flyingpig: The mods may ban Selfpaid from Nairaland but they can't ban him from Cyber space. Ban him today and he would be up tomorrow with another moniker. People should learn to use their brain when transacting business on Nairaland. Mods cannot help when it comes to due diligence. There are so many ways to run a check on Nairaland: -- Use the search button to check previous conversations, account numbers, phone numbers, etc. -- Use Google search to check the phone number and moniker -- Use Truecaller app to confirm the name attached to the phone number. -- Check the year of registration (personally I can't deal or relate with newbies when it comes to financial matters without a proper investigation) - Other strange conditions like type of Phone Number count. While I would boldly send 100k to a faceless guy with a phone number that begins with 0803 or 0805, I wouldn't send half that amount to any of these newly registered numbers (e.g. 0801, etc) without a deep investigation. It is very rare to see a scammer with a phone number that begins with 0803 or 0805. It is always one of these road side digits like 07001***, 09002***, and all these funny looking N50 SIM cards. The same way they come up with new monikers is the same way they buy new SIM cards everyday to scam people. 8 Likes 1 Share |

AngryIgboDon: While I appreciate your comment, I couldn't help but laugh when I saw your moniker together with your comment. In my head, I see an Igbo chief sitting on his big chair with a calabash of palmie in one hand and his staff in the order going "you, you've done this, good. Now you go and do that" Your moniker was well selected sir. |

Most Scammers will first ask you your location so as to lie about their's. This Op is quite d honest selfless human being. It's weird and odd. About 3 people asked u to drop ur acct number but u insisted on going to collect a used one... Quite intriguing. @Op you should have dropped ur account number atleast for subscription though 5 Likes |

SweetCunt97: Tufiakwa. Some Naija girls and their entitlement mentality. I pity you oo. Thats why getting a husband has been so hard for you. Thats why you are in your fathers house turning to "Aunty Gwegwegwe" I don't know why some of you are always looking for avenue to exploit peoples kindness. Any hoo... it depends on people you meet. Because left for me, I will teach you a lesson forever. Na today? This same mentality is what a stupid girl I took out last week in my kindness tried on me and she learnt the bitter hard way. She said if I can help drive her to shoprite and pick bread on my money oo. Getting to shoprite, this greedy animal packed 4 loaves of bread and in my mind I was like .. "Look at this one". She even added 2 big hollandia Yoghurt oo. When the initial agreement was one bread from shoprite oo. I will not like to tell how this story ended... But be rest assured that I went home with all those bread and Yoghurt. I also remember the story of one that took me to a Pizza shop to turn me to Mugu. She Left prince size Pizza, left Princess size pizza.. And did not even consider the Queen size pizza. All her eyes went to was KING SIZE PIZZA JUMBO ROLL. When they brought it for payment, I saw a Pizza looking like A BAG OF CEMENT. ![]() ![]() ![]() She lived sha to tell the story... It ended in a very funny way at that Pizza Hut. ![]() ![]() 17 Likes |

Too many opinions 1. For every business person on nairaland, there must have been a scammed experience either attempted or carried out. 2. Op could have collected the cash offer but she's beginning to feel uneasy with the too much care considering the fact that her gender played a significant role towards that unsolicited generosity 3. I would have been offended if I were the donor. The way everyone is shouting "Be careful" is really funny. 4. Any account younger than 2017 can never do business with me here. 1 Like |

flyingpig: So if I put up a product for sale now, and below it I attach a picture of myself holding a placard saying 'I am not a scammer', that will be convincing enough for you? . As a customer,I am not thinking that the person I am transacting with is a scammer but once I see that placard, I'm done!! Better to err on the side of caution. |
