From an dividend hunter's point of view, is BUA plan to build a mega factory favorable as they may not be able to pay dividends within the period of the project. What do the experts here think? 1 Like |

ojesymsym:Did Dangote's refinery affects dividend payout? Just asking ni o, I'm not anywhere near an expert. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ojesymsym: 2:36pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
Dangote refinery is different from Dangote cement, right? Mcy56: |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mcy56(f): 2:38pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
ojesymsym:Yes......but a project from same coy owner. Refinery is an ongoing project from Dangote. Dangcem an established coy already. Just trying to tell you that it wouldn't affect each other.......in the case of BUA too. 1 Like |

I may be mistaken but I do not think the same condition applies, the same man owns Dangote sugar. I think he has shown that he is able to separate different interest and entities from each other. Mcy56: |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mcy56(f): 2:47pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
ojesymsym:Okay. You're right in the case of Dang coys. BUA project is a kind of expansion too. Like Cashdimkpa said, I expected them to source for expansion fund separately without dipping hands into the profit of already existing one, highest they take some funds from reserve......that's my opinion anyway, I may be wrong too. |

longlife20: Superbly fantastic H1 report !! Looks like ZENITH operated in another planet where there was NO covid-19 in Q2. ...maybe in Mars or Jupiter !! I hereby declare ZENITH as the cheapest banking coy on the floor, before GTB !! However, the thing about EFFICIENCY means that investors will likely continue to attach a higher premium to the latter, ahead of the former. With the 1st tier banking coys, particularly Mr ZENITH and GTB, it seems there is always a way even when the ship appears to be down(economy in view) For those who think that the 2020 YE dividend declaration of these banks will drop, hear this; U just might be disappointed !! ...with the current print in growth trajectory, it might even be a little more than that of 2019 !! ...it is well. 7 Likes |

Remaining Access in tier 1 and Fidelity in tier 2. We shouldn't expect lesser from these two I suppose. Just observation. Let me come and be going...... |

aremso: The relationship between GTBank and Zenith stocks have always been so since I knew them. Nobody seems to have been able to tell us why the price of GTBank always higher than Zenith bank and yet not until last financial year when it was the same amount, Zenith always pay higher dividend than GTBank 1 Like |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 3:48pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
onegentleguy: A quick brief on ZENITH BANKS H1 report... To the rescue was an over 174% jump in other operating income line despite the material drop in NFCI, thus ensuring the positive in EBITDA MARGIN. However, NPM would have been relatively flat(@ approx 2.8% net positive YoY, assuming previous tax lodgement) In retrospect, a much lower tax expense helped ensure the over 16.8% boost in NET MARGIN. Again, like GTB, its a positive that the banks NIM also maintained its positive track on the back of a near 10.5% growth in NII. Going forward, the recent policy on savings interest by the CBN will help sustain that growth(in NIM) even more. Great financial print overall. ...I particularly like the banks print in AER, CGPR, ROE, EM and EV. I look at the banks statement of CF and very robust balance sheet, and I wonder why the coy is still trading @ circa N17+ !! ...it is well. 1 Like |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 4:03pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
emmasoft: Maybe u haven't come accross or read it but we have always stated it here. The reason is in the word; EFFICIENCY... which is the ability of management to generate more(net income) from less asset(mainly cash in this case) within a specified timeframe. GTB does more with fewer asset than ZENITH with a higher asset base. The interpretation of this is that GTB as an entity can well generate(NPM/RoIC) a little more Naira than ZENITH assuming they were given an equal asset base. ...put differently, assuming u gave an equal amount of fund(say N10) to both banks, the former can erk out more profit(say 20k) at a faster pace than the latter, ceteris peribus. So by implication, if GTB can deliver more in time, then they are clearly more EFFICIENT !!(time value for money in view) Thats why GTB has historically had a better ROE, AER and CGPR than ZENITH BANK !! There's a strong level of belief attached to that part in bold. which explains why as an investor, u would likely be inclined to take up an equity stake in the former at higher pricing. ...hence the price premium between both coys. Btw, I think that part of ur post in bold is incorrect. Historically, GTB has overall, delivered more in cooperate actions(dividend cash flow, script issue) than ZENITH. So u might want to check ur record again. Things might change in future though. But for now, it is what it is !! Regards 9 Likes 1 Share |

onegentleguy: For the purpose of clarity, its important to note that the price of GTB is also UNDERVALUED at the current mkt price, so that part in bold should not take away that fact. For context, it(that part) was only intended to compare both coys in view of their degree of prospects at delivering returns(ROI in view) Selah 5 Likes |
