guy just shut up abeg. like i said i am a full blown naija boy without a full blown naija dubious sense. before u judge a country or race, u use the law of majority. i did not say there are no nigerians that are hard working. i am saying majority of nigerians abroad are nuisance
But these Nigerians in Ghana are not nuisance.

Their only crime is doing a business that other Africans are allowed to do.

Nigerians always love to ignore it find their way around laws, but when the law catches onto them they begin to cry wolf
Sakamaje:
I can't help but agree with the Op. I think Nigerians can generally have a high tendency to be very lawless in other countries if allowed. Maybe Ghanaians themselves encouraged the flouting of their own laws initially when they deemed it harmless.
Blue3k:
Lawlessness Nigerians are an embarrassment.
I see why Ghana cracks down on Nigerians when it comes to deportations. Certain people have to understand not every country will coddle criminals.

Both of you are nothing but shame to the rest of Nairalanders and by extension, to Nigerians.
Take a look at the lists of items in Section 27 of their act and tell me if it wouldn't have been better for Ghanaian government to chase foreigners away instead of that trash you tagged law

(1) A person who is not a citizen or an enterprise which is not wholly owned by citizen shall not
invest or participate in—
a. the sale of goods or provision of services in a market, petty trading or hawking or selling
of goods in a stall at any place;
b. the operation of taxi or car hire service in an enterprise that has a fleet of less than
twenty-five vehicles;
c. the operation of a beauty salon or a barber shop;
d. the printing of recharge scratch cards for the use of subscribers of telecommunication
services;
e. the production of exercise books and other basic stationery;
f. the retail of finished pharmaceutical products;
g. the production, supply and retail of sachet water; and
h. all aspects of pool betting business and lotteries, except football pool

Haba! Wetin come remain for foreigners to do?
Even the few work wey remain still have stringent condition. I'm sure that none of you read through that trash before tagging your fellow citizens criminals because you enjoy saying it. Shame on you all

tribalmall:
There is nothing draconian about that lawz, it is generally same word over other developed countries just chose not to enforce. I remember when police crack down on Nigeria owned beauty salon in Jo'burg n the owners are told to make a plan. Most Nigeria eatry in SA are still coded though most time the police just look away but they know they ain't allowed.

Compare it with what Ghanaian trade association put up there now. That's no law but a directive telling foreigners that they are not welcome.
What developed country has this kind law? Stop this lie

Someone who has resident permit had the right to work and own business, why then are they clamping down on them?

Africans and their hate towards Nigeria, they always start it but when we do our own they would cry more than the bereaved

I tire for Nigerian attitude, Nigerians are the only Africans in Africa that will go to a foreign country and start causing problems with everybody.

Even in Nigeria to do business with your fellow Nigerian Everytime ur mind would be up, cause he can disappoint u at any moment. Then imagine a foreign land

The major thing that lead to the increase in the population of Nigerians in Ghana is Ghana trying to draw students from Nigeria into their private universities. Anything any Nigerian suffers in Ghana or South Africa is their business, we have warned them many times to stop going there but they think they are smarter than others

It's not same bro. Is 10milliin naira not 11000 dollars? Now Nigerians are asked to bring 1million dollar in Ghana! That's a whole 450milliin naira!

Well, we can't tell other countries what their laws should be.

We also have our own peculiar restrictions.

Here are some examples...

Ghanians are fools.....the border was not closed to spite Ghana it was closed to strangulate business of Southern Nigeria while Northern borders remain open, its the secret cold war btw North and Southern Nigeria for which Ghana happens to be affected, but to turn around and punish the victims is insane. Ghana will remember this day by tomorrow.

The above regulations are antihuman and specifically anti-immigrants. The regulations are simply draconian. These freaking Ghanaians cannot survive a day if other Africans state stood up such laws against Ghana as a country. Where are the doctrines of ECOWA? These retrogressive policy and Ghanaian government should be hold accountable for this inhumanity against fellow Africans. What a shame.

Countries are expected to have laws in place to protect and promote local business from foreigners. But yes.... these are not only draconian.... but laws that are applied retroactively. How can one change the rules of the game after the game started? The man whose business is being shut down.... yes if he were not in compliance but no if he is now required to pay $1M to continue operating .When the law passed... enforcement should've been going forward. Then again.... with the amount of investment required.... it is an invitation to corporate colonialism.... only the Mc Donalds.... the Shop Rites and the likes can foot that bill. Looking deeper businesses listed are those that Nigerians in particular are involved in so it's fair to say the law targets Nigerians and enforcement also targets Nigerians. So not only the laws are draconian... but enforcement is biased.

these people are not stupid. globalization is a failed project, that is why China and USA are locking horns everyday.

you must be a net exporter to survive in this global environment. export your culture or export religion, or even terror

see if was the chairwoman of even a local government, my major focus will be exporting to other LGA around us, export skills, movie, education.

that is what makes Lagos special, they export to other state, they world flock to Lagos, Lagos sells her excess to other state, creating jobs

every government wants to do the right thing by protecting her own first, America first abi?

when the UK came to Nigeria, they were exporting to Africa, exporting a religion

but one thing keeps me awake at night, when all countries are selling ( exporting), who will be the consuming nation.

that is why foreign interest will continue to keep Africa down

globalization unfortunately is the trend. There's no going against it because you can't exist outside of it. out of curiosity tho, what do you suggest to replace globalization?

This ur post is deceitful & full of malicious intents.
Am know in ur heart, u r one of those tribal bigots & u can't even hide it. U r rejoicing over ill treatment to ur country men.

These rubbish laws u posted&r applauding here, do they look just to u?
Why is that only Nigerian traders r always targeted ?
Will they b able to take d same treatment if Nigerian govt applies same treatment to ghanains in Nigeria?

Mind u all Nigerians&traders across tribes r victims of ghanains vengeful deeds.
All these has nothing to do with Igbo traders... Ghanains r known to resent everything Nigerian and shows it at any slightest opportunity.
1st it was Nigerian diplomatic building which obviously isn't own by 'Igbo' traders.
They r d only west African country always ready to challenge&ridicule Nigeria at international levels.

Know now that the cause of all these is the Ghana must go of 1980s by Shagari govt&lagosians which wasn't done by Igbo traders.
Now plus Buhari boarder issue which they r pained more than those that share boarders with Nigeria.
Ghana targets anything Nigeria both govt&individuals.

All these una tribal bigotry displays here which these foreigners follows gives them d impetus to always rubbish us.

Nigerians learn when to draw the line between ur online banters for our collective good and our government must sit up to put these 'wannabe' countries to order.

Those Ghanaian laws are anti ECOWAS.
All member states should have similar trade and economic laws to ensure non discriminatory practices against member states.
Ghana should not discrimate against fellow member states of the same economic community.
Nigeria should lay complaint at ECOWAS.
Such rubbish cannot happen in European Union
.

The problem is not the laws. The problem is that they only enforce them on Nigerians. Other traders from Mali, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin etc are allowed to trade anyhow they want. Only Nigerians are targeted. There are also laws against illegal mining in Ghana, yet there are thousands of Chinese, Indians and Lebanese mining gold illegally there with impunity. So, Ghana has laws. Just that they only enforce them on Nigerians.

Nigeria kicked out thousands of Ghanaians in a “Ghana Must Go” campaign some decades ago.
No country ever forgets. Because a “country” is made up of people and people neither forgive nor forget.
