I don't know what triggered this thinking in the subject, but surely it's evil in every form. I saw a post on nairaland that got me confused. I learnt that the American spec of the Civic has parts more readily available than the Japanese counterpart. I want to know how true that is before going ahead with the purchase.

I am about to pay for a Nigeria used Honda Civic 2007. The owner said car is in good shape and only issue is the AC compressor. Should I be worried about the AC not working, can it be fixed, and how much will it cost me to fix? Are there other things I need to check in the car or questions I I should ask? This is going to be my first car. I almost paid for a benz C240 recently but had to back out of the deal. How much do you think is good price for a Nigeria used Civic 2007 with over 200k mileage?

Nobody with value for money will buy a Naija used 2004 EOD for even 700k, except it's extremely clean as toks. Even at that it will be difficult when DCs are going around 700k and 800k for locally used.

I keep hearing Almajiri school...do those kids even know what a school is...

heard the headlamp of the FX cost well over 200k. Don't know how true. It's a rugged car but parts are very pricey and scarce..

The Corolla on the other hand may have good fuel economy, but very prone to theft. The AC for that model are very susceptible to failure, and suspension isn't that durable. Road handling ain't great if you are a frequent Traveller.

Just choose your preferred headache and take paracetamol or extra Panadol.

All the Peugeot I have ever owned have always been manual.from 504 to 405 then to the 306,so I can't say anything about the automatic transmission.I like the fact that you said you want to keep the car for long.its quite impressive.if you get a very good Peugeot car,u definitely would enjoy it for as long as u want.

I have never owned a Honda Accord,but I have read about how it served someone on nairaland who is still attached​ to it till date.let me invite Fogman to narrate his wonderful experience about the Honda Accord.

Whenever you seek advice about a car,try weigh opinion from people who have actually owned,maintained and used the car in question and not from people who just heard about the car from beer parlor talks.

They are both good cars.

Peugeot is better with fuel economy.
It gives you a full sedan feeling and still doesn’t consume much fuel.

All the guys that drive the manual have never complained about the car. It can stay for years,

Honda is a very smooth ride but Nigerians can complain even when they have never used the car. I’ve experienced Honda for four years and didn’t change bolt joint.
As far as u have an original Honda bolt joint, the engine is rugged , transmission smooth.

My only but is on fuel economy compared to the Peugeot. That’s all

The difference in fuel consumption between the 406 and DC, is it significant or negligible? I love the interior design of the DC more, however I still feel the 406 manual is more rugged and durable. I don't intend to use and sell off, I want a car that I can keep and still drive after several years and look at and say, this is the car I started with. I fear the DC may not look too good in shape in the long run.

After reviewing your comments in addition to more research. I have decided not to go for either cars. I will be settling for the 2005 C230 Kompressor instead. I do hope I have a good experience with it.

Someone once said he sold his muscle for 850k. I have seen one for 1m on nairaland here but had gear issues. People were even pricing the car for less still.

It seems I have to look at a different direction now. I think the Avalon 2006-2009 will be a better buy now.
