Look at this one. Do you want to expose yourself or what?

I was looking at that Soweto pictures, i.e. a ghetto by SA standards and I was appalled on realizing that it's more beautiful than Ibadan, Abeokuta and other relics in the SW grin grin

Please respect yourself and don't allow them to know about your "heritage" cry cry
If at all any region in Nigeria ought to be more developed and well planned, it meant to be the Ibo region most part of that region was destroyed in a civil war not more than 50 yrs ago, so the oldest structure or building in Ibo land should be abt 40-50 yrs old but you see Ibadan, Abeokuta etc are ancient cities which were built even when South Africans were still second class citizens in their space so keep quiet and respect ancient Yoruba civilazation. When we are ready to rebuild those cities, we would still preserve some ancient buildings.

In terms of organisation, Lagos is not a model city. Talk about transportation, environment and general infrastructure. I haven't been to Jo Burg, but my mom has... I've been to bigger cities in Europe as I studied in Germany. I have also been to a few African countries as well. While we are not competing, you need to understand that organisation is what makes a city called a city. I lived all my life in Lagos, and I can tell you Lagos is very dirty, if not for trade and commerce, it would be a very bad idea to live here.

PS: Next time be polite... I don't want to insult anyone as I love to debate intelligently. Please let's respect each other.
IF any SA cities have just half of the pressure Lagos is dealing with it terms of population and mass migration from Ibos and Hausa/Fulanis which in turns has a massive negative effects on public infrastrutures trust me their cities will become. If you check the population of Johannesburg it about 6million and Lagos is more than 20 million and even smaller than Johannersburg in term of land mass. There is no way Lagos can be well organized if migration into Lagos is not controlled, Lagos used to be well organized when we had regional government in 1950s.
If you read thru their tweets, they are blaming high migration of Nigerians into johannesburg which is true. Even New York City, NY population is not half of Lagos population and NY is very dirty. So organisation also has to deal with controlling the migration of the people.

just swallow your ego and kiss the truth,

there's absolutely nothing to brag about any city in Nigeria..

villages in oil producing countries are far better than the unplanned centers you call cities here..

You need to work on yourself. Every Nigerian can live anywhere. Let the relevant agencies be functional and all will be fine.

New York is dirty my friend. one thing is for a city to be populated, another thing is for the government to be able to control the population. How do you expect Lagos not to be dirty when Fulanis from the North and even the ones in Niger Republic will load theirselve and with okada straight to Lagos state, Ibo also mass migrates into Lagos state everyday. When the Lagos state and Yoruba government can not control the mass migration and population, how do you want the state to be well organized. I challenge you, mention one city in the world that has uncontrolled mass migration, same or close population with that of Lagos that is not a mess?

my friend we need to divide Nigeria make everybody stay their region and develop am. Nigeria as a whole is a big shithole because of this one Nigeria mentality. When we had regional government, every regions were well organized now look how they are messing Nigeria up because of one Nigeria. Honest questn to you, do you even know who are the Nigerians?? Someone from Chad or Niger republic will cross border in the North, the next thing he is riding okada in Lagos because every Nigeria can live anywhere. Oduduwa Republic needs to wake up and exit this shit country called Nigeria.

New York is dirty. System failure led to mass and un controlled migration. When we had self rule in 1950s, cant you see how well organized Lagos was? There was no mass migration because other regions were also developing too. No amount of infrastructure you put in Lagos state that will not make it what it is, the system that needs to be fix is the mass migration in to Lagos state and the total control of the wealth. Tell me, what is the system failure you are talking about other than the total control of ones space??

what about other cities in Nigeria, are they better than SA cities? Forget all this you're saying, we have failed to build our cities.. From infrastructure, to Tourism, urban planning, Electricity.

Even the 20m Lagos population was a mere estimation. The system has failed period!!

It's better they keep insulting Nigeria abroad like this. Maybe that's when youths will wake up and direct their anger to the thieves in political offices stealing money and not working...

Let's say the truth, waste management in Lagos is messed up big time. Lagos isn't coping at all in that aspect. In my area their LAWMA trucks don't even get into our street so people have to burn their waste, leaving smoke and residue behind. No waste bins on sidewalks, roads don't meet basic standards, electricity is abysmal, healthcare is poor. Why won't they insult us? No country respects us apart from Liberia and Sierra Leone... E get why.

Oga, leave politicians aside, is it politicians that told you to throw away your satchet of water nylon or bottle water in the gutter? How many times have you not liter the road? It's a regular occurrence here in Nigeria and all of us have cultivated the habit of doing so.

Infrastructure in Nigeria is zero and the other thing is lack of maintenance culture to maintain and keep the little ones that has been done, just come to Abuja, you would be amazed if this is truly the capital city of the giant of Africa, there's no single spectacular structure or thing in the whole Fct .

I know you're South African and I have bashed you on a thread before, but on this, I won't even deny that Lagos is a very dirty city. Yes, we need to start fighting for our society to be better... Just remember that regardless of this, if your people still try to kill Nigerians in the name of Xenophobia, it wouldn't end well for you guys. Nigerians in SA will defend themselves, legal or illegal migrants.

Peace.

It was a bad idea for me to continue living there so I quit finally in 2003. Haven't looked back ever since. Thank goodness I have an organisation that spares me no more than three days at a time in that city. I know I have extended my lifespan by a few years after the fact.
