Izen: And men? Why do we always put the pressure to make marriage work on one gender? The issue the OP raised is concerning the woman. But anyway a man to can use the approach to strategically win back a woman and maintain a good relationship with each other. The essence is to enjoy ones home rather than endure it. Marriage is sweet but it requires the right work and approach to make it blossom. |

Keneking: 3 Nigerians Promoted To Rank Of Professor At University Of Cape Town
Dear colleagues
It is with great pleasure and pride that we announce on behalf of Senate that a total of 112 academic and technical staff members of the University of Cape Town have been promoted in 2016. These staff members will be honoured through a celebratory event to take place on Tuesday, 19 April 2016.
Their achievement is the reward for all the efforts they have been putting in over the years, which has been demonstrated through their exceptional teaching and research abilities, enthusiastic participation in socially responsive scholarship and professional activities, and the significant way in which they have contributed to leadership and academic administration.
The number of academic ad hominem promotions signals the aggregate contributions made by these individuals in promoting UCT both locally and internationally.
We thank all of them for their contributions. Please join us in congratulating them on their outstanding achievement and wishing them well.
Sincerely,
Professor Sandra Klopper Acting Vice-Chancellor

BiafranNigerian: No, DipoDee, I am not a demon-possessed or a Sociopath. Have you noticed that some of you spent so much time-energy chastising me to provide the solution than ask him to beg for it ? Is it not odd ? That a sick person with erectile dysfunction is NOT ready to beg for free solution, but you find it easy to insult me to provide him the solution ? That is the chief reason people have problems in their lives. I have seen 11 pages on this thread, and no one, no single person has solution for him. And yet, he doesnt want to beg to get a real shot at the solution ? Hell No, my good fellow, Life is not fair, and I am not here to make it fair. Allow the main to suffer enough to become humble or be humbled by his fate. Dear Great One, Please share the info and overlook his "arrogance" since you are older and more knowledgeable than him. @ Grossintel please in the name of the Almighty apologise to him and get solution. I am sorry won't diminish your person. Once again pls share the solution |

benzion72: Bla bla bla bla
What is the use of research that cannot solve power problem, solve common Agricultural problems, produce high yielding varieties, disease resistance and uniform plant. Nigeria mechanical engineer who can not change his car engine oil. i use to have one Engineer Doctor Bla bla bla. Call Oyedepo any name, let them respond to his challenge with solutions to African problem. see the ignorance you displayed, we are here talking about PhD you are talking about car engine oil. Enlarge your scope and don't restrict yourself, the world is a global village. I know many Engineers who practice in their field.I know of PhD holders who are proffering solutions to problems and consulting for ministries, departments, the Nigerian military etc. The problem we have in Nigeria is a systemic one kindly ask the Bishop if covenant University granted the PhD holders grant to carry out research or they used their hard earned monies to carry out research. Can a bricklayer or mason contribute appropriately where discussion is on the GDP on Nigeria and also can an Engineer contribute appropriately to a discussion on Law." people just dey yarn rubbish even wetin dem no sabi anything about" |

preggi: Bishop you are wrong It brings to bear a question mark on your PhD. The PhD is different from all other degrees. From Pre- Nursery to MSc the emphasis is on acquiring knowledge, write your exams and you are graded. Your retention ability is tested but for the PhD it is not. In a PhD the emphasis is the ability to carry out research professionally and it is not about competing with your classmates. Firstly let me correct my highly esteemed Bishop, PhD's don't do projects, they carry out research. The essence of the research is to be able to solve a unique or novel problem in ones field of endeavour and the results or solution must pass through peer review from highly placed or renowned Professors world wide. The problem we have in Nigeria is our perspective of the PhD and we will be better off if we see the PhD as the lowest in the Professional Academic world rather than the highest. The PhD is not the highest rather it is the least qualification one need to enter the academia and that is why after the PhD many still go for the Post Doctoral. It is just a testimonial that one can carry out a research professionally. Go to the western world as see young men and women even as young as 23 with PhD's and many just started their career in academia or in R& . Pls before you place me on the crucifix take out time to read a book titled PhD: a guide.... by James Hayton. Ground breaking research are carried out by PhD holders....researchers are in the labs working on the implementation of 5G networks and you are here with 3G network blabbing. just because it is not happening in Nigeria does not mean it so else |

Chinekepikin: – Bishop Oyedepo has said that a doctorate degree is only but paper, except the knowledge acquired is used to impact lives
– The founder of Winners chapel made the disclosure to some PhD graduates of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun state
– Oyedepo lamented over the numerous situations in which those certified with PhDs, have little or nothing to offer
– The bishop promised to fund projects carried out by few PhD graduates of Covenant University (CU)
David Oyedepo, the presiding Bishop and founder of Living Faith Church worldwide, has said that an inability to identify problems and solve them, renders every PhD degree useless.
While addressing few PhD graduates of the Covenant University (CU) in Ota, Ogun state, Oyedepo urged people to come up with innovations that can solve problems plaguing the society.
The Chancellor, told them their inability to do so would mean their research programme was useless.
Bishop Oyedepo promised to make funds available to them to identify problems and find solutions.
Spoke at a meeting with the young scholars, Oyedepo said Nigeria has been unable to address its challenges because of a lack of capacity to get the job done.
He decried situation in which PhD holders seemingly lacked the thinking capacity.
He said: “I have come to provoke your potential. There is more inside you than the earned certificate. If you cannot think out solutions to problems, your PhD is a complete waste.
“When we say Doctor of Philosophy, we are saying master of thinkers; someone committed to finding solution to life’s problems. And until our learning translates to thinking, our PhD is zero.
“All that we have done going through the rigour of PhD is to ignite our thinking capacity. It’s so important that we have what it takes to recreate our country and the world.
” Hinting that Nigeria has more PhDs than four European countries, Oyedepo wondered why Nigeria was not getting similar result as the Europeans.
“The gas turbine (at CU) was not working because Shell was on strike. So why can’t students of Chemical Engineering build reserves? Why do we look at problems as if we are not concerned?”
Oyedepo said the scholars must learn to management themselves, time and task, to be able to provide solutions to problems.
He noted that the scholars must learn to manage themselves, for qualitative production.
Meanwhile, Oyedepo has challenged the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer solutions to the socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria rather than blaming any political party or individual for the current travails facing the nation.
He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be more sensitive to issues that affect ordinary Nigerians.
