Dude
You have to build up your profile and create a thread with your portfolio (your works), then tell your customers to drop reviews.
And remember to spam threads with advert wink
A simple background check can save someone from being scammed. Probably one of the reason I like NL, the digital footprints on this site can’t be easily erased, probably why most people add letters to their numbers and all, not calling them scams, but they don’t want to be traced

Since everyone will "japa", let us all go back to trading by barter.

You don't identify a problem and say "because of this problem, I will not develop in my ways of doing things". You identify the problems and find solutions to it.

My solution is to create a trusted third party for Nairaland transactions.

Like others have said here, I will not allow negativity to keep me down. You should do that too.

Problem you have is that you dey see criticism as discouragement and hating .. what I am trying to point out to u is that deal that are meant to go wrong will surely go wrong in as much as one of the parties involved is 'shady'.... go to phone sections and see many escrow deal go wrong.. even in developed country, deals dey go wrong through escrow except the escrow/picker na .certified company... now u dey here dey yarn paupau... sha dey careful sha, make your "good heart" no turn to wetin dem go dey stample

Lol, when I saw where Sweetness said she paid 2k, I smiled in my heart but I was also like, money is money and it's never fun losing it over useless things or useless ventures no matter how small the sum, especially if you are not swimming in dough like Aliko Dangote.

But this whole drama has reinforced for me, the need to be honest even in small things. See as this Sunny guy just cast on top 2k grin money that will finish within 10 minutes in Naija. Smh

I completely understand how she feels. Sometimes, it's not even the money but the pain of being duped.

Exactly, a person who is faithful in little will be faithful in much.
As in ehn, the guy is just thoroughly useless. His strategy was to go for a low price as a bait and get interest from multiple people. 2k multiplied by 7 people is already 14k. Bloody thief. There are so many of them here unfortunately - from yahoo guys 'hustlers' to e-beggars to scammers. Na wa! I don't know how they sleep at night with the number of automatic curses that follow their actions.

Very true.

I tried setting my company up as an escrow service a few years back. Especially as I also run a delivery service in Lagos, it seemed like an excellent option.

I recieve the goods from the seller, I hold on the payment from the buyer and I deliver to the buyer once everything is confirmed before forwarding the payment to the seller.

I gave up as people didn't seem interested in it. Maybe I'll try again.

Oh! People are very much open to the escrow services now

Tufiakwa. Some Naija girls and their entitlement mentality. I pity you oo.

Thats why getting a husband has been so hard for you.

Thats why you are in your fathers house turning to "Aunty Gwegwegwe"

I don't know why some of you are always looking for avenue to exploit peoples kindness. Any hoo... it depends on people you meet. Because left for me, I will teach you a lesson forever. Na today?

This same mentality is what a stupid girl I took out last week in my kindness tried on me and she learnt the bitter hard way.

She said if I can help drive her to shoprite and pick bread on my money oo. Getting to shoprite, this greedy animal packed 4 loaves of bread and in my mind I was like .. "Look at this one". She even added 2 big hollandia Yoghurt oo. When the initial agreement was one bread from shoprite oo.

I will not like to tell how this story ended... But be rest assured that I went home with all those bread and Yoghurt.

I also remember the story of one that took me to a Pizza shop to turn me to Mugu. She Left prince size Pizza, left Princess size pizza.. And did not even consider the Queen size pizza.

All her eyes went to was KING SIZE PIZZA JUMBO ROLL. When they brought it for payment, I saw a Pizza looking like A BAG OF CEMENT. shocked shocked shocked

She lived sha to tell the story... It ended in a very funny way at that Pizza Hut. grin grin

If you don't mind my asking, what escrow services do you recommend in Nigeria?

I sell granite for construction and have lost a number of deals because clients are scared of me making away with their funds, I have also been stung by customers who end up not paying after delivery.

A reliable escrow service would be a life saver. Thanks

I am here again with a grateful heart.
A kind hearted man on nairaland paid for a new decoder and a year subscription for me. I've told the mushin donor that someone else has paid for the decoder and subscription so i won't be coming for it again.
I am really grateful to the kind hearted man God sent to me.
I am really grateful for your all the advice and love since yesterday.
It's a mistake i am not going to make again.
Let's all be careful. There are scammers everywhere. God bless us all.

God bless this person very much, and God bless also the donor from Mushin who was willing to give what he had. Angels are here even in the midst of the devils.

Really happy for you, it's well deserved. You have conducted yourself with poise and shown a sense of contentment which is rare to see these days.

Sorry about your negative experience as well.
Maybe you should contact the guy who wanted to donate his old one to Sweetness. He may be willing to give you instead.
