This is a grim black and white picture of our country. An American respective. But believe me, we exist in the grey areas of political drama. We'll pull this off once again, like we've always done. Our problems are real and dangerous but the solution is here in Nigeria with Nigerians. God bless Nigeria

in other words the youth will continue to be fools, becoz that is the only reason why Nigeria has existed in the grey areas of all this political dramas as you put it.

Excuse me! Kidding? Mr., Its up to the other neighbouring countries to enact and implement their own laws.

Stop being a kid and stop reasoning like one my brother. That is why we Africans can never progress, becoz we do not value agreement. Now You expect every other  ECOWAS member country to exhibit the same madness becoz Ghana chose to going against what they agreed on. Every Regional organisation hold on to this free trade trade agreement within the member nations. Even the almighty EU, and that is what made them the strongest regional union in the world today with even single, but a stronger currency to make trade easier within the member nation.

So If Ghana equally think they have suddenly become economically stronger than other member nation under ECOWAS, they can withdraw their membership. If they suddenly realised that the free trade agreement of ECOWAS is conflicting with their country's trade laws, they can withdraw from ECOWAS to uphold their policy. You cant willingly be in an organisation and don't obey the agreements of such org. and expect other member to do the same. That is foolishness, Am not complaining whatever is their trade policy toward ECOWAS member nation or Nigeria, but as long it contradicts what they agreed under ECOWAS, they should be kicked out of ECOWAS and all benefits witdrawn from them.

2. Free Trade Area
• All barriers to trade are removed among
members.
• Each member retains its own barriers to
trade with non members.
• There is need for rule of origin to
protect deflection possibilities from nonmembers.
• European Free Trade Area (EFTA) is an
example; NAFTA another example.
• ECOWAS

Africason:

Dude, get off your high horses and reason clearly! Do you think the Ghanaians give a hoot about the ECOWAS treaty? In anyway, this is called protectionism if you don't know. . . They are doing it to every other national regardless of you being an ECOWAS member state or not. I believe they are asking for any individual or group of individuals wanting to do business in Ghana to have like $300,000 capital to qualify.

Folks can pull their resources together and reach that sum quite easily. . .
For you to say Ghana give no hoot abt the Ecowas Treaty is like rulling out the benefits of regional organisations as ECOWAS which is obtained in every part of the world. If Ghana can not respect that agreement, they should be sanctioned from ECOWAS. When that happens, Ghana will then know 'no man is Island'.

I believe they are asking for any individual or group of individuals wanting to do business in Ghana to have like $300,000 capital to qualify.

Was such requirement supposed to include ECOWAS members? I asked you a question which you failed to answer. What happens to the free visas giving to Ghana by all Ecowas memeber states, what happens to Ghanians having shops, in Togo, cotouno, Nigeria etc without restriction? Will they also be required to produce $300,000 before registering such business, or do you think these countries has no minimum requirements for other nationals other ecowas member?
You mean to tell me that a Togolese or Nigerian who want to open a small shop for selling bags must produce $300,000 before such business can be registered, while Ghanaian can do same in other ECOWAS nation without any restriction. Who is fulling who?
Jst that we have a useless governement that does not care for its citizens. if not Nigeria should influnce the sanction of Ghana from ECOWAS, lets see how that goes with them.

Africason:

Very sad indeed, but why is this story being made to be like the Ghanaian authorities are victimisingd the Nigerians? Look, that law was inacted to sometime ago to check all foreign entities and not Nigerians alone!

Its for any biz foreign including that of Liberians, Togolese, Nigerians, Indians and all all things foreign. . . Please lets stop this bull crap as if they are targeting Nigerians businesses alone. . .
My Fren go read the terms and agreement of ECOWAS which Ghana was signatory to and a member, before you come here to spew rubbish. Almost all the country in the world needs visa to Nigeria except ECOWAS member states. How would ECOWAS member nations feel when they grant us free visas to their country and we rule them together under the same visa requirement with EU, American, and Asian nationals?
Ghana nationals are enjoying the free trade agreement in other ECOWAS Member nations, then in return ruling the same member nations together with other foreigner nationals in their new trade policy. Does that make any sense to you? If Ghana is ruling us together with other foreign nationals they should withdraw their membership from Ecowas lets see how they can survive alone within the ECOWAS region.

LoL!! PDP once again has declared "Operation Totality", meaning totality in everything including massive rigging.

koruji:

Look I understand what you are getting at. My point is our priority should not be what one politician is doing to another politician but what any politician is doing to the Nigeria people. Basically most of these governors take allocations and promptly go on a spending spree ABROAD - no US governor does that. All these allegations & they are allegations against GEJ would not matter if nobody stole any money. The scenario you painted if it comes to pass would show whether GEJ is worthy as the next President - it would give people like Buhari an opening in their campaign against GEJ.

So let us see what happens, but meanwhile there is no better defense than "I did not steal money."

Lol this very funny. Please can someone justify the reason why EFCC could be in Riverstate where the indigence are contempted with what their governor is doing, and exempting the nearby state as Abia where even the residence are crying for EFCC to come to their rescue?

Nigeria is the most useless and foolish Country i have seen on earth.
There is a war in Liberia, our stupid government will be fast enough to send 20,000 soldiers to die there, in Ivory Coast, oh!!! jst the next day Nigerian troops has already arrived, Coup in Togo Nigeria will be first to send mediators under ECOWAS , War in Sudan we will be the first to send troops under UN.
Crime against Innocent Nigerian in Liberia, our government is no where to be find, killing of Innocent Nigerians in South Africa, our government keeps silent over it. Injustice against Nigerians within our Ecowas Neighbouring country as Ghana of all people. Nigeria suddenly became less Influential that Ecowas has kept quite over it. What is it called? FOOLISHNESS.

I quite agree with you. But considering that IBB, Atiku and Jonathan are the front runners, my bet is that Jonathan is the best for Nigeria. Give it to the guy, he has got some guts!

How did you come up with the above bold statement. The last time i checked Nigeria was'nt running a one party system. The above 3 people you mentioned are all from the same party that has kept us backward for more than 12 years and in your mind you still believe we should trust another 8years in their hand. Jonathan the last time i check has not openly declare his intention jst like other candidate from other parties, how could you quickly conclude that we have only 3 front runner for the position?

I believe you are a Ghanian, now tell me why after what Rawlings did for Ghana you guys still believe  there is need to vote NDC out after their 8years of rawlings? Tell me why you think you needed to vote out NNP after their 8years.

Are you one of Nneka's agents? Please tell her to pay back the money and end this her rubbish music career, she can't even sing.

But do you really agree that she stole money to start her own business, Iam dissapointed. No one survives starting on a faulty note. I hope all this gist about her stealing is false.

Please can we mind what we say and what we joke about. The criminal Nneka picture was here on the thread and we all know her. I don't see how an adult will be making  jokes with identifying a young innocent girl upcoming artist with a crime.
And for those taking it for sarcasm should not forget that every comment we make here on NL appears on Google. We might think we are having jokes and fun now. What do you think you have achieved with your jokes when a foreigner who wants to know more abt this girl typed in her name, and such comments of her stealing money to start up her music career shows up? How many of you will be there to explain to the person it was a mere joke and being sarcastic?

Reading some post on this thread, many people who did not see the thread or picture of the criminal Nneka is already taking the joke for real. If this girl is your sister or relative i don't think you would enjoy such joking with her identity knowing that she is an upcoming star.

So please lets be careful what we joke abt mostly online.

Politics / Re: ‘government Is Broke And Cannot Fund Inec’ ! by princekevo(m): 6:27am On Sep 02, 2010
The Federal Government is broke and cannot fund ongoing road construction projects across the country, a House of representative member has said. The member, who asked not to be named, also claimed that only N16 billion out of the N87.7 billion required by the Independent National Electoral Commission for voters’ registration has been released to the electoral body.
This startling disclosure was reportedly made by the Minister of Finance, Olusegun Aganga, while meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Works. According to the member of the committee, the minister revealed this after he was summoned to give a briefing on the slow pace of work on major roads that have money allocated for their rehabilitation in the 2010 budget.

Why would there be money to fund INEC when every elected person in the government is busy accumulating enough money to hijack next election?

To some people GEJ should be blamed for Yar Adua's errors. Thats a bit dumb.

Lol!!! this is very funny man, So we can argue and reason that GEJ has the right to context for 2011 in completion of 8years mandate of Yaradua Government, but can not share the blames of the same government he was the number 2 man. Man, I have no problem with Jonathan as an individual, but i have problem with the party and their policies that has cost us a lot, but nothing to show for it. Jonathan was and is part of it and now no 1man of the same government why should he not share part of the blame? I think we are still on NL, as long PDP is concern, be it GEJ or an angel who emerges in 2011, we shall still come back here in the next 4 years arguing about power in Nigeria. Write it down somewhere.

Jst 8years of Bush was enough for Americans to say no to Republicans and their policies that drove their economy into the present mess. Here we are after 11-12years we are still hoping and believing that a Messiah can still come out of PDP. How ridiculous is our thought? If we need any change in that nation then we need to change the way we think.
Politics / Re: Jonathan To Eliminate Power Outage By 2012 by princekevo(m): 8:07pm On Aug 27, 2010
Lol!!! I knew he will not be different from other politicians. What happened to the initial state of emergency declared on power sector? What happened to the initial gara gara of making himself the power minister? I wonder why some Nigerians can still b deceived into believing that any PDP Government can give us steady power even in 2012 , if not their initial way of holding on to power. OBJ spent 8years in office, are we to believe he lacked the capacity to rectify Nigerian power problem? 4 years of yaradua is coming to an end under PDP yet there is less or nothing done to rectify the power problem. Now they are giving us another 2years of hope and their mugus are already buying this.

In the first place who told Jonathan he will be there in 2012?

Nigerian citizens talk about the government not creating jobs, a duty of the citizen, but once they get the money to do so they go abroad.

i was born in america, everything about me is essentially american, but i lived in nigeria and after school plan on living there for the rest of my life. I really don't see that nigerian people's problem is LOL.

The last time i checked you said you live abroad, in USA to be precised. Must every Nigerian be a hypocrite like you?
Nigeria is the best place to live in, i don't argue that, with great employments, no doubt abt that, yet you chose to stay in US where you have access to 24hrs light, good roads, hospitals and transportation.
Don't you see that makes you a hypocrite, Why don't you go back to our paradise?
You were born in America but lived in Nigeria, why did you leave Nigeria in the first place back to America? Why are you still there in the states, why did you chose to study in America instead of studying in our perfect country with a great educational system?

I can see Jonathan is destined for failure jst as his predecessor Yaradua. The same declaration OBJ made and imposed yaradua on us, but at the end God said no to him. He has succeded in pushing Yaradua to his early grave, his next target is GEJ.

Jonathan has allowed himself to be used as another stumbling block to Nigerian Progress by PDP, but the good news is that God pass them all. Associating himself with people like OBJ is jst the beginning of his end, i will see how a lecturer can survive in the mist of deadly politicians like OBJs

This is total bullshit!!! Hypocritical statement as long as the divided-one Nigeria is concern.
Why would some Group of people ask other groups to sweep their past under the carpet so that we can push the broken Nigeria forward as one, while their own past is well preserved in their memory. To the extend that they can even use the past as a political tool against the other at present.

As long as Nigeria have the culture of not addressing their past, being the road map to future we should all hypocritically bury our past so that we can remain one. In as much as i doubt IBB's credibility to move Nigeria forward it is annoying seeing some group of people using their past as a political tool against IBB yet preaching the gospel of forgeting the past and moving ahead in one. It is nothing but HYPOCRISY.
