[quote author=Venerable612 If you love advocacy (going to court) then go for Barrister. if you prefer office lawyering (go Solicitor). Over here in Naija, there is no division. We do both. For me, I would wish you go for Barrister. It will help you if you come back home later. |
IamDejman:There is no law prohibiting recording of lectures. You can record any lecture you wish to. Some lectures may not want to be recorded for fear of being quoted. |
Tobbylobar:Law is an interesting profession. However I will advise you on the following. 1. NOUN is not accredited to run law degree program. the implication is that you cannot only be a law graduate with an LLB degree but you can't be a lawyer as you can't be admitted to the law school. Note that it is until after law school that you can become a lawyer. You can Google "Accredited Faculties of Law of Nigeria Universities" 2. Most universities in Nigeria accept Direct Entry after your ND/HND. You must however have a good o'level with compulsory credits in (English. Lang & Literature in English ). 3. Law is not a lucrative profession. You ll be better off with your masters and professional programmes than spending 5/6yrs for Law degree (it won't matter if you re below 18yrs) Let me stop here for now. |

[quote author=donLEXY]Visited the link sent but can't navigate my way around, but all in all, it's like a medical doctor taking the job of a Nurse just because the title nurse has evolved..... Some people studies secretariat study by the way, and worse come to push, those in the business environment can take that job, why should someone with a professional certification take such (just wondering and still wasted years). ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES is involve [/qu Lawyers are usually company secretary-particularly those with ICSA. Being a Secretary doesn't mean a waste of legal Knowledge rather a demonstration of Legal Knowledge particularly for lawyers in Commercial/ Secretarial Practice. It is a Lawyer (Company Secretary) that files annual returns and other processes on behalf of a company among other things and perform some other administrative roles. If you must know, most lawyer today are chattered secretaries including my humble self. Lets I forget, while some company prefer to have a Legal officer, others term it Company Secretary while some big company may have the both. |

Legal jobs are rarely posted on Nairaland. A lot of nairalanders work in law firms and establishments who often recruit legal minds. Advertisement calling for a legal practitioner is often seen everywhere in our courts. I am therefore compelled to use this medium to bring these adverts to our ever increasing nairaland family (of which I have benefited a lot from). So if you have or see any job vacancy for the post of a Legal Practitioner of whatever experience or any job requiring a graduate of Law, kindly post it here for the betterment of the learned mind of this honourable assembly. Thank you. |
