EfemenaXY: Really?

You call that wisdom? I'll tell you what I see...

~ vulnerable children forced into child labour, risking their young lives as they ply dangerous highways hawking for a pittance. (Kidnappings, easy targets for ritualists, or getting crushed on busy motor ways as they chase after moving vehicles selling a few bags of pure water and groundnuts)

~ vulnerable targets packed off to relatives to do houseboy / housegirl work. (Easily subjected to child abuse, mistreatment, or even killed in the process)

~ Vulnerable children whose parents can barely afford to send them to school, let alone support their education. End result? Frustration, repeating a class several times, eventual drop out.

Come to think of it, what sort of backgrounds do touts, Agberos, and perpetrators of "Jungle Justice" come from?

Yes, I see the "wisdom" in your post.

Very wise indeed.
No point trying to explain myself again n again . Tired of replying n it's my bed time . Have a great weekend . Bye
FamilyRe: Please Pray For A Brother by priest2u(m): 8:11am On Sep 14, 2014
EfemenaXY: That doesn't answer the questions I asked you.

Budgeting? Or blind faith?

And I still want you to tell me the price of Pampers and SMA.
Now tell me , how do poor people that can't afford pampers raise their kids ? Must they use pampers . Open your mind and let wisdom find you.
FamilyRe: Please Pray For A Brother by priest2u(m): 8:01am On Sep 14, 2014
EfemenaXY: What unnecessary question(s) have I asked? You think asking someone to plan wisely and budget accordingly before undertaking life changing decisions is unnecessary?

I see.

Unlike you, I don't chase the bandwagon and do follow-follow. I have a mind of my own, and if my opinions differ, I have no qualms expressing them.

Besides, I don't wish hardship on anyone. Naija is a tough place to begin with. So why place yourself in an unnecessarily difficult situation if waiting for a little bit longer would avert the stress?

Anyway, that's by the wayside. I'm a realist and prefer to deal with facts. Have you found out the prices of the few items I listed, seeing as you support @op's stand of "God will provide"?
There is a lot of wisdom in what I posted but you mind is so closed that you can't see them . There will always be rich , middle and poor families . Some people will be born poor but that doesn't mean they are going to die poor. Why is that so difficult for you to understand ?
Let me use myself as an example . I was born to a poor family , my dad salary cannot feed us in one week. My mom did not have formal education . Through my mum petty trade me and my siblings were all able to attend university in Nigeria . After my first degree , I proceeded to the USA for masters and by Gods grace I live and work here now . I was born poor but certainly not going to die poor. I love my parents for their sacrifice and growing up poor has helped develop some survival skills.

EfemenaXY: Excuse me!

If you've got comprehension problems understanding my post written in simple English, all you had to do was ask for an explanation! I detest people like you who resort to name calling as a way of attempting to express themselves.

Anyway, your points are invalid and moot as far as I'm concerned. You obviously support child poverty with your "God will provide" principle. I mean, how do you explain pushing for someone who's struggling to keep his head above water - to go and get hitched and then bring in kids to a life of abject poverty? Just in case you don't know, no child deserves that. Children do not ask to be born and it's totally irresponsible to subject them to a life of hardship.

A real man will understand that. Now you go into your nearest supermarket and find out the price of:

~ A 900g tin of powdered SMA. Multiply that by 36 to give you an idea of how much it will cost on average to feed a new born a year. (You do know that irrespective of your 'faith', babies need to eat, yes?)

~ A pack of 54 pampers / Huggies / your local brand of nappies. A newborn uses an average of 6 nappies per day. So you're looking at an average of at least 3 large packs a month. Now multiply that by 12 to give you an idea of what that will cost for a year.

~ Baby clothes. Mind you, they grow quickly.

~ Antenatal and post-natel care

And much more. I've only mentioned the absolute basics. Now kindly explain to me how someone who can hardly look after himself can meet any of those costs let alone a wife and kid. Will he not still need to pay for rent, gas, fuel, electricity, water, and FOOD??

Abi "God will provide" all of those too?
I think u are the one with comprehension problem otherwise you would have just wish d op well and stop asking unnecessary question .

aisha2: If only you would read and comprehend, this wouldn't be necessary, don't assume or infer what I never wrote please. You cannot tell what or what not to write
The advice was for the poster it's his to take or leave.
Bye
I knew u'll throw insult , typical NL . Well I've made my point .
Thanks
FamilyRe: Please Pray For A Brother by priest2u(m):
aisha2: KINDLY show me one place I mentioned comfort, riches or poverty in my post.
Thank you
First you took side with Efe . Second, you raise too many question that are not relevant if he has found d right woman to marry .
FamilyRe: Please Pray For A Brother by priest2u(m): 5:47am On Sep 14, 2014
aisha2: Don't be so quick to attack Efe and label her a pessimist
As much as we have faith, faith without works is dead.
I know so many situations where people assumed marriage would be their breakthrough and when it didn't happen their spouse became the scape goat calling them bad luck and evil.
What Efe means is beyond hoping the marriage will be the solution to your challenges have a plan.
The lady you want to marry does she work to support you?
What percentage of what you earn now can you put aside for house keeping?

If a child comes after marriage can you afford the expenses?
What kind of wedding do you hope to have??

We don't make plans because we are faithless we make plans because we have faith that when we start God steps in but God will need something to work with. When Jesus was turning water into wine the people provided the water he used
When Jesus fed 5000 the people provided the initial loaves and fishes.
So in essence have a well laid out plan beyond " God will provide " and " he who finds a wife".
I have one question for you , is marriage only for the rich or comfortable? Poor people also get married , raised kids and that's d fact of life . Don't work yourself too much over things you can't understand . Even your bible says " he made both d poor and d rich " . The idea that a man must be comfortable before getting married is so wrong , he just need to look for a woman at his own level . There is a man for every woman and vice versa.
There are so many market women with petty trade in Nigeria sending their children to higher institution . A strong and virtuous woman can never be afraid to get married to a poor man #FACT#
FamilyRe: Please Pray For A Brother by priest2u(m):
EfemenaXY: Exactly my point, sis!

I personally don't see the need for the creation of this thread in the first place. Nairalanders praying for a person who willingly wants to jump from frying pan to the fire ill-prepared...

Anyway, good luck with his ventures sha.
Why are you discouraging him ? Between everyone is free to marry whenever they feel it's time , you sound like a gold digger. You don't sound like a woman who is willing to work hard with a man she loves and build a future together . Also couples are free to defer child bearing till when they are comfortable.
FamilyRe: Is Der Any Disvantage In Marrying A Lady Dat Is Not A Graduate? by priest2u(m): 8:42pm On Sep 12, 2014
carefreewannabe: There is. If you are intending to be the future president, please do not embarrass the country with a first lady like chai chai chai, diaris God oooo Patience J.
If after secondary school a woman cannot communicate clearly in English language then university will not help her. Please note the difference being educated doesn't translate to a university degree , some secondary school girls are more refined and educated than some so called graduate .

iwakolewa: What's the joy in marrying a graduate, and then you're both unhappy for the rest of your lives sad if it's a non graduate that gives you peace of mind, and a graduate that makes you monitor your BP every two days, what would you rather go for?
you've said it all. I remember when I was searching for a wife I met this girl doing her masters, I have masters degree too. She was giving me so much trouble though she claims to like me. I later got fed up and hook up with a more prettier young undergraduate babe and sincethen my peace has known no bounds . My point as long as I can have peace and love I really don't care if she's a graduate or not.
RomanceIf You Don't Give Her Money Other Men Are More Than Willing , So Why Complain??? by priest2u(op):
A babe I almost dump due to several reason left me and in less than two weeks got engage and later married to a very wealthy man.I was so nice that I was considering taken her to hospital because of the fishy odor that always fills my room whenever we are doing the act.I felt relieved when she left , she is your typical gold digger because she left her previous bf for me. My point is, this babe that has little to offer a man ( she has very poor hygiene and unfaithful) end up getting married to a very wealthy man that bought her an expensive car just few weeks after marriage. So if a woman is faithful to you and you love her you shouldn't think twice before meeting her needs. My two scent.

FamilyRe: Why Don't Some Women Wash Their Husband's Clothes? by priest2u(m): 4:23am On Sep 06, 2014
Do all this women saying they can't wash their husband clothes really love their husbandshuh Even with washing machine , isn't it normal to do all laundry both husbands n yours at the same time ? Without washing machine can't you ask to wash your husband cloths along with yours ? What's wrong with this world , no love anymore people are so selfish even to their spouse . Two shall become one in marriage , your hubby cloths is your cloths and a really wise woman should not not see anything wrong in washing her hubby cloth either with washing machine Or with hands . The washing machine is irrelevant to the question. Few women of wisdom on NL.

One good way to start is to know the qualities of a non-wife material . For example the poster I quoted just display qualities most men don't want in wife smiley

FamilyRe: Nigerian Men In US, Will You Open D Car Door For Your Wife Or Teenage Daughter? by priest2u(op): 1:23am On Aug 28, 2014
Allohrandy: Most Americans don't open door for their wives or girlfriends. It is not a common practice in America. I think the average Nigerian man treats his spouse better than the America
the question is will you do it or not smiley I know some few friends who are doing it judiciously here though their wives are oyibo grin

I know its not our culture but if you live in rome you have behave like the Romans right? most men open car doors for their wives and also for their teenage daughter. Your wife is Nigerian and you both grew up in Nigeria , will it be nice if you both adopt this practice? That is your should never open the car door herself if she is with you or your daughters?

Tundeiab: Guy! He be like say you don dey eye one married woman ba?

My advise is that you should think before you leap.
I met a 22 yr beautiful young lady, didn't know she was newly married. We fell in love and started dating , I asked her about the ring on her finger she said she put it on to scare men. She was so pretty so I believed the lie smiley The relationship ended when through a mutual friend I found that she was married and that her husband is in the same location. My friend attended the wedding. I've heard and seen young men being killed for dating other men's wife hence my question.
RomanceWhy Is Dating A Married Woman So Deadly ? by priest2u(op): 4:40am On Aug 24, 2014
I have always wondered why. Dating a married man is relatively safely for most single ladies, however men who date married women might end up losing their lives. Why is it so ? Lets hear your views.
