Imagine how this reporter decided to define the man by his occupation. And I feel sad many people are thinking that way. |
Jokerman:If you believe so, you are right; if you don't, you are right too, you are right. We see the world the way we are, not necessarily the way things are. However, love and sacrifice for one's nation is still very much alive in Nigeria. It is those who believe otherwise that makes it more difficult for those who do. |
Mynd44:Well, if they are afraid, that's the best decision. In my case, I was begged by my family not to participate but I considered that that participating is the true opportunity to serve my nation. I had faith in God and when posted to a volatile spot, that faith rescued us. |
Every I get more convinced that, together as a people, we can make Nigeria a nation where good, great dreams find fulfilment. |
datyrone:No. A man can lie on his bed. Say bye bye to his family and pass on. Something doesn't have to kill. |
Nwakaumu:You mean because one Yoruba was president of Nigeria, all Yorubas should now be addressed as Ex-president? Hatred and tribalism negatively affect reasoning. Don't let them get the best of you. |
tollyboy5:I disagree. Suicide is a proof of weakness or fear of the unknown. * I am not a Biafran.* |

worlexy:Trump was never in politics. |
You don't know who and what he will be up against them. So there is no logic in that. In my opinion, it's time to try new people. Nothing new is expected from these recycled politicians. In fact, Nigerians need a reason to believe again. New parties, fresh political blood. Linzo: |
* Thanks Blue3k Let's keep it rolling. Who else is there? |
Absolutely agree with you especially on local government autonomy and true federalism and industrialization. I believe we will need a Senate to address related to foreign affairs, and other issues related to the generality of Nigeria. But that we State parliamentsdelegates should join as National Assembly when issues that can affect state operations need to be dealt with. Blue3k: |
Okay let me start. One out of many actually. I feel strongly about a win-win employer-employee relationship. I believe that anyone who dares to start a company in Nigeria deserves to have very loyal employees and I also believe that a staff-first approach to business (which gaining international acknowledgment right now) is the best. Wal-Mart, for example, is a global giant when it comes to the retailer's industry. The company took on, so to speak, another life when the staff we allowed to invest in the company and everyone knew that if they give their best, it is not just the employer that grows rich. I feel very passionately about this, one because I hate seeing people being treated like (or even less than)things- "resources" they call them just like cash, furniture and buildings- and this is happening all over this nation. Two, because I have met people who complained bitterly about there jobs (how they are overworked) but have no assurance of getting another if they resigned so they feel caged, helpless and enslaved in their own country- sometimes by foreigners. When they eventually retire, many people will start nursing chronic diseases that resulted from job stress but the employer will no more be there to foot the bills- if they ever did before (right now, a major percentage don't). In view of the foregoing, I see a Nigeria where staffs in companies and organizations will see themselves as, act like and be treated as they really are (socioeconomically): PARTNERS, not resources or statistics. |
Who's there? |
dikerebel:Firstly, as a nation I strongly believe we need to start seeing what we can become and not just what we are today. We can only truly move forward when we are not just running away from our past but running towards a future we prefer. Secondly, we all are authorities in our own rights when it comes to our experiences in this nation. When we share from our experience, it brings topics to life and help us see how real the issues are that someone else may never have considered important. In other words, it will help us see Nigeria from your own view-point. Thirdly, I hope that the time will come when someone who reads your post and thereby feel what you have felt will be in the position to act on the idea(s) you share here. This can become a practical idea bank for anyone who takes Nigerians seriously. |
Anyone embarking on a journey without a destination in mind is going to arrive at a destination he has no plans for. Could you please paint a picture of the Nigeria you want to identify with-- regardless of what the past and present nation so called has been to you? Kindly give practical clues, for example what you will experience differently from what you experience today at home, at work, in your industry or any area you are personally having challenges or you feel strongly about with the current Nigerian nation. cc: Lalasticlacla |
Someone may want to know how Nigeria will make money from the above. 1. The more successful businesses we have, the more revenue we can get from tax- although we intend cutting down on taxes while expanding the volume of tax payers more aggressively 2. With strategic expansion of these companies, we will start earning more in forex making the value of the Naira gradually appreciate this cutting down the cost of doing business in Nigeria. 3. Because of the system we are adopting, money will be available for other solutions my administration will be investing in. |
For us, it's not just draining the swamp we need. We also have to fill the tanks. |
Other concerns are welcome. It's all about Nigerians and Nigeria and you can stimulate more thoughts and we will all get educated in the end. I'm not here to prove superiority of ideas; I know I will always be a student. So share what you think. |
@ mrvitalis That is the fear that has kept many potential Facebook, so to say, to stay in the realm of ideas sometimes till the death of the potential entrepreneurs. The fear of someone not stealing the idea. Do you think innovators who participate in investment competitions on Tv are fools? No,they are very smart. If after their ideas are so made public they don't win, it's easier to get funds from other investors watching. And,although that fear is reasonable, many "rich people " you talked about will rather invest than get themselves directly involved in the running of such businesses. They will need the original owner of the idea at the early stage at least. Well, you can ask the banks, gsm mobile phone manufacturers and the telecoms companies. They'll tell you that if your idea is good enough then prepare to have competitors. So why should a government-backed innovator and entrepreneur be afraid of having one or two competitors. Also, innovators have the opportunity to apply for patent rights before making their inventions public. If the assigned committee to handle this finds out no patent right has been applied for and it is essential for the product or service, they will have the mandate to assist in that too. DON'T THROW AWAY AN IDEA BECAUSE IT LOOKS BAD TO YOU. *Thanks for the comments though.* |
mrvitalis:Read carefully before commenting. Did you see any suggestion of private company ownership structure? Maybe this will help you: what's the number of total investors allowed in a private company and what's the example given above? By the way, that's not economics. |
mrvitalis:Meaning you didn't understand the concept. There is nothing to need banks ' money for. It is publicly funded. |
Ideas are not wanting. All we need are leaders who will be free enough to implement them- whose allegiances are only to God and to the people, to Nigeria. ** Share your opinion here please. I'm listening.** |
Please check out other ideas I'm coming up with and make your contributions to help refine them here: https://www.nairaland.com/3484597/what-president-nigeria Meaning that we the people of this nation and not some should first agree whether or not we truly want to stay together? |
@ Atiku2019, like I mentioned before, Nigerians need to stop recycling political elites as if the younger generation have nothing to contribute to their future and that of their children. |
mrvitalis:One of the principles of transformational development is that you don't dismiss an idea because it looks bad TO YOU. Just state your concerns and it forms a platform for further discussion on the issue. In the end everyone gets better informed and equipped. Having said that, to your concern about what percentages will be shared by those who bring up the ideas and those who invest in them. That's simple. Before the idea is made available to the investing general public, the committee selecting the idea would have done the negotiation to secure a win-win for both parties. Members of the public not interested in the outcome of the negotiation will simply not invest. And if the volume of investment is inadequate, an evaluation and renegotiation will be done based on feedbacks from the public. Afterwards, the idea will be represented for investment. **Thanks for that contributions.** |
Which of them do you want your village or town to look like? @ Lalasticlacla Ishilove oga Seun |
Once upon a time, all the places in the photos below may be worse than your village in Nigeria. So who says our villages too cannot develop and become better than these. The key is vision and visionary leadership. Imagine how one man turned a desert wasteland to a most visited business tourist centre: Dubai Your village is better than what Dubai used to be.
