Promises by the security agencies to keep the peace during yesterday’s governorship election in Ondo State failed to materialise in many parts of the state just when it mattered most.
Violence erupted in Idanre, Igbotako, Ilu-Titun, Okitipupa, Ido-Ani and Ifon to mar an election the authorities had touted as a model for future polls in the country.
It was so bad at Okeluse that the result for the area had to be cancelled.
Thugs believed to be working for the Labour Party (LP) went wild in those towns and the riverine areas hijacking ballot boxes and harassing supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and People Democratic Party (PDP).
Two key actors –Mr.Niran Sule, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Mr. Tunde Ojomo, chairman of the Owo Local Government-were arrested by security agents for being in possession of six AK 47 rifles.
They were taken to Akure for interrogation.
Anxiety filled the air last night in Ondo State as residents and stakeholders awaited the result of the election.
Tension was particularly high at the Alagbaka, Akure secretariat of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the campaign offices of the three leading candidates in the poll-Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of the ACN, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of LP and Mr. Olusola Oke of PDP, as results began streaming in from the wards and local government areas.
[color=#006600]Yet to be confirmed reports showed that the ACN led in the North Senatorial District followed by LP and PDP, while LP led in the Central District with ACN second and PDP in the third position.
PDP however, led in the South Senatorial District with ACN coming second and LP a distant third.
All together ACN has reportedly won eight out of the 18 local government areas in the state–four in the north, two in central and two in the south. PDP on the other hand won five and LP five too.
Although, the Central District has the largest number of votes, whatever edge the LP had there may not stand in view of its poor showing in the North and South.
This holds out the possibility of the election being resolved through run-off polls

take dat: And who is to replace ACN for now in those States, Is it PDP? The return of PDP to SW will likely be a case of a camel trying to pass through a needles eye. LP is not grounded yet in those states except it merges with PDP and this will soil LP's reputation. I guess we are still stuck with ACN for now.

If anyone here think that this pdp adoption of Mimiko would boost his vote on Saturday, that person is dreaming and will wake up to utter disgrace on Sunday evening. For those that criticize the system that produced AKEREDOLU, by now you can see reason why the candidature of Agunloye, Saka Lawal etc was dropped in favour of a reliable party man, Akeredolu.
Mimiko's gimmick is to bring back PDP to the SW. This is not news, but a revelation. Ondo voters now know better.

I am yet to understand why is it that it is only nigerian owned airflight company that always run into lots of debt.Air Nigeria bankrupt,arik owning alot of debt.Whereas the foreign operated airflights are doing very well.
Does it mean that airflight industries is not profitable or nigerians lack good management policy or corruption where the nigerian owners just come to the airflight industries to make quick money,embezzle alot and leave the industry bankrupt having stolen enough.Please someone should shed more light.

Worshippers of the World Liberation Ministry located along old Sapele-Benin express road on Tuesday took to their heels during a prophesy programme when a female member delivered a horse.

The horse was however dead by the time Journalists visited the church.

It was gathered that the woman whose identity was not yet known started screaming during the prayer session and began to bleed from the vagina before the horse came out.

The General Overseer of the church, Evangelist Silva Wealth, said he was still amazed at what came out of the woman.

He told Journalists that during prayers a revelation came that there was a woman with an issue and that something was blocking her womb.

Silva said as prayers intensified, the woman started screaming and bleeding started when the object came out.

The cleric said he couldn’t confirm whether the horse was dead or alive because he didn’t go near it.

“I can’t describe the object. We have seen people that vomited several things during our service but not this type of thing. God has been blessing our ministry with prophesies and miracles, “he said.

People rushed to the church to catch a glimpse of the horse when news of the delivery filtered into town.
