Players scoop up water from the pitch right before the 3SC and Go Round FC match. We need to invest in our domestic football!!

The issue people don't realize is that poor displays like that tarnish our brand internationally. Prior to the friendly, most Mexicans were excited to face the likes of Osimhen, Ndidi et al. When most people think of us, they think of our brilliant 1994 WC performance and our competitive rivalry with the Argentines. Today's loss really devalued our brand and many on twitter were unimpressed with how poor we looked. I've said this beore and I'll say it again: we need to start taking friendlies more seriously. |

lexy2014: Story. Who told u Rohr wasn't aware of d friendly? If he wasn't aware, what then was he complaining about d quality of d home based players for?
It is part of his contract to identify local based players that he will introduce into d super eagles. Didn't he no d consequences of what he signed? He signed a contract with certain conditions and u are saying that NFF is imposing on him.
Did anybody say that our best players are in d league? Kindly read this again:
"Rohr doesn't have a single passion for his job as nigerias national team coach. Before d last WC, he was also complaining and giving excuses that d players he was tak6 to d WC weren't good enough because they don't play in Barcelona, real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester city and other top clubs in Europe. And because of this, d team will fail. What type of coach is that? His own country were defending champions and had players from d best clubs in d world, yet crashed out in d group stage of d WC. There's no coach in d world that has all d type of players he wants. They make do with what they have. But Rohr wants his 22 players be Messi and Ronaldo before he will succeed"
Did u see anywhere in my comment that said d match is for FIFA ranking? D match is a friendly & it is a great exposure for d home based players and an opportunity for d technical team to identify local league players that can fit into d super eagles Shut your stinking mouth. Is being thrashed without registering a shot on goal great exposure. None of those carpenters and bricklayers can add anything meaningful to the first team. Who would any of them replace? This trip was a waste of funds and I hope they hopped on the earliest flight back to Naija. Those headless chickens should go back to playing their rubbish on those potato farms in that useless league |

timay: 4-0 not surprised.
I see some NFF and NPFL apologist giving nonsense excuses that those guys haven't played together bla bla bla. But they won't tell us how these guys have been training twice a day for two weeks straight. Yet they can't even string passes to each other comfortably or trap a simple ball. Wonder what they've been doing in training all these days.
See super falcons. Only trained for like 2 to 3 days, yet played well and didn't disgrace the country. They were more coordinated, do the basics right and played without fear even against the best women's team in the world and lost by a respectable scoreline.
Some of the players are a joke, Aigbogun their coach is a clown, and Amaju and his NFF goons that decided to prosecute this match with home based just to prove a baseless point or whatever are a complete circus The match was done to boost Mexico's confidence and brand before the Gold Cup. Mexico knows that they have a large gathering in Los Angeles and fixtures like these only help to draw more spectators and marketing revenue. Amaju and Co. used this as a pretense to "give the home boys a chance" but it was all BS and you could see the disappointment on Rohr's face. He knew these guys had no business being on that plane. |

Excellent pics. It was god awfully embarrassing. I believe this is our first time losing to Mexico. The Super Eagles is a brand that is known all over the world. Such displays devalue our brand and our football. And quite frankly, this is embarrassing to Africa. We need reassurances that we will field competitive teams no matter what. |

drDoom3: It was all business.
The excuse for not inviting foreign based players was useless.
The plan was to get a substandard national team with some repute, hype the game to sell tickets and merch, then effectively thrash the team in front of the 'home' fans. Everybody wins. Our home boys taste US for one week, Mexico boys prove dominance at 'home', money is made. The only people that will suffer are the real fans who paid to see a classic and were dissapointed.
The whole thing is like all those nonsense WWE John Cena setups when they'll hype the opponent, outnumber Cena etc. Then Cena wins against all odds, fans are happy, money is made, etc etc.
It's very shameful. It was done to boost Mexican confidence before the Gold cup. Amaju lied to those boys' faces telling them they were better than MLS players |
