Following a $2.5 Billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Brazilian firm for investment in the livestock sector, a team from the Brazilian protein company were in Niger state for a fact-finding mission of some livestock facilities in Minna, the State capital.

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who received them, said the livestock development project between the Federal Government of Nigeria and a Brazilian firm would open more doors of development.

The Governor was upbeat about the development while hosting the Brazilian protein company’s team on a fact-finding mission to some livestock facilities in the State.

Addressing the team led by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Hajiya Aisha Rimi, he said.
the State government is indeed excited with the project as the effects of its value chain are huge.

He pointed out that it cuts across crop production and animal husbandry, among other things, adding that “it is heartwarming, having the world’s largest protein company, with a huge turnover, visit the State for investment.”

He then thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making Niger State a pilot State for such a beneficial project.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Hajiya Aisha Rimi, described Niger State as the food capital of the nation; thus, the State is a vital State to consider for such a project.

Representative of the firm, Fabio Maia described Nigerians as hardworking people willing to work, which he said was an asset.


He said the investment also brings about the exchange of knowledge, adding that with Nigeria’s growing population, a big market, and tremendous opportunities, the project will be a success.

After the inspection, the team expressed satisfaction with the facilities and said they were confident the project would be a massive success in the state.

President Bola Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm the chairpersons and other nominated management and board nominees of the South-east Development Commission (SEDC) and the North-west Development Commission (NWDC).

The president’s request was contained in a letter read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during the plenary on Tuesday.

Apart from the chairpersons, the president nominated persons for the executive directors, managing directors/chief executive officers, and members of the boards.

For the SEDC, President Tinubu nominated Emeka Worgu, a former minister of labour and productivity from Abia State, as chairman, while Mark Okoye was named as the managing director/chief executive officer;

Stanley Ohajuruka, a former speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, was named Executive Director (Finance); Toby Okechukwu Executive Director (Projects); and Sylvester Okonkwo Executive Director (Corporate Services).
Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede were also appointed executive directors.

The SEDC board members are Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, Hyacinth Ikpor, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Hamma Ali Kumo, Edward Onoja, Orure Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.

For the NWDC, Lawal Abdullahi was appointed chairman; Abdullahi Ma’aji, a professor, was named the managing director/chief executive officer.

The board members are Ja’afar Sadeeq, Yahaya Abdulhadi, Yahaya Namahe, Yahaya Abdulhadi, Muhammad Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, and Aminu Suleiman.

President Tinubu urged lawmakers to consider expediting confirmation of the nominees.
After reading the letter, Mr Akpabio said the president’s request would be directed to the ad hoc committee to be constituted soon by the Senate.

The chairpersons and board members of the two commissions are expected to be screened by the Senate’s ad hoc committee. After the screening, the committee will present its report to the Senate during the plenary to adopt or reject it.

No. They pee it out. This dude does not even know that NNPC does not operate any oil rig of itself. It gets free crude from the IOCs and indigenous players. So yes!! NNPC gets crude free of charge.

Learn to read and understand simple English. If I come to ask you if you will buy groceries from your neighbour who has spoken of starting a grocery shop, will you say No you will not buy? Even NNPC has said they are selling to NNPC outlets alone for now. Let the refinery start selling at N300 to independent marketers then we can have something serious to talk about

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, yesterday expressed optimism that its members would be able to load products from the Port Harcourt refinery this week.

The NNPC Limited owned 60,000 barrels per day refinery which commenced operations last week is said to be refining at 70 percent capacity.

Speaking to Vanguard, the Public Relations Officer, IPMAN, Chief Chinedu Ukadike, said the refinery currently supplies only NNPC retail and a few marketers.

Ukadike explained that with the expected increase in the supply of petroleum products from the refinery, independent marketers were expected to load products from the facility.

He also disclosed that marketers were now lifting directly from Dangote Refinery after the deal reached with the management and the decision of the refinery to reduce the minimum bulk purchase for marketers to two million litres for petrol.

“Our members are buying products from Dangote Refinery because Dangote has finally reduced the minimum quantity of bulk purchase to two million litres. So most of our members are now able to access it”.

Ukadike pointed out that getting access to load directly from the refineries has made the market more competitive as independent marketers are now able to compete with other major marketers.

“Petroleum products distribution has been smooth and there are no queues but what you will see is a bit of price differentials. This is the beauty of deregulation. Not only that but with the coming onstream of Port Harcourt Refinery there is also less pressure on Dangote products.

“Although most marketers have not started accessing products from Port Harcourt refinery hopefully by next week (this week), according to an official of NNPC, they will have enough to accommodate independent marketers”.

GEJ Keeping subsidy is a big reason why we have debt. He should have removed subsidy in 2012 completely and told Tinubu and Buhari to sit down.

As at 2011, we spent three times on subsidy than what we spent in 2010. THAT IS WHY GEJ wanted to raise prices to N140 per liter.



If your man and Buhari had said the thing in 2012, that GEJ was right and subsidy had to go, by now we would have had at least 4 dangote type refineries ready to go.

Sometimes, using economics to play politics, like your guys did in 2012, is not right. Anyway, karma struck in 2023, when tinubu was forced to remove subsidy, because the resulting debts from keeping it in 2012 created wahala.

Both of you are big hypocrites. You support subsidy removal when it favours you, and get abusive when it does not.

Oil marketers and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have signed a deal for a hitch-free distribution of petroleum products during and after the Yuletide season.

This was disclosed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Petroleum Retail Operators Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) Dr Joseph Obele on Friday, following an official visit of the National President of PETROAN Dr Billy Hary, alongside his team to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL in Abuja.

The association also presented an award as an honourary life council member of PETROAN, and as the most productive GMD/GCEO of NNPCL to Kyari.

“The strategic meeting was very successful as matters on effective collaboration between the NNPCL and PETROAN to ensure seamless distribution of petroleum products across the country during and after the yuletide period were discussed.

“The high point of the meeting was the presentation of award by PETROAN led by the National President of PETROAN to the GCEO of NNPC as an honorary life council member of PETROAN and as the most productive GMD/GCEO of NNPC.

“The National President of PETROAN Dr. Billy Gillis-Harry appreciated the GCEO for his efforts towards resuscitating the Port Harcourt Refinery and the general growth of the Nigerian petroleum Industry,” the statement said.
