Thank you for this. I wanted to comment on this too yesterday when i saw the statement. Accounting is not even close to Finance at all. you can also enrol for CFA and you would be a hot cake. Thank you bracelum: You have a good GPA. Please rewrite the TOEFL and GMAT/GRE and target top state universities. One missing element in your profile is your work experience. How many years of work experience do you have?
With improved GMAT/GRE and TOEFL scores, and a 3+ years of work experience, you can easily join MBA-Finance programs in top universities like UT Austin, UNC Kenan Flagler, Notre Dame, Penn State and Washington University in St Louis with full aid. These universities have good career centers that can help you attract strong firms.
Finally, someone mentioned that you disregard Finance and focus on Accounting because Accounting is more lucrative. I would suggest you disregard that comment because I don't think that person understands the industry properly. Finance and tech and the two highest paying jobs in the US. I would even say financial experts earn higher than techies because most tech firms pay via stock options while finance firms give you astronomical bonuses as cash. IBs, PEs, and VCs pay very much higher than accounting firms. Except it is corporate finance, accounting doesn't pay close to finance.
So, if your career goal is based only on the $$$, finance beats accounting any day!!! |

MasterforceII: Congrats. Did your MBA admit come with any scholarship? I just got the email yesterday. I have sent them an email about the scholarship. Also, the information i got from my friend is that they usually send the letter for scholarship separately. Am optimistic and expectant. |

Happiness67: Bro, 43k no be small something..But everything is possible by God's Grace. The VO's are looking for consistent flow of income into the account. Many questions like how much is the salary that enters into the account of your sister or family member monthly? Is it much? And also know that you have like 5 months towards fall 19 interview, how much can enter within that 5 months? The word is consistency here,A sudden flow or rush of income into the account might be a cause of concern to the V.O.Just try to consider these things and make the best choice of account. Thanks What about case like if you receive performance bonus from the office and its a lump sum and came into the account once. Will that fly? |

MasterforceII: Hmm. I think it depends on the program you're going for and the job prospects it provides upon completion. An MBA program for instance in a good school has a good ROI so you can pay off the loan in no time. Same goes for an engineering/computer science course and some science courses.
The only hurdle I see is convincing the VO but I know some people who've obtained visas with loans so I don't think this should be that much of a problem.
I was offered an application fee waiver for an MBA from a top 50 school so I just thought to apply, the worst that could happen was a denial, right? I was offered admission with partial funding and i would consider seeking for a loan too if I decide to pursue an MBA over my MS/PhD applications. When that time comes. What is the name of the school? |

Had my interview today. To be honest with you all ehn. I cannot comprehend all I said to get the white paper. It was like something else assumed me. I'm saying because I can't give a transcript and I know I learnt a lot from reading people's transcript.
It was my first time though. It was an MBA program with focus on financial management and investment. Lincoln university California is the school.
But my advice is simple. Know well about the course you are going for. Please don't cram.
Thank you nairalanders.. You groomed me!!![/quote]Can i get your contact? |
