogun state too complained about the battery. For you to say you're not paying anything is wrong. meaning you know what you're doing from the start. Pay him his money and move ON cos of karma. 2 Likes |

Re: Dispute Resolution Thread [For Pickup/Deal Hunting & Other Issues Alike] by hotdealz(m): 1:26pm On Jun 07, 2020 |
suco01:some of the batteries has 50 - 70% already in them. I drained the battery not to 0% by checking the rate at which it loses charge then I plugged them till they are fully charged. Yes I am the one that said a particular guy complained. But that very guy at the point of sale, I saw his charger that it was not original dell charger and I almost begged him to buy original dell charger which I have right there for sale but he believes I just want to sell charger so I explained to him how to know a genuine Dell charger that he should buy it elsewhere but this dude still went and charged the battery directly with his knockoff charger and the battery got bad after roughly 3 weeks. If you believe I can abuse the batteries but don't believe the OP buyer can abuse the same batteries, then that clearly shows you are being bias. |

cupid4ig:The problem you talked about with mikky has nothing to do with the buyer. I also paid for a laptop with mikky. He advertised the laptop as HP Elitebook 850 g2 brand new open box. A customer paid me, I paid mikky that same day I went to pickup the open box laptop so I can quickly deliver to it to my buyer and discovered the laptop has alot of scratches far from brand new and also a lower model from what mikky advertised. Mikky did nothing about it saying he got it like that from his Japanese supplier. I had to borrow money to refund my buyer cos he refused to accept the laptop saying the scratches are much plus its a lower model. Note that I complained same day to mikky o not a different day. 1 Like
