CHAPTER SEVEN

The night was chilly and calm, the moon up in the sky provided light for the people. Bari paid the Keke rider and stepped into the eatery, she scanned the inside with her eyes until her eyes rested on the person she came to meet, she smiled and walked to the table.


"Hello Mr Jay" she called out with a smile, extending her hands for a handshake.


"Welcome Bari, please have a seat" he said after shaking hands with her.


"Thank you" Bari replied sitting down. she dropped her bag on the table and smiled at her client again.


"So, what would you like to have?" he asked her signaling to the waiter.


"Just water, i already had something to eat earlier before now" she muttered.


"Okay, you heard the lady, get water for her and i will have one packet of chivita juice, thank you." The waiter nodded his head and left.


"So, how many models am i to sew clothes for?" Bari asked, leaning forward on the table.


"Oh yeah, ten models, and i want something extraordinary from what i have been getting from other fashion designers. I have not worked with you before, someone recommended you to me and i would want you to impress me" he said all at once.


"I got you, Jay. No need for a long talk" she chuckled. The Waiter arrived with their orders and left immediately they were dropped on the table. Bari opened the water and drank cautiously to avoid dropping even a little, on her body.


"I will have the materials sent to your fashion home tomorrow so that you can start work immediately" he said before gulping down the juice.


"At your service, sir. that is why am a designer, to start work immediately the materials are been sent to me" she chuckled again.


"You know? you really need to come to the agency one of these days, you have a great physique and you will go far in the modeling agency" he smiled at her.


"Naaaaah, i will pass" Bari laughed.


A lady walked up to them, anger written all over her face, she eyed Bari briefly before turning to Jay. "Is she the slut that has been keeping you busy and away from home?" she barked. Bari turned to know if anyone heard what the woman had said.


"She is just the designer i contacted for my new show, don't be insensitive" he hissed.


"Okay, i think i should be on my way home now" Bari said standing up.


"You are going nowhere, you LovePeddler" She grabbed the water and emptied it on Bari.

Bari's eyes opened in shock, she flinched looking at her hands where the water had dropped, she touched her neck and when she realized that the water actually soaked some part of her body, she shrieked "Noooo, oh my God, am in trouble" she grabbed her bag and ran out.







"10 more minutes, Lina, and am out of here" Daniel muttered softly, staring at his wrist watch. He rested his back fully on the chair and fixed his eyes at the entrance of the eatery. Someone came in, a skinny lady who was on a short flay gown, her skinny legs were so straight and beautiful. The blue hill shoe she wore matched with her blue hand bag. Daniel watched her till she got to the table at the extreme, shook hands with a man who Daniel hadn't noticed till that very moment and then sat down.


"Wow, she is beautiful, so skinny, just my spec" he muttered to himself with a smile. He looked at his wrist watch again, "5 more minutes" he muttered with a nod and took his gaze back to the door, again, an angry looking woman entered, looked around and walked to the table where the skinny lady had sat earlier.


"Show about to start" Daniel chuckled. He didn't hear or make anything out from their conversations, then the skinny lady stood up and in twinkle of an eye, the angry lady emptied the bottle of water on her. "ouch" Daniel muttered and decided to leave, the skinny lady shrieked as though hot water was poured on her. Daniel blinked his eyes in surprise, if he hadn't seen when the water was brought to her, he would have thought the angry lady poured undiluted acid on her.


"Nooo, oh my God, am in trouble" Daniel brows burrowed in confusion as he watched the drama unfold. The skinny lady ran out and Daniel followed suit immediately.


He found her outside, close to a white Range Rover sport, scratching all over her body and crying at the same time, she could be mistaken for a mad woman with the way she scratched furiously, then she sniffed, ransacked her bag briefly with her right hand while scratching her body with the left hand. She brought out a bottle, opened it, smeared it in her hand and applied all over her body.


Daniel moved close to her, his face portrayed mixed expression, from pity to shock and then confusion. "Hello" he muttered. she stared up at him and wiped her tears.

"Am fine" she replied walking away.


"Wait, let me give you a ride, at least" Daniel said walking behind her.


"Don't worry, i will be fine" she replied casually.


"You can't get a cab by this time of the night and the junction is far from here, you can't trek it" Daniel shrugged. She stopped, turned around to stare at him. Daniel smiled, he had gotten her attention.


"Where is your car" she asked with a sigh.


"This way ma'am" he smiled walking to his car, he opened the door for her and closed it when she had gone inside.


"Where are you headed?" he asked when he had joined her.


"Nibo junction" Bari replied through clenched teeth. she looked at her hands briefly before taking her gaze to the road.


"Something is wrong with you, isn't it?" he asked as he drove out of the premises.


"Nothing is wrong with me, am fine" She barked.


"I witnessed everything that happened, okay? from the way you shrieked when that lady poured water on you, to the way you ran out and the way you furiously scratched all over your body as though you were bitten by a group of bee" he spared her glance.


"You saw nothing, Mr, am fine" she sneered at him.


"You can confide in me, are you scared of the water?" he asked calmly.


"Am allergic to" she closed her eyes, let out a full breath before saying "water" it came out as a whisper.


"There is no allergy as that" Daniel replied Swiftly taking a turn to the left.


"What do you know?" she hissed.


Daniel sighed, pulled a complimentary card from the pigeon hole of his car and thrusted it to her "I am a medical and i think you need medical help. Come over to the hospital tomorrow let's talk about it"


"You are a doctor?" she asked staring at him for the first time since she got in the car.


"Yes, and i would like it if you visit the hospital tomorrow, you need help" Daniel replied with a smile. She nodded and looked away.

Oh my, this must be aquagenic whatever. my elder sister has it, such a terrible sickness that makes one scratch like a mad woman whenever she comes in contact with water.
