2 Nigerians arrested for hacking into Ghana Armed Forces mails

Two Nigerians have been arrested for allegedly attempting to divert $13,978 belonging to, Ghanaian peacekeepers after they had succeeded in hacking into the e-mails of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The suspects, Peter Okechukwu, 32, and Emmanuel Ifedi, 31, were arrested by officials of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service at a branch of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) in Accra where they had gone to cash the money.

According to the Director-General of the CID, Commissioner of Police Mr Prosper Agblor, in November this year the two suspects managed to enter the e-mails of Continental African Trading Limited (CATAL) and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) GHANBATT 76 and intercepted all electronic communications between the two parties.

CATAL, an international organisation, had been supplying home appliances' to Ghanaian peacekeeping troops on various missions at different locations in the world.

Recently, CATAL was contacted, as usual, by the GAF to supply home appliances to UNIFIL GHANBATT 76 peacekeeping troops in Lebanon.

Mr Agblor said there was correspondence concerning the supply of the items between CATAL and the military through the Internet.

Along the line, he said, the e-mails between the GAF and CATAL were hacked into by the two Nigerians, who intercepted all mails from both ends and replied them as if the replies were coming from the rightful receivers of the e-mails.

He said the two suspects, using the identity of CATAL, sent an e-mail to the GAF instructing it to pay $13,978 into a UBA account number 01011651102235 as part payment for the supply of the goods.

Upon receipt of the information, the GAF transferred $13,978 into the account as instructed by the two suspects.

Mr Agblor said CATAL realized that the GAF had suddenly stopped communicating with the company on matters relating to the transfer of the money and so it followed up with a phone call and detected that the GAF had paid $13,978 into an account number supplied by CATAL.

He said it was at that stage that the two organisations realised that someone had hacked into their e-mails and quickly reported the issue to the Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit of the CID.

Mr Agblor said the Business Development Manager of CATAL reported the case to the police and checks at the bank revealed that the money had not yet been cashed by the suspects.

The police quickly mounted surveillance at the bank, awaiting the arrival of the suspects to cash the money.

According to the CID boss, on November 11, 2012, Okechukwu, who happened to be the owner of the said account, was arrested when he turned up at the bank to cash the amount.

Upon interrogation, the police said, Okechukwu admitted to the offence but mentioned Ifedi as the master brain behind the whole deal and led the police to Ifedi's house at Ashaley Botwe, an Accra suburb.

Mr Agblor said investigations were still ongoing, after which the two would be put before court.

Religion / Re: Dominion Air: Bishop David Oyedepo Launches New Airline by prince4lif: 2:07am On Mar 27, 2012
I don't criticize genuine Pastors neither do i encourage anyone to do so. I believe Bishop Oyedepo is an hardworking man of God, a preacher,a writer and publisher, a Pastor of pastors. The Bishop earns more income from the books he writes that are sold all over the world and his audio and video CDs, a lot of people think Pastors only get money from tithes and offerings, no this men are anointed, gifted and creative. They spend their time writing and researching while so many are sleeping and complaining of the challenges of life. Is it easy to be a Pastor? So why criticize their success? A lot of people have been blessed through them, a lot of herbalist receive gifts from their clients after there problems has been solved and they enjoy the proceed, so why do we criticize a man of God if blessed by his congregation.
My only advice to the pentecostal churches is that they should do more charity works and support education just like the Catholics and Anglicans.
Romance / Re: How Do You Deal With A Jealous Fiancee ? by prince4lif: 10:42am On Mar 19, 2012
Well this a very sensitive topic, people talk about dumping a partner as if it's that easy. When you are in love it's difficult to let go but yet you have to try to build the trust and it's very important not to give her any room to suspect anything,if you have been faithfull in the past she will always trust you. But I bet you she's better cos the only reason a woman will check after a man is LOVE, if she has someone else you will be the one begging her to show some care. I have a brother in a relationship with a woman he's not married to but the have a daughter together, but still cheats on him, when he was able to hack her facebook account he nearly faited, even as at now the Lady wouldn't put the picture of herself & the guy as her bbm profile when her man ask her to because of the kind of male friends she keeps, they both live together but the guy travels out of the country but yet he loves her and just want her to change. So if you love your woman look beyond your differences and help her to understand you, often times we men assumes women should understand, you need to do your home work & the same love will help her to understand when you make mistakes, remember you are not perfect!

Please I need some advice for my sister she has been in a brutal relationship with a guy who isn't ready to marry her legally, she has 3 kids for him but yet this guy is not serious with life he beats her, the worst was when she was 8 months pregnant for her last kid, she fainted after serious beating and ended up in the hospital. The last was about 3 months ago when he beat her and pushed her down from his car on the high way, I don't live in Nigeria so I had to arrange with a couple of people and her mum to get her and the kids out of the man's house, he was never married, she got pregnant for him in the name of love and he asked her to move in with him ,he never performed any right on her. So she finally left his place about 3 months ago, and when the kids when on holiday in September he started begging that she should let the kids come to spend the holiday with him and his parents, he has not been paying the kids school fees, he paid the past ones paid by his child mother and we felt perhaps he was getting sober, so my sister allowed her two eldest daughters 7 and 4 to go spend the holiday with their granny at Abeokuta, when the kids were to resume back to school in Lagos, he didn't bring them back to their mother and said he has looked for another school for them at Abeokuta that the kids will now be living with his mother, that he has also gotten an house maid for them their, and he never got an house maid for a mother of three even when she was living with him. Please I just need to know if their is any organization that fights for the rights of victims of domestic violence and women in this kind of situation, my sister is so frustrated and wants her daughters back.

I woke up on the morning of October 1st and reflected on the blessings of Nigerian and why we still suffer this much, we are said to be a great nation, yes we are, our greatness is in us all as a people and the blessings God has bestowed upon our dear nation, but it's unfortunate that the SONS OF PERDITION among us who have re-branded themselves as politicians, came to rule us with the vision of their father the devil, they are thieves just as the bible has said, the thief only come to steal, kill and destroy, but I know by the grace of God it won't be long before the creator of heaven and earth brings judgement on them, the blood and souls of all innocent Nigerians who dies due to neglect or inadequate facilities or because of poverty will definitely hunt them. I am proud to say that Nigerians are naturally hard working and intelligent and this is why we have been able to survive in the hands of our greedy leaders, if we were like the Libyans who wait on the government on everything and don't work but yet receive a social security of about $400 per family every month then we would have resulted into brutal war. Politicians in government are committing more crimes than ordinary citizens. Frustration and poverty has forced so many Nigerians out of their homes and we have a government who doesn't care, I live in Ghana and I can see the difference is clear, I have lived in Europe I see how people are being treated especially when in need and and in times of emergency, this bloody politicians travel abroad everyday and see the difference but can't tell why they will never implement policies that will change the lives of their people, they spend our money as if it's their inheritance, MAY GOD PUNISH EVERY SELF CENTERED AND FRAUDULENT POLITICIAN, their generation will suffer for all the harm they caused our great country and above all they will use all the money they stole from us to treat incurable diseases, CANCER AND STROKE shall be their portion. Even the bible says "Righteousness exalts a nation and sins a reproach to every nation". Oh God of heaven avenge our course and deliver us from blood sucking and greedy politicians, Let the words of the national anthem and oat they swore on assumption of office hunt them and their family. Amen!!!

GOD YOU HAVE ALREADY BLESS NIGERIA, MY PRAYER IS THAT YOU NOW DELIVER NIGERIA!

I BELIEVE IN NIGERIA AND HAVE NEVER WISHED AM FROM ANYWHERE ELSE.

orisirisi, first they took away our freedom of expression, then our freedom of movement - where POLICE go catch you for wandering even at 9.00pm, now it's our freedom of fashion - they now tell us what to wear, at first they harrase our girls for wearing mini-skirts, trousers and sleeveless in this hot weather. this is crazy democracy and absolute continuation of MILITARY RULE.

My advice to the Inspector general of Police - The minimum qualification for Police recruitment should be OND- Ordinary National Diploma, let them pass through even POLY to get the exposure, education and intellectuality to deal with the Public, not a bunch of primary six holders from the north and JSS and SSS certificate holders from the west and east.

I live in Ghana, infact Naija dey embarrase me too much with all the wealth we say we have, Ghana police are neat, more educated, speaks better english and less corrupt.
