Please I need suggestions. I did a tomato nursery using coco peat and chicken manure. After 10 day the seedlings started dying mostly the stem shrinks before it die.
I consulted and realized the manure is the culprit.
Am ready to do a fresh nursery using coco peat and npk 15:15:15 dissolved in water.
Do I use this method or use coco peat and plain water.

we know it works but anyone wanting to try this out should first do a test pilot from just a little part of the farm to see how it works first.

because i have tested so many things on my farm and at the end regretted it.

nothing beats to manure the ground, spray insecticides and water the plants daily.

all others are just secondary

Hello Mr okoro, it's been quite a while since I last reached on the thread for advice. I have commenced my trial. I would have been reaching out regularly but I usually do not like to type long stuffs with phones and I do not have a laptop at the moment. There were challenges here and there, especially certain criminal insects who would cut off the leaves of the offshoot when it has just sprouted. I discovered they are able to achieve this when the plant is still young. After a while, the plants outgrow this insects. But they cost me much damage. The challenge on my hand presently is in the pictures I'll attach. I don't know what that might be. Kindly help.

Mr okoroemeka, I'm so grateful for your timely response. I have never used foliar fertilizers since starting. However, I can't quite remember for sure, there's all the possibility that I sprayed insecticides in the morning after being provoked by those demon insects. How do you think I can remedy the situation? Attached are the insects that troubles me most

for those hoppers you don't spray the whole farm,just get your knapsack and walk around the farm, spraying on any individual insect seen,also spray the surrounding bushs

Even the most experienced farmer may not achieve this feat. Do not just pursue farming purely because of the gains. It ain't oil money.

my former farm manager achieved the elusive target last week when he finished harvesting from a well managed one plot of roughly 2500 crop and got a total of 80 sound bags that was sold at #7000 per bag,which gave a total of #560k,bear in mind that the yield parameters gave a rough production of 3.5-4 cucumbers per plant which is not even a fantastic result,the economic potential of cucumber is yet to be fully utilized to the skillful farmer that can get 5-7 fruits per plant,that will be an incredible result,and for your other question,you can't sell cucumbers at such prices round the year for obvious reasons,from December to march is when the crop is most expensive,and for the records the highest yield I have ever seen or recorded was 114 bags from 50 grams of seed,a rookie young farmer I mentored got this result in Edo state,i was speechless when the harvest was coming in,be it a result of soil, weather or management I can't tell, maybe he was at the right place at right time.

i grew to know my dad as a farmer, but he stopped farming b4 i was matured enogh to learn the ropes__my dad didnt become rich by farming, but i enjoyed it.

well said! Weather is one of the variable that will determine your yield which you don't have power on, that is why it is always good to join prayers when you are about to cultivate.
