Qur'an is more well written than the Bible. But who cares, both are garbage grin
Talk about your Quran alone if you’re not a Christian, the whole Quran is about the New Testament in volume and is not organized at all.

Do you realize that most leading scientists are religious? Albert Einstein, Micheal Faraday, Gregor Mendel - priest, Emmanuel Cant Galileo Galilee, Isaac Newton who wrote an exposition on The Prophecy of Daniel? Algebra in Mathematics is founded by a Muslim?

Do you know that without associating yourself with one religion or the other in those days, you could be killed for heresy by the Catholic Church and the pope. Do you know that currently in Nigeria, in the registration forms we fill, there is no space for freethinking, atheism, etc, so people have to make a choice of either Christianity or Islam, or else you can't go ahead with what you are filling. I will give you examples of trials faced by one of these scientists and how he had to resolve to associate himself with christianity to save his life.

Pivadra 18: 9-45

9. In those days, in the 16th century, galileo Galilee, a wise man of Italy, began to observe that the earth and other planets were indeed revolving around the sun.
10. Now when the church of Rome heard this, they said among themselves, this is heresy, for we know that the bible has revealed that it is the sun that moves around the earth and not the other way round.
11. Now Galilee was called and tried, saying, it is either you renounce your confession or you shall be tried with death as we have done to many like you.
12. Remember the death of Thanos, one who declared that humanity is capable of achieving whatever their minds could conceive.
13. We did not spare him for his heresies because he has glorified humans more than our god.
14. Remember also the death of Silvanus, a man who said that it is possible to view far objects as if they are closer.
15. We decapitated him after stoning him to death.
16. For it is witchcraft to think and imagine that a man is capable of making far objects appear closer. For that is exactly what you have also attempted by the telescope which you have made through witchcraft.
17. And you think that you are wiser than the great Ptolemy who saw how the sun revolves around the earth.
18. Is it not common sense for you to see that the sun truly revolves around the earth? For Joshua the great one of the bible said this in his days.
19. And only in his days did he make the sun to stand still. And if you observe the sun, you will see how it rises in the east and sets in the west daily.
20. What have you to say about this?
21. Now galilei said, you cannot know so much about things of nature through far distance observation. Therefore I have made the telescope, look through it and you shall observe the truth.
22. Now the pope and other Noble members of the Roman Catholic Church got provoked and said, you have made a device which is made to look like a bottomless pit.
23. We shall not look through it, for it will enchant and blind us. For we know your evil intention.
24. Now Galilee, if you will save your life, you should denounce your profession and come fully to Christianity and you shall be given an office.
25. Now Galilee said, to preserve my life I shall consent to your request, but let no office be giving to me in Christianity.
26. So Galilee was put in prison by the Christians without any intention of setting him free, because he told them the truth of nature.
27. Now when galilei was in prison, a letter reached him, which had been written by Kepler his friend just before his death three years before.
28. Now galilei read saying, my friend galilei, let the strength of the universe be with you. I write this letter because I do not know if I will see you physically anymore.
29. You know how I have worked as an astronomer all my lives and I have discovered the truth. I have supported Copernicus in his heliocentric theory.
30. But only one thing I have not been able to make sense of; that is the reconciliation of the Christian religion with science.
31. When I could not see how Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit could fit into our discoveries, I began to perceive them as the sun, the stellar sphere and the space in between in that order.
32. But O galilei, I think this still does not make any sense, therefore I urge you, if you will stay longer on earth, to make sure you separate science from religion.
33. For it is possible that the thing which we could call God is not found in religion at all but in science itself.
34. Therefore O galilei, no matter what you discover, do not ascribe it to a god in religion, but to an unknown universal maker.
35. For as we make discoveries of things which even the bible is ignorant of, so shall we make discoveries of what is qualified to be called God in the future.
36. Now when galilei saw the letter, he wept bitterly, for the death of Kepler had left him lonely in the past three years.
37. Now galilei wrote a letter and gave it to one of his students who came to visit him in the house which served as his prison.
38. And he had written in the letter, saying, let no astronomer and true scientists panic over what the church had made me to say.
39. For truly I was offered life if only I could recant my knowledge of the truth. And I did so, only to stay alive.
40. For only the living and not the dead can have hope.
41. I do not support Ptolemy but Copernicus, for I do not only believe it, but I also saw it through my telescope that the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way round.
44. For the Christians, being myopic, have said contrary to this truth.
45. Now galilei died nine years after he was imprisoned, for he was sick of fever and he was abandoned by the Catholic Church who imprisoned him.

Good points. You should realize that man found himself here and wondered what brought him here and to find answers, he began to ascribe creation and all he could figure out to gods. This is the reason for making Sun, planets, trees, rivers etc gods and objects of worship. So many superstitions are made all over the world. Then human began to develop his mind and science was born. Not science alone, Law, Business, Administration etc. All of these also had their initial problems- breaking away from the ‘standards’ Today advancements are being made in all fronts including religion. Today, I don’t see how science has displaced religion. Many astronomers are devout Christians. About the Sun being stopped and movement of the earth round the Sun, science hasn’t claimed it didn’t happen.Galileo Galilee is unfortunately one of martyrs of science, so we have in religion. The ugly past of Christianity and state of Rome, the killings within the churc, they problems in the early development of Islam: we still have a spillover today. Yet many leading scientists are still religious. Science itself is a part of body of knowledge not all of it. I am a scientist myself, I am a believer in God because at the frontiers of scientific knowledge there are still areas of uncertainty.

There are different schools of thought as far as free will is concerned. So, in order to understand your definition of freewill, it only makes sense to ask you to provide me with it.

My issue with you is the way you keep jumping from thread to thread without understanding what is being discussed.
Like I said before, madam,if you don't understand what is meant by freewill I am afraid I cannot help you or a better thing is for you to calm down and read the thread from the beginning. Then you wouldn't need to jump into the thread half way and be asking me the meaning of freewill when it has been glaringly discussed throughout the thread.

And I am advising to calm down and go back to the beginning of the thread and read the posts one by one very slowly so that you can comprehend what is being discussed. You don't just come flying out of nowhere as is your forte and then start asking questions like a headmistress. Nobody is your pupil here madam.

Go back and start the thread slowly from the beginning if you do not know what freewill means.

If you really don't 'feel anything' then simply answer the question and we move on.

You have an overactive imagination it seems. I didn't 'come at you' in any way, and I don't understand why you would feel bullied by a mere question there. I simply asked a question so I can better understand what you refer to as freewill there.

These passages from the bible prove that everything is predestined by a creator God so from whence cometh freewill?

Some who believe in predestination reason basically as follows: God is omniscient. He knows everything, even what is going to happen in the future. He knows what each person is going to do with his life, and he already knows the exact moment and manner of each person’s death. So, according to their thinking, when the time comes for an individual to make a decision, his choice cannot be other than the way God has foreseen and foreordained it; otherwise, God would not be all-knowing. Does this reasoning seem sound to you? Consider what its logical consequences would be.

If some force has already determined your future, then trying to take care of yourself is useless. Choosing to smoke or not to smoke would make no difference to your health or that of your children. Wearing a seat belt while riding in an automobile would have no effect on your safety. But this is faulty logic. Statistics show that people who take precautions suffer fewer fatal consequences. Carelessness can result in tragedy.

Consider another line of reasoning. If God chooses to foreknow everything, then even before he made Adam and Eve, he would have known that they would disobey him. But when God told Adam that he must not eat from “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad” or he would die, did God already know that Adam would eat from it? (Genesis 2:16, 17) When God told the first couple: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth,” did he know that their wonderful prospect of life in a paradise was doomed to failure? Of course not.—Genesis 1:28.

Taken to its logical conclusion, the idea that God foreknows all decisions would mean that he is responsible for all that happens—including wars, injustices, and suffering. Is that possible? A clear answer is provided by what God says about himself.

“You Must Choose”

The Scriptures state that “God is love” and that he is “a lover of justice.” He has always urged his people: “Hate what is bad, and love what is good.” (1 John 4:8; Psalm 37:28; Amos 5:15) On numerous occasions he encouraged his loyal ones to choose a virtuous course. For example, when Jehovah concluded a covenant with the ancient nation of Israel, he said to them, through Moses: “I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring.” (Deuteronomy 30:19) Did God establish ahead of time the choice that those individuals would make? Evidently not.

Joshua, a leader of God’s people in ancient times, exhorted his countrymen: “Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve . . . As for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah.” (Joshua 24:15) Similarly, God’s prophet Jeremiah said: “Obey, please, the voice of Jehovah in what I am speaking to you, and it will go well with you, and your soul will continue to live.” (Jeremiah 38:20) Would a just and loving God encourage people to do right in the hope of receiving a reward if he knew that they were destined to fail? No. Such encouragement would be hypocritical.

So when good or bad things happen in your life, it is not because these events are inevitable. Very often, ‘unforeseen occurrences’ are simply the consequences of other people’s decisions—whether wise or unwise. (Ecclesiastes 9:11) No, your future is not planned out before you, and your own decisions determine what your everlasting future will be.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

▪ Did God decide ahead of time that Adam and Eve would sin?—Genesis 1:28; 2:16, 17.

▪ What qualities of God rule out predestination?—Psalm 37:28; 1 John 4:8.

▪ What responsibility do you have?—Joshua 24:15.

This is an issue I have with so many of you. PLAGIARISM! Taking another persons intellectual property rights and then trying to pass it off as your own. Would it defeat your point of argument if you admitted that this whole post was lifted from a Jehovah witness website? It is amusing that while copying and pasting the whole article you fraudulently removed the source and copyright owners name at the beginning and the end of the article?

Oh boy!
Again you continue to see me as some headmistress figure over your person. Are you sure you are ok? undecided

Madam,
Between me and you I am sure the general public knows the person who is suffering from schizophrenia. The public knows the person roaming around all the religious threads on Nairaland poking her nose into every body's business. I am done with your nonsense.

Assuming god of the Bible as the Almighty God is the greatest error ever made by humans. How can you assume something which is less than 0.000000000000000000000000000000000001% of it as the whole of it? Okay, tell me, can God Almighty be caged or imprisoned? If not, why is the god of the Bible caged and imprisoned by the gods of science

Can u show us evidence of Almighty God Jehovah being caged in by gods of science? Scientific views or methods can be outdated while Bible remains forever . Bible principles on matters of health, business, family, work, moral etc. are lasting. Most scientific journals of 70s or 80s are now useless.Even the authors of those articles are not even proud of themselves. In 50 years to this time, most scientific knowledge will be outdated and useless and many will be betrayed by science. Science is human knowledge and it is not always reliable while Bible is divine wisdom and it will be always reliable.

Scientific views are refined. They are not static like the bible. Bible is static. For example, bible still tells you slaves to obey your masters. Bible still talks about Children of Israel instead of Children of Nigeria. Bible still talks about the return of fictitious Jesus that will happen about 2000 years ago rather than talking about modern inventions. The future of bible still talks about using horses, candlesticks and burning incense as Cele and Cherubim and Seraphim churches do. Bible still talks about miracles instead of science. Bible still said that women should not speak at all in churches, only men should. Bible is still talking about scrolls and stone tablets. Bible still has its focus on Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philipi, Thessalonica and Hebrews, etc. But science has moved miles ahead. Science has invented and invented great things. Science has discovered microscopic organisms. Science have made TV, internet, computers, Jets, rockets, electricity, etc.

You can read the Book of Pivadesh to see how science is leading religion with miles below. When you are through with that, you can check the image below to see the position of the cage of Jehovah and other religious gods within the spiritual cage where they are confined in.

Pivadesh 2:1-24

Chapter Two
1. Religion had been allowed to prevail from the first year of the homo sapiens era to the 282,000th year of the homo sapiens era (spanning 282,000 years) but the world could not invent anything good with it.
2. It could neither invent paper nor pen. It could only invent war and strife.
3. It could neither invent barometer nor periscope, but it could only invent noises and riots.
4. It could neither invent microphone nor loudspeaker, but it could only invent false miracles and lies.
5. It could neither invent penicillin nor panadol, but it could only invent confusion and hatred.
6. It could neither invent scissors and selotape, but it could only invent gods and false witnesses.
7. It could neither invent telescope and thermometer, but it could only invent evil and wickedness.
8. It could neither mint paper money nor coins, but it could invent poverty and austerity.
9. It could neither mine gold nor refine petroleum, but it could invent lying stories and superstitions.
10. It could neither save lives nor cure sicknesses, but it could only endanger lives and cause insecurity.
11. It could neither increase true knowledge of nature nor help to define the nature of God Almighty, but it could only corrupt the laws of nature and falsify the nature of God Almighty.
12. It could neither breed peace nor bring world development, but it could breed terrorism and poverty of minds.
13. It could neither improve eyesight nor help in giving birth, but it could dim the mind and cause infanticide.
14. It could neither invent a paradise on earth nor peace of mind, but it could only invent hell fire in the mind and fear of afterlives.
15. It could neither invent rocket nor aeroplane, but it could only invent rapture and judgement day doom.
16. Science was not allowed to be freely practised until about 300 years ago, so it had spanned barely 300 years of free practice.
16. It has invented hydrometer and thermometer. It has also invented barometer, chronometer and photometer.
17. It has invented periscope, stethoscope, telescope and kaleidoscope. It has invented Spectroheliograph and seismograph, phonograph and addressograph.
18. It has also invented telephone, gramophone, megaphone and microphone.
19. It has invented ship, submarine, ferry, yacht and speedboat. It has also invented jet, aeroplane, helicopter and rocket.
20. It has invented fax machine, typewriter, printing machine and photocopier machine. It has also invented radio, television, video players, compact disk and memory cards.
21. It has invented camera, scanner, calculator, clock and tape recorder. It has also invented compact disk, diskette and memory card.
22. It has invented monocycle, bicycle, tricycle and automobile. It has also invented electricity, solar panel, power generator, inverter and incinerator.
23. It has invented computer, electric bell, electronic book, electric guitar, electric stove, electric blanket and electric sewing machine.
24. It has also invented toaster, soldering iron, pressing iron and rework station.

Can u point to bible verses that say that? Please speak with evidences. Can u pls show us the evidence of Jehovah in cage by gods of science?

Bible is scientifically accurate. Bible talks about earth being spherical and water cycle facts that scientists at that time were not aware of. Check this-
He stretches out the northern sky over empty space, suspending the earth upon nothing.”
Job 26:7
“All the streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place from which the streams flow, there they return so as to flow again.”
Ecclesiastes 1:7

There is One who dwells above the circle of the earth.”
Isaiah 40:22

Bible principles on hygiene were ahead of their times

Shortly before the nation of Israel entered the Promised Land some 35 centuries ago, God said that he would protect them against “the terrible diseases” that they had known in Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:15) One way he did this was by giving them detailed instructions on disease control and hygiene. For example:

The nation’s code of laws required bathing and clothes washing.—Leviticus 15:4-27.

Regarding human waste, God stated: “A private place should be designated for use outside the camp, and there is where you should go. A peg should be part of your equipment. When you squat outside, you should dig a hole with it and then cover your excrement.”—Deuteronomy 23:12, 13.

People who were thought to have a communicable disease were quarantined—kept away from others for a time. Before returning, those who recovered from sickness had to wash their garments and bathe in water if they were to be considered “clean.”—Leviticus 14:8, 9.

Anyone who touched a dead body was quarantined.—Leviticus 5:2, 3; Numbers 19:16.

Israel’s laws reflected medical concepts and views on sanitation that were far ahead of their time.

Elsewhere, primitive standards of hygiene were prevalent. For example:

Waste was deposited in streets. Polluted water, contaminated food, and other kinds of refuse created unsanitary conditions that contributed to a high rate of disease and infant mortality.

Ancient medical doctors had little or no knowledge of germs and pathogens. Egyptians used such “remedies” as lizard blood, pelican dung, dead mice, urine, and moldy bread. Human as well as animal excrement was also commonly used in their medical procedures.

The ancient Egyptians picked up a variety of parasites from the contaminated waters of the Nile River and its irrigation canals. Likewise, many infants in Egypt died of diarrhea and similar disorders caused by contaminated food.

The next song is by Tim Minchin called THANK YOU GOD!

The song is actually a play on sarcasm of how an Almighty God chooses to cure minor sicknesses and ignores major epidemics like Aids and Covid 19.
Enjoy!

Religion has the propensity to breed violence!
All forms of religion have the propensity to breed violence at any stage of that religions evolution. What could make a human being wake up ,strap him/herself with a bomb and walk into a crowded arena and blow himself and others to smithereens? Adherents of any religion have the potential to do this no matter how meek and docile they appear to you because there is a tendency that they want to fight for and defend their god. Religionist generally tend to be intolerant when presented with superior reasoning or logic. Religion relies more on raw emotions and dogma than reality. Religion has the power to make a physical human being believe in imaginary spiritual beings. Religion has the power to make a rational being believe in irrationality. Anything can be justified under religion including murder, wars, rape, slavery, misogyny and destruction of entire civilisations.
History is replete with men/women donning armour of war and going out to fight wars on behalf of their gods.
I just want to spare a thought for the multiplicity of people who have died in the name of religion.
Religion is the killing field of the gods!!!
Think about it.
