I started investing in NSE may this year. I invested in few banks including Zenith.
Now it is time for interim dividend and the registrar (based on info from my broker) is saying I am not entitle to it. That it is only people that invested before May that are entitled.
Abeg make una help me:
Zenith said:
Proposed dividend =30k
Closure date: 17th of Sept 2020
Qualification date: 16th Sept 2020
Payment date: 22nd Sept 2020

Please people, am I not qualified based on info above.
Kindly advice how I can also take this up with the registrar. Because this is looking like daylight robbery to me.

You are entitled to the dividend.
Even if you invested yesterday, you'll still be entitled to it.
Now answer this:
Did you still hold your position in Zenith till today?
Is there any arrangement btw you and your broker? Maybe they're investing on your behalf and are entitled to claim the dividends instead of you?
Who is your broker?

You are right they will definitely come back when exchange rate hits N600 per USD and NSE ASI dips below 20000.

Ask your broker for your purchase contract note. That is enough evidence as per the day of purchase. The Registrar also has a record of activities on your account as to when you bought or sold you can ask for a print out. Everything will be clear as to your claims and theirs.

Does banks sell dollars to individuals?

Yes, subject to the following

(1) If you are travelling to destination that is more than 6 hours flight time, you can buy up to $4,000 as PTA once in every 3 months. The $ will be handed to you.

(2) For medical treatment overseas, the $ will be credited to the hospital while your own PTA will be given to you if you also applied for it.

(3) For school fees, it will be credited to the school account.

JB's bonus issue has been added to qualified investors.
Anyone still waiting for the bonus issue should contact his/her stock broker, it must be sitting in your CSCS statement already.
