And do you want to compare the size of Nigeria to SA? Have you ever been to SA before?

The point I'm trying to make is that - we need to put data into perspectives. Let's assume 80million Nigerians are poor but what is the geographical spread compared tonight countries?

Ghana has stable electricity but do you know Nigeria generates more electricity than Ghana albeit the population and size of Nigeria makes it more difficult for Nigeria to have stable electricity. See the links below

https://www.usaid.gov/powerafrica/nigeria

https://www.usaid.gov/powerafrica/ghana

I know Nigeria needs to do way better in many areas but many Nigerians make certain comments without understanding real-time perspectives.

Nigeria electricity distribution is way below,

Nigeria population is almost 4 times that of south africa

But south africa produce 9x more electricity than nigeria

India has more poor people than South Africa, now does it mean your local market is anywhere close to theirs?

Even with your acclaimed 90m people living in poverty in Nigeria, we still have another 110 million Nigerians living above poverty which is still higher than your total population shocked shocked What does that tell you?

That is 45 percent of your population living in poverty which is very high

The fact that Nigeria has 12 000 $millionaires, while SA has 39 000 dollar millionaires should tell you something

No, black communities, not poor communities. If your Nigerians are so successful in SA as you like to falsely claim then what would they be doing in poor communities during attacks? Get your facts straight.

There's been a lot of economic empowerment for black South Africans since 1994 so I fear you're still stuck in the past. Rather focus on being the undisputed Poverty Capital of the World despite 60 years of self misrule and massive oil wealth. You can't even afford to fill a trolley at Shoprite - a poor man's store in South Africa.

Talk about brain-dead blacks, it's elections season in Nigeria, I'll be on the lookout for how many proven fantastically corrupt politicians you bring back to power for a measly food parcel - like you have been doing since independence.

Yes indeed the motto is SA belongs to all who live in it, but we should always be on the lookout for those who want to destroy it.

We selling drugs and opening brothels is that all, if it is then, the police should be blamed for not doing their job,

And still dey wont allow deportation of immigrants without no papers, living the immigrants who wants to leave stock in sa,

Am trying to get the whole gist, you all attack immigrants for taking your jobs, soiling your country up, like there is no government to handle such issues,

From what i see is just one fingers are pointing to d immigrants two are pointing to the south Africans,

I strongly believe all immigrants should evacute south africa, and visa should be guaranteed only for tourism purposes , if i be a president of my country is my people first, before anyone, get your government to act, the immigrants are powerless, and the attacks in them sends little or no message....

Honestly, we've lost trust in the police and government. That's why people are taking the law into their own hands. The ANC feels it owes the world favours for housing it during apartheid. It is way too lenient on illegal migration and lawlessness.

They actually tried to divest and run away when they lost a case against a Nigerian. ShopRite tried to cheat a Nigerian that was in the process of partnering with them at the initial stage but the Nigerian man took them to court and eventually won the case.
I know of that case, that South African boy just dey hit Nigerians for naira land with misinformation and lies for idiots to believe. With all the news on naira land, no Nigerian was able to refute those lies with proofs.

I wish we were like developed countries but the truth is that South Africa is also struggling. We barely have enough capacity to deal with our own crimes, it's unreasonable for everyone to just say we must get the police. WHy must we as Africans always be policed? Can't we just behave out of the goodness of our hearts? ANd I think that's also a point that we as South Africans make. Why is it necessary for us to use our funds to provide police while everyone from outside just comes in and does whatever. It's not fair. As much as we should work on our security, our brothers must also not break laws. How would Nigerians feel if you are struggling with boko Haram, your own crime and then South African gangsters decide to make Lagos their playground? It wouldn't be fair on your already struggling security system.

This is a two-way thing. More police means more taxes. AT the end of the day it's the South Africans who will pay to beef up security while everyone just tells us: "We can do whatever illegal things, just get more/better police". DO you think that is pan-Africanism?

Where is the love when people cross the border to murder and steal and then cross back to sell their goods? As much as South Africans need to respect other Africans, other Africans should also respect us. it's only fair.

Pardon me, I haven't visited SA, so have based my thoughts on it being a top developing country based on media, and maybe you haven't visited Nigeria too and would rely on media as well.

But as society advances so are the challenges, of which crime is one. You can't by fiat extract good behaviour from people, not even in hamlets/villages, you'll still find deviants. That's why the law is there, and that's why agencies are created to enforce these laws. I don't see why it is so hard to get these agencies to task. If SA community felt uncomfortable about certain behaviour of someone or groups, you know them and that's why you went to certain hoods during xenophobic attack. Get the law working on them, unless the police are corrupt and unreliable. I personally hate crime, but I won't go about and start killing foreigners randomly because some of them failed to behave.

In Lagos, all nationalities can be possibly be represented in different proportions. A lot of West African neighbours- Benin, Togo, Cameron, Niger, Chad are all there doing there things. You know what, we don't go around hanging everybody on the neck if very few cross the red line. Simply, if you are caught, you pay for it whether Lebanese, Chinese, Indians, etc. And these have all been caught in crimes and jailed. And all these nationalities compete for jobs in Lagos. Indians and Lebanese do sell stationaries for offices in VI. May be we would have asked them to go, and let Nigerians only do the job? Benonese and Togolese, also compete with Nigerians on carpentry, tiling, painting, Mason, beauty salon, herbs, house boy and house maid, restaurant, etc. Chadians and Nigeriens sell on kiosks, gate men, herdsmen, ride OKada, just like other Nigerians. And we let them be and patronise them as well as we will to Nigerians. And a lot of them don't have immigration documents. Perhaps one of the reasons Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen banditry festered. Don't forget that Nigerians are also in these countries as well. However whoever goes rouge is not spared when caught. And these rouge ones can't succeed in their nefarious activities without the aid and support of locals.

So unless there is sth else, I would expect similarity from SA, but No. It cost a lot to police the community and we don't trust police. Okay, is killing all Nigerians because of a few bad ones the most sensible thing to have been done, no it isn't. I felt the anger is beyond crime alone. There must be sth else.

South Africans like Ghanaians and many of the folks of these African Nations are still at that backward stage were they are unable to accept they have fault. See the many pages here filled with these morons simply refusing to accept fault for xenophobic attacks on foreigners. They are here trying to justify xenophobia by blaming it on everyone but South Africans that daily persecutes foreigners. Early this year or late last year, there was the spectacle of that munchkin featured Ghanaian fellow called Wodemaya who went around the internet showing images and news of the Chinese man that former Emir Sanusi crowned chief of the Chinese business community in Kano state. He was everywhere trying to paint Nigerians as subservient and the entire world had a real go at Nigeria. And yet when his Ghana people did far worst by bestowing a title on a Chinese and carried him aloft in worshipful scenes that hearken back to the worst impressions of blacks as Tarzanic coons, he was nowhere found. And Ghanaians en mass defended the coronation.

Hypocrites, all of these people, simpletons unable to accept fault even when glaring - i spit.

You are very correct.

However, I must say that the electorate have the choice to decide not to vote for incompetent candidates. Personally, the last time I voted was in the 2011 general elections. Thereafter, I haven't voted or even sought to get a voters card because I believe it's a simple waste of time. I would rather put my precious time in building my profession and business which will by God's grace, thrive outstandingly irrespective of the party or government in power.

In addition, I have observed that even a larger proportion of the electorate don't know what they want, don't know how to decipher the better candidate. You would find many people who claim they're looking for a better Nigeria still drumming up support for politicians with known corruption issues for forthcoming elections. In a sane civilized society who does that? The people will not even look the way of such questionable characters. But in Nigeria and on Nairaland, reverse is the case.
Can someone who created a problem be the solution to the same problem?

The bolded is the biggest issue, most times we are faced with the devil and the deep blue sea, as candidates, and the people believe running to the third party is a waste of time

s:eun and his mods receive instructions from some people ( including foreigners ) who may have bought a stake in n:airaland,

Not really most of the foreign battles on nairaland generate a lot of traffic. Look at the Kenya is far ahead of Nigeria in all aspects it has been shut down twice and reopen it because it is generating a lot of traffic. Also there is a lot of local politics in Nigeria involved in it. Nairaland is collecting money from politicians to keep the streak alive in Nigeria

In Nigeria you meet good people, but in south Africa we have all the bad Nigerians. Remember Nigerians come to South Africa thinking they will find good employment only to find that it is hard and crime/drugs/illigal activities is the way out.. My company have offices in Nigeria so we hired one guy from Nigeria to come work with us this side as skills transfer project, believe me he also does not want to be associated with this street roaming Nigerians in south Africa. The bad thing is the image of Nigerians in south Africa is damaged in a way that he gets frustrated that he get discriminated because of the bad Nigerians.

In the act to defend nigeria many nigerians have lied in their comments, i remember as a kid i watch nigeria movie were some eastern guys in the movie were residing in south africa and and they came back to their village to take their younger ones to South Africa, to teach them how to sell drugs....

This was way to 2005, before all this xenophobic attacks came,

The south African government is the problem not the immigrant, how would you allow immigrant turn your country upside down and even make your citizens equal with immigrants, not fair is their country foreigners should not come before them, if their government is upright most foreigners will end up in their jail....

If there a better nigeria tomorrow, i wouldn't want africans foreigners to be salvaging nigeria with crimes or even having some preferential treatment

If you took the time to view the video you would have seen that it was aimed at the Nigerian and Zimbabwean embassy. A better question would be why is this happening in other African countries as well. Either it is a continental conspiracy where the citizens of SA , Ghana and Kenya got together and decided "hey bros we do not like Nigerians lets ask them to get lost because we are super jealous of their undeveloped infrastructure , lack of water and electricity" OR the behavior of your citizens has led to this .

If it was just a general inability to blame government for its failings then you would see these complaints and marches against all African migrants would you not and yet the same suspects keep being blamed I wonder why that is ?

There is a well know Japanese saying" the nail that sticks out shall be hammered down" The seriousness of the offenses Nigerians are committing coupled with their loud ,boorish behavior when arrested is what attracts the attention.
South Africans have no issue with Nigeria let alone any jealousy our strength does not require your weakness and in fact the continent will be so much better with both of us at the height of our strength and full potential however that will not be possible until such time as Nigerians have the ability to introspect and realize that something needs to change. What a great country you will be when that realization dawns.
