@ the bolded,
Are you not contradicting yourself?

I am pointing out that your argument the arrangement would only benefit Dangote is flawed.

Plus the aim is, we produce refined fuel completely at home, relying on imported refined fuel at rare times.

If you actually read the article, the importation would happen when the refinery is undergoing TAM or when demand exceeds supply.

Of course, we can have far more refineries if Government allows marketers set the price of petrol.

Don't mind them. They refuse to read simple article. If Dangore refinery wipes out importation today, but demand grows 50% in 5years, will it still be able to meet up? This is simply a solution that is looking at 5 to 10 years down the line, yet people are already wailing. However if other business men also build refineries, its will be an eventuality that will never occur.

Besides by 2040, there is a good chance almost all cars produced globally will be using electricity.

That was how he told obj that his competitors then was importing cement ,that the country should patronize local content resulting to banning importation of cement and gave him monopoly on a platter of Gold,

Saying dangoite is the richest in Africa, it is laughable because Yoruba and fulani government made him rich and he can never be a role model to me,

Coming to oil and gas, he want to have the country to himself, but it will shock him this time, that crude oil federal government promise to give him in naira will come from the north and definitely not the one from Niger delta.

It's very obvious, but when you complain about this man's uncanny brand of vicious monopoly/capitalism, folks make it look like you are just hating..
From flour, to grains and cement, he has managed to sponsor presidents who helped him push off his competitors. He will then monopolize the sector, fix prices as he feels and disappear into one of his mansions while ordinary people suffer.. Cement prices in Nigeria are higher than that of other countries where Dangote has cement plants! Yet he has licences for limestone here in Nigeria! The man is a daredevil capitalist who believes strongly in manipulatig the system to squeeze the last breadth out of the poor masses.. To think that he is even being used as the top example of successful entrepreneurs, that the young in this country should look up to is simply mind boggling..
Well said about the economic thief alpha and omega.

Untrue. If during periods of fluctuations is what thief Dangote is worried about, he shouldn't be fighting for restricting licenses of participating operators many that have been there decades before he came into business

There are 25 active licences for fuel refining in Nigeria, three of which are at completion state, two others are at constructon stage.

Dangote is restricting no one.

The problem is government fixing the price of PMS makes PMS refining in Nigeria a hard business. Which is why most private investors are staying away for now. Even Danogte stands to lose if government keeps up the subsidy they are clearly paying despite the lying about not paying it.

See. Even the group head/CEO OF BUA petitioned the government against the monopolistic business stance Dangote cement is giving by the government and called for a halt. Example of an effect of his greed. A major equipment in Dangote's cement supply chain got damaged, cement price hiked from 2800 to 4000 Naira. In an open economy, Dangote will make the time to fix his machinery while other produces continue with production

So, did Dangote stop BUA improving production? BUA that has 4 factories across Nigeria, compared to Dangote's 3?

Operators with Monopoly can end up causing war unlike free access economy because they would be vying to hold on to interests over social interests and would sponsor societal conflicts and wars. Example the last 2 presidential elections

There is no monopoly in cememt...BUA and Lafarge last i checked were not out of business. Plus, there would be more refienreis if Nigerians stop protesting any moves to deregulate the downstream sector. (AND IF we dont deregulate, Dangote's refinery is going to crash in ten years because it won't be profitable then)

The end result of excessively strong monopoly in businesses would ultimately lead to ownership and control of the people. We have plenty of such cases on the global stage, from the control of vaccines to who is free and who is not, to controlling people's lives and destinies is always the end product and not about business.

Business is about fairness and if Dangote is up for business, he should pursue fairness and open market and let Nigeria be.

1.There is no monopoly in cement production in Nigeria.

2.Dereguation of the downstream sector will stimulate more licencees to start work on their refineries. Dangote won't be there to frustrate them

I think the problem is Nigerians really want cheap fuel .

Arguing that it costs the economy long term means nothing to them...cheap fuel, even if it bankrupts the economy

Why can't your Dangote produce his own crude and let other sources that have been in operations for over 50 years continue their own activities?

This one want make price dey up like cement

Let the import be there so that if he tries to monopolize the price, people will find cheaper alternatives.

Let the market forces determine the prices. Not getting all the monopoly and setting very high prices.

If every thing is local and the FG is also supplying you oil at local prices, then you should not be worrying about importation as your cost is way lower than theirs and your price ( without any ulterior motives and external factors) will be lower than theirs, making you take all the market share.

But this one you are already thinking far, that means your intentions are not pure.

Have BUA and Lafarge stopped manufacturing? If you like...don't buy dangote, buy BUA cement or Lafarge....I don't subscribe to Danogte, or work for him self.

Plus, BUA's refinery in Imo would be refining everything..except petrol. Reason being petrol is subsided, while every other thing is not. Think about that

You're spinning the narratives to pursue your own facts

Justify how cement jumped from 2800 to 4000 Naira because of Dangote engine problems and why price stayed up that way

Go and learn what over dependence means in economics. It's all shades of wrong. You're pursuing an agenda cause of clannishness

Why Is Dangote afraid of competition and open market access. Tell me?

Apart form Dangote there are 24 active licenses for refining crude oil that have been issued in Nigeria ...see them here

Plus the reason why there are no more than that number is because it isn't profitable to refine fuel in Nigeria because we really haven't deregulated the downstream oil sector.

Dude I've heard that so many times. Nigeria granted over 20 refineries license since 2001/2005 windows that isn't new.

Question is why does Dangote want all markets restricted and closed. Why?

Indeed. You must be Dangote son. Why are your emotions stirred up. Before playing the ostrich address why Dangote hates open market and competition and what's his business with fuel. Importation. If you were one of those whose legitimate businesses would be closed up that has taken some 40 years to build you'd interact more rationally.

You don't want to pay N200 for fuel , that's why you are giving me this convoluted argument about Dangote being this monopolist.

I agree with u that subsidies don't work.

But open markets will work just fine.
Why is it so difficult to get a refinery licence in Nigeria? It is because the likes of dangote wants to restrict entry into the market so that they can keep making huge profits from near monopoly.

Most of you complaining, nothing stops you from participating in the economy. If it was an igbo or yoruba man who gave the suggestion, all the thread will be filled with how igbos and yorubas are good entrepreneurs.

Anyway, Rather than shouting crony capitalism and monopoly, dust your trousers, sell your properties, then use the money to start a business then grow it, then maybe you will be like dangote one day.

Atleast his crony capitalism is helping to reduce unemployment in Nigeria
an Igbo or yoruba will not give the suggestion in the first place

It isn't...which is why there are 24 other people with licenses to refine crude in Nigeria.

Five of them, Dangote included, are actively working on actualizing the refineries, according to stats from the DPR.
