If I remember correctly, we read on this same forum last year that a feasibility study was carried out on ajaokuta and they decided it'll be too expensive to refurbish due to the parts used to building it are now extinct.

It's a big difference between loyalty to your country and loyalty to some stupid political party or leader

Remember this 👇🏾
The original builders are the ones going to handle this project and the only thing standing in the way was funding and it has been taken care of. Better you get sense now.

PoliticsRehabilitation Of Ajaokuta Steel Plant To Commence In Q1 2025 - Natasha Akpoti by PressMyButton(op): 1:26pm On Dec 06, 2024
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, chairman senate committee on local content, says plans are underway to kick-start the revitalisation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company plants in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025.

In September, Shuaibu Audu, minister of steel development, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the builders of the Ajaokuta steel plant, Messrs Tyazhpromexport (TPE), for the rehabilitation, completion, and operation of the plant and the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO).

Speaking on Tuesday at the ongoing Practical Nigerian Content Forum organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Bayelsa state, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the federal government has located the main constructors of the steel to revamp it and keep it running.

She assured that work would commence on the steel company next year.

“I would like to give credit to the president, who has committed extensive political will in ensuring that the Ajaokuta Steel Company has been connected with the original builders,” Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

“A certain number of MoUs and agreements have been undertaken, and in the first quarter of next year, we are hoping that the Tyajz Prom Export, who are the original builders of the plant, will be on the ground to kick-start the revitalisation of the steel plant.

“That means we are setting ourselves, our country, strategically to begin to manufacture the core components and machines that are utilised in the oil and gas sector.”

The senator further said for every deep water operation, rigs are utilised and the cheapest rig stands at about $10 million while some go as much as $25 million.

“And what actually makes up a rig? Steel. So, just imagine, count how many rigs you have in Nigerian waters. Imagine if we had those rigs manufactured in-country,” she said.

“That means we would have saved so much money and we would have created so many jobs.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan also said breaking new frontiers requires both strategic vision and boldness, adding that the journey ahead may be challenging, but “it is essential”.

PoliticsArmy Presents Electric Motorcycles To Some Soldiers In Division 3 by PressMyButton(op): 12:30pm On Dec 05, 2024
The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in a sustained initiative aimed at recognising exceptional performance within its ranks has presented electric motorcycles to outstanding soldiers of the division.

It also said the decision to provide electric motorcycles to deserving soldiers was a strategic move to reduce dependence on fossil fuel by personnel while also underscoring the Division’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Presenting the motorcycles to the deserving soldiers at the Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos on Wednesday, the GOC and Commander Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Major General AE Abubakar emphasised that the presentation aligns with the current drive of the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. OO Oloyede which highlights the importance of sound administration and the welfare of troops.

Abubakar also noted that this initiative builds upon efforts initiated in 2022 under the leadership of the previous GOC, Major General AB Ibrahim, wherein deserving personnel were similarly rewarded.

According to him, “The electric motorcycles which have a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour, can cover a distance of 100 km when fully charged for a period of 2 hours.

“It is both efficient and eco-friendly; and will serve as a sustainable mode of transportation within Maxwell Khobe Cantonment whilst helping to minimise the Division’s carbon footprint and supporting a cleaner, greener Nigeria”, he explained.

“To further achieve the objective of the initiative which amongst others includes reducing the cost of transportation to personnel within the cantonment, especially to work, a charging room has been constructed at the headquarters where personnel could easily charge the electric motorcycles while at work”, the GOC maintained.

“The initiative to present the electric motorcycle to the Division’s best-performing personnel is a further testament to the Acting Chief of Army Staff’s commitment to prioritising troops’ welfare as always.

The GOC averred that the recognition of hard work to personnel would continue in phases in 3 Division as it has now been institutionalised based on the foundation laid by his predecessor.

He therefore encouraged troops to maintain their dedication to service and excellence, as hard work will be duly recognised and rewarded.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Warrant Officer Ibrahim Fidelis, thanked the division for finding them worthy of the gesture.
He assured that it would surely boost their morale to continue to perform their constitutional role diligently.

SmartPolician:
Oga Bayo Onanuga, I had to quickly google your background to find out if you are a midstream oil/gas engineer. Funnily enough, I saw that you are a journalist.

I don't care if that refinery is working or not, but next time make sure you do fact-checking with people with vast industry experience. It makes your story more believable.

Na for this country dem dey use generator supply power to a power plant just to deceive one president who came to commission it.
Someone went on a fact checking visits right there at the refinery yet you're still saying he should fact check with people with experience?. Those engineers at the refinery are they gala hawkers or okrika sellers?. Y'all naysayers just always want to open your mouths and talk anything despicable.
NUPENG, PENGASSAN, PETROAN, IPMAN Association of Chemical Engineers have all done on-the-spot assessment and have authenticated the report that the refinery has commenced operations but it won't enter your ears since that is not what you wanted to hear.

PoliticsBayo Onanuga Visits Port Harcourt Refinery, Shares Insights, Photos by PressMyButton(op): 9:33am On Dec 05, 2024
In a post shared on his social media account early Thursday, Onanuga revealed that he, along with a delegation, visited the refinery on Wednesday to verify its status.

This visit followed reports questioning the facility’s operational state, despite the management’s announcement that crude oil processing had resumed. The Port Harcourt Refinery officially restarted operations on November 26 after years of inactivity. However, skepticism among Nigerians, fueled by concerns raised by some stakeholders, led to doubts about its revival.

After the inspection, Onanuga assured Nigerians that the refinery is indeed up and running, dismissing circulating misinformation.

During the visit, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the refinery by its Managing Director, Ibrahim Onoja. Onanuga expressed satisfaction with the progress observed, noting that while the refinery is not yet operating at full capacity, it is functioning at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans underway to increase output.

Putting to Rest Rumours about Port Harcourt Refinery Complex:  Our Fact-Finding Mission

I was part of a fact-finding team that visited the 60,000 barrels daily Port Harcourt Refining Complex on Wednesday. I will now share our findings. Our mission was to verify the rumours circulating about the refinery's state, and I am pleased to report that we were satisfied with what we saw.

Our team, guided by the refinery's Managing Director Ibrahim Onoja, toured the entire complex, from the computerised control room to the loading bay and every section in between. We asked pointed questions and received satisfactory answers, dispelling our doubts and misconceptions.

Nigerians must ignore naysayers and false information about the refinery's operations. While it is not currently running at 100%, it is functioning at 70% installed capacity, with plans to increase production shortly. Furthermore, the refinery receives regular crude supplies, contrary to claims that it lacks crude to refine.

During our visit, we confirmed that the refinery produces petroleum products, including kerosene, low-pour fuel oil, LPG, diesel, and gasoline. The latter is blended with other products to make the petrol we use in our cars. We even tested samples of the products.

The refinery's recent overhaul has transformed it into a modern facility. We saw upgraded and replaced parts, including part of the 300km new pipelines. Some parts the company had not changed in 27 years have been replaced with new ones, bringing the refinery up to 21st-century standards.

The revamping work has indeed brought the refinery back to life. What was once a 20th-century refinery has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility.

We also visited the co-located second Port Harcourt refinery, commissioned in 1989. Workers were busy dismantling old, rusty parts and replacing them with new ones. Although officials declined to provide a timeline for its completion, there was an air of confidence that it would soon be operational, joining its 60,000 barrels a day counterpart.

My curiosity has been satisfied. I commend NNPC Limited and the refinery team for reviving this dead asset, which was on the verge of becoming a museum piece.

Our fact-finding mission has buried the various doubts and lies about the Port Harcourt Refinery Complex.

I hope noisemakers are watching the moves of Jagaban, the master strategist. He did not withdraw the bill, he directed AGF to work with NASS to address contentious areas in the bill. Senate then set up a committee to meet with the AGF to address the grey areas. Most of the members of the committee are Jagaban's boys. Meanwhile, Jagaban is still in South Africa while his boys in Aso rock are running things, When he comes back, every issues will be case closed. Opposition will have their say and Jagaban will have his way.
