omo, mine was on my way back from writing my post utme at UNN. some Fulani robbers accosted us at ninth mile. Never has my heart beaten so fast in my life, lol. Barely an hour into the journey, we saw some people dressed in black motioning for the driver to stop. I was still jamming my headphones as i thought it was the normal police checkpoint stuff. All of a sudden, the driver started reversing with speed. I looked ahead again and saw these same would be policemen firing at our bus..till today, I don't understand how the driver was able to notice so easily.

At that moment, i flung my headphones and my small Android phone under the chair. While the driver was reversing, some other Fulani people came out from the bush at the back and started shooting. At that point, the driver lost control and rammed the bus into a tree by the roadside. Omo, panick everywhere, everyone was shouting, some crying, 'cause most of us were prospective students. I remember one man shouting blood of Jesus while trying to break the glass so he can escape into the bush, but the glass didn't break.. thinking about it now, it was a funny scene, lol.

The driver immediately jumped to the back with us. According to him, they will kill him if they know that he is the driver. True to his words, the first thing they said when they dragged the door open with force was "where's the driver?" nobody answered because at that point, tension and fear was sky high. They started dragging everybody out. I remember one of them saying "if you no give us money, we go kill you!!" I could see another one of them holding a dagger. The first man by the door was still holding on to something and shouting "blood of Jesus!" till they almost broke his hands with this heavy plank. They finally dragged him out and gave him some more beatings, the second person went down, followed by me. It was that moment i found out how weak my legs were from fear. I just barely managed to get down, gave them the last 2k that was with me, before i was pushed to the ground. Then they started bringing out others one by one. Immediately they collect whatever you have, they'll tell you to lie down on the bare ground. who knows if they were still going to kill us after everything.

Luckily for us, one of the vehicles that passed us must have reported at the next police checkpoint. Next thing, we heard gunshots and saw a police van. Never have i been happy to see a police van before. When the Fulani robbers saw them, they started firing back while escaping into the bush. I just laid there, head lowered while slowing monitoring what was happening. The robbers finally vanished into the bush. Some of the police officers still chased after them. I think one of the robbers was killed because they recovered some of the stolen items. I remember one girl crying because they carried her bag with all her belongings and documents inside. After every every, we had to go back to the bus park to board another bus before we started afresh, the long journey to Lagos. It was a really crazy experience.

It was back in 2005 ,while I was still in the university . I went out to pick up a friend so that we could have a tutorial together becos our exam was around the corner . By the time we got back to the house, it was already dark. I manage to put on my phone for some light so that I can get things prepaid to settle my friend in .Suddenly a man emerge from inside our store house (where we keep our unuse stuff) he announce that he is an armed robber and we should all corporate .My room mate had already been delt with and locked up in our toilet and they waited for me to return from my outing as they might have been informed.
He took me to my room and ordered me to bring out my money and other valuable ..I lied that did not have anything ,omo!!you need to see the hot slap this bastard gave me ..He immediately showed me a very long knife and a short gun(I have never seen a gun that close in my life before ) and threatained to waste me there, if I misbehaved ..I became very afraid and scared for my life and I started bringing out all my money both saving /my monthly allowance including my school fees( this was before online banking ,so I usually have cash in the house as my bank was quite far ). And other valuable .Both the things he ask & did not ask for .
I was taken back to join my room mate and friend in the Toilet and we were locked up there ..Until they left .
I thank God for my life . After that incident, my heart became deadened when ever people carry out jungle justice on arm robbers.I don't feel anything for them when they are getting their own pound of flesh . They are brutal and merciless when they are robbing people .

Robbery is a bad phenomenon. Have you been robbed before? Share your experiences.

Mine:

1. Armed robbers on highway.

Plying Makurdi road to Jos, we were accosted in Maraba. The very bondary between Nassarrawa and Benue.

I remember the silent cries of women and children alike.

These robbers just opened fire on our vehicle because it seemingly looked like the driver was disobedient with the steering wheel and refuses to stop.

How the driver managed to escaped was still a shock. Reaching Lafia, we all came down like Noah and his kids and behold, the wind screen was designed with bullets but both drivers weren't hurt at all.

2. Robbers attacked our hostel.

I remember hearing a knock on the front gate and people mumbling in fierce agitation of what they'll do if the door isn't opened.

O boy, I reason my roommate, we enter celling. Mehn, landlord don already enter o. We didn't know it was a regular visit.

We dey there dey hear beating dem dey issue students wey no get laptops, fancy phones and better foodstuffs.

They also raped some students. My roomy as stupid as he was wanted to have a good night and watch what was going on so he began moving in the celling like Spider-Man.

Behold, one celling broke and he fell into the den of about three robbers. They beat craze commot for him body.

I was so bothered the guy would disclose our location but dey off him mouth. He wanted to talk about us but they were like 'shut up, shut up' under general beating. It was like Angel Gabriel was fighting for me.

3. While in Borno state, my friends lured me into going to a particular stream with them to catch fish.

We didn't stay up to thirty minutes before some armed men attacked us on gunpoint. A typical Boko Haram militia.

I was cold. How could I die in the hands of Boko Haram judging from the numerous and gory way they kill, and from the videos we've eatched.

One of my guys was already crying sotey en catarrh don dey enter en mouth.

They requested our identity cards and let us go. They were Civilian JTFs and thought we were bandits or Boko too.

I was so happy that day and repented immediately.

Them dey look face before robbery. You wan rob me, you no dey look face, or you get nine lives even at that. I can never never be robbed. I hear people complain and cry because of thieves but even after robbing our apartment back when I was serving, my room was speared and everything intact. Who said Jesus Christ no dey work, it dey work joor. No try this at home with your little faith. Grow up in the side of God today and get anointing for protection. It is a forever anointing from God himself and not that wooden or tree with calabash; you go pouring blood of innocent chickens every week.

Mine was back then in uni, it was a rosy day so everyone was up on Hennessy with loud music, eventually the henny took its toll and we were asleep. Suddenly I noticed the ceiling was falling, I was unbothered because I thought it was a dream owing to the fact that I do have vivid dreams where I control the outcome of events.

Quick recap, I was with 3 guys that always talked about how they beat people and all and how when a policeman who sought to extort them was given many heavenly resounding slaps and nothing happened. That aside, as a confirm Generals son in the Nigerian army, seeing guns were like watching Ozo chase Nengi everyday and twice on Friday.

When I realized it was not a vivid dream I Rush to the kitchen with my guys grabbed two knives and was ready to attack. My guys held me and I noticed one already peed in his pants. These were the same guys that claimed to have slapped a policeman and nothing happened o.

Summary of the story were robbed and nothing happened

Morals of the story, don't believe people when you're attacked by armed robbers and if you make an attempt to confront them fight to the death like Spartacus or crixus.l

Now this is a funny thread cheesy cheesy

I have only had one armed robbery experience; I can't really remember the year it happened but it should be either 2005/06, the incident occurred around 1:00 am, I was sleeping in the sitting room because the fan there blows better grin the thieves numbering about three or more came in through the back door into our courtyard and went straight to my parents' room but couldn't get anything from them then they came to the sitting room where I was, took my precious phone (my first phone, Nokia coloured screen kiss ) from me and when I saw them packing tin milk, sugar and groundnut that my mum sells I realized these ones are just hungry mofos , then I summed up courage to ask them for my sim cards that they may go with the phone, they handed the sims over and told me to lie down on my bed while they made for the courtyard, the strange courage I had pushed me to look through the louvre blades to see if I could see their faces clearly only to be met with the eyes of of one of them shocked omo as he pushed open the door, he called out to one of them, "Mopol, gimme the gun" I just calmly laid back on the bed, eyes down expecting the worst to happen, then I heard more footsteps approaching and I looked back to ascertain what I thought I heard and I was met with a raised hand holding a machete shocked cry in the mind, the end is here lipsrsealed undecided I put my face down again and I heard dgboom on my back, (that's the impact of the matchete) that was when they all fled.
I laid there motionlessly thinking I had died until my parents and siblings came out of their rooms to check up on me and I narrated my ordeal to them.
cool cool

modified:

The other robbery/theft experience was during my NYSC days in 2013

I was in the same room with three other guys at the Corpers' lodge (2 are nairalanders cheesy) our belief was that the thieves used something on us that none of us woke up while they carried out this act, even though it wasn't a break-in, they still got away with our valuables without us knowing. They stole our stuff through the window, tore open our window netting, made away with my Tecno N3 that I was charging cry I'll always remember that phone, it was my first android phone cry and I effortlessly played NFS Most Wanted on it without lags sad cry I still have the last song I listened to before I slept off sef.

They also made away with another person's laptop that he placed on the table which is also by the window.

We might not have experienced this if we had killed the lights before sleeping.

I have had two so far .
First one was in my family house .there wasn't enough funds for my parents so my dad hurriedly built 2 rooms on his land and we moved in ...He was in the Para Military and was hardly around.

One room was for my dad and mum and the kids occupied the other one.

One midnight,we woke up to my mother's voice... begging that she doesn't have money . I was with my two senior sisters and little brother ...We heard a knock on our door and the fear of my mum been in trouble ,we quickly opened the door .

They had already finished robbing my mum ,took all her jewelries ( she just came back from Jerusalem ,was sponsored by Rivers State gvt) , locked her in before coming to our room.

We opened immediately they knocked ,took our phones and all. One held his cutlass on my brother's neck ,that he will cut him if he misbehave ( he was below 17 then) .

They asked the 3 girls to come to the small corridor and pull our clothes. embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed.
My eldest sister was pleading that they shouldnt disvirgin her and all...I was a Virgin too .

Their boss(I guess) said let him try ,if it doesn't penetrate he'd leave us.

My eldest sister was struggling with him then he left her ...the circle went on. The bastard came to me, checked with his fingers and left cry cry cry.

My middle sister was raped cry cry cry... I'm talking about it because she's late. Died March 27 2012.

I have the guy's picture all over my memory and he'd pay for his sins whether here on earth or beyond.

1: Saved by a pair of headphones.
It was less than a week school resumed, students looking fresh af. New gadgets, plenty money and all that good stuff.
They came to my lodge, used one guy as bait to rob all the rooms. When they came to my room, I didn't open cos I was jamming some loud music on my headphones and typing on my brand new hp pavilion x360 i used my I.T savings to buy lol.
My lodge mates came and knocked again about an hour later after the robbers left and I opened. They were surprised that I didn't open before.
Those guys stole a lot of stuff from my lodge. Laptops, blackberry phones, TV etc.

2: They came and kidnapped a girl. Hid in my bathroom even though my apartment was locked. grin

3: Robbers visited us disguised as School security. I left 10 mins earlier. They robbed everyone, broke into my house and didn't find anything. My laptop was the only valuable thing I had at that time and I went to my gf's with it.

Luck

Mehn, a lot of terrible experiences here. May God continue to keep us all and shield us from all evil. Never experienced it, and pray not to ever. But i have overtime become conditioned to some precautionary moves. I never make my routes predictable. I try as much as possible to make my house/location one that is secure (secure iron doors, gated compound etc), and i over-speed on highways, i dont stop for anyone at night except it is a legit checkpoint which i will know due to at least a queue of other cars. Also, if i notice any funny business, like someone jumping out of the bushes, i aim straight for the person/people. I wont continue to speed off in a straight line when they will have time and focus to aim, i veer and speed straight towards them (learnt this while i was a med rep dealing with local govt boys from the west, east and partly north of Naija. I'm naturally paranoid about these things, so if i sense a bike or another car doing anyhow i naturally switch up my driving to 'i'll kill you before i stop this car'. I recently bought a bigger and heavier car just for this reason, to embolden me to ram any baga if the need arises. Na only panelbeating money e go chop. Most of my fear/paranoia is about highway rather than even home. I somewhat feel more secure at home for some reason.
