egift: PDP should first remove the iroko tree on their eyes before pointing fingers to the dust elsewhere.

Truth be told - the problem of Nigeria is PDP (poverty, corruption, insecurity, illiteracy, underdevelopment, bad economy, poor leadership, etc)
wow!!! So Lagos state is nt poor, insecure, corrupt, underdeveloped and also does nt have poor leadership( as shown by the examplery leadership of theifnub).....the truth be told, apc can neva win the presidency!!!!!

ok wise guy, must you put an ethnic coloration to his thread. You yourbas tink making pointless and blindly bias arguments plus the amount of noise that comes with it, makes u argue construtively. Also, lai mohammed is a serial liar. He has said so many lies against the federal govt and nigerians. He lied to nigerians that the SOE was a ploy by GEJ to subdue the opposition. Then later lied to nigerians that the SOE was a failure and not achieving its aim. He has consistently been insulting the office of the president of the federal republic of nigeria only to turn around and say abati is insulting the opposition which even makes him a hypocritical liar. Being a loud mouth makes you no gd critic. Besides an empty vessel makes the loudest noise

Akiika: Abati is unprofessional, an official Govt' spokesperson shouldn't be writing carelessly like that, whatever he says is as though the president said it. But face black for Nigeria, dem no see anything wrong. Of course opposition will throw anything at you...but he still need not ignore decorum.
also opposition spokesperson also should not talk carelessly and learn to criticise constructively and not blindly. What is good for d goose is also good for the gander. If they criticise carelessly, then they shouldn't blame abati for doing the same.
With comments like this from 'supposed' educated peeps, Nigeria is in serious trouble.

For your information, when a person represents an entity(company, state or country) he has a responsibility to perform his duties with decency. There's a reason why customer care agents of telecommunications company would never1 react to a customer rudely irrespective of what the customer says.

No matter what the opposition says, Abati as the spokesman of the presidency should never resort to foul language.
First of all, u cannot equate the presidency with mtn customer care service. Secondly, should abati 'decently' fold his hands while liar mohammed continues to run his mouth like a mad man. Abati has even helped mohammed by bringing him back to order and restored his mental state to normal once more.

ACN to Abati: Please, mind your language

Premium Times - 46 mins agoNEWS

The opposition party accuses presidential spokesman of using crude and undignified language on Jonathan’s critics.
The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has decried the growing propensity of presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, to resort to the use of foul language against critics of the Goodluck Jonathan Administration, saying such crude verbal attacks may boomerang on the presidency, if left unchecked.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said there is a difference between a vicious verbal attack, which Mr. Abati now engages in with relish, and a robust response to critics of the administration, which is what is expected of him.

”Contrary to what Dr. Abati may think, ‘attack’ and ‘criticism’ are not synonymous. An effective presidential spokesman is not one who employs gutter language to respond to critics of his principal, or one who makes more enemies than friends for his boss, but one who is able to convey the activities and achievements of the president to the citizenry with dignified language,” the party said.

”By virtue of what is believed to be his sound education, professional training and exposure, Dr. Abati should be well placed to know how to tell a man to go to hell and the man will still be smiling!

”To be sure, the use of dignified language by a presidential spokesman is important because whatever he says is believed to have emanated from his principal.

“It is therefore unimaginable that President Goodluck Jonathan will resort to the use of the kind of language that has been spewing out of the mouth of his spokesman in recent times. To the best of our knowledge, no presidential spokesman in Nigeria’s history has employed such base language in defence of his principal.”

ACN said using such words as ‘ethically-challenged’, ‘hypocrite’, ‘medieval-era ignoramus’, ‘habitual indolence and brainlessness’, ‘descent into moral abyss’, ‘mental indolence’, ‘bootlicking’, ‘hideous and second-rate characters’, and ‘foolish’ to describe the critics of the President is rude, crude, uncouth, unconscionable and uncalled for, and that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

The ACN said while Mr. Abati is “free to exhibit your bombastic prowess, the rarefied realm of the presidency is not the ideal place for that, because when those who are being assaulted with such words respond in kind, it debases the presidency and ultimately hurts the occupier of the office. In a truly global world, such unrestrained response to critics of the presidency also hurts not just the President but the image of the entire country.

”Even if some critics use words that Dr. Abati finds annoying and insulting or engage in criticism that he deems unfair, it is still incumbent on him to avoid responding in kind, simply because he is not speaking for himself but for an institution. It is therefore not enough defence for him to say that he is responding in kind to critics of his boss.

”May we also remind the presidential spokesman that there will be life after that office, and that he should remember that in an era where the power of the written word has assumed more potency for various reasons, it is important to be more circumspect in tongue-lashing critics of the President.

The opposition party advised and encouraged Mr. Abati “to learn to use facts and figures to counter whatever he considers an unfavourable criticism of his principal, instead of subsuming such under verbal pugilistic.”

Goddex:

Buhahahaha . . . sharing of assets was all he did as governor of North Eastern state?
The same time, for instance, his colleague the Late Brig U. J Esuene of old South-Eastern state now Cross River state & Akwa Ibom, was building one of the biggest stadia in the the country that uptil now host Super Eagles international matches. Esuene also built a brewery of international standard, establish a college of education and a University that has now metamophosed to UNIUYO among others. All of Buhari's legacies as governor was to share assets among states.

Where is Berem and all other Buhari's asss lickers, can you point to a school, Company or any other major project established by Buhari as governor in the old North Eastern state (now Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Borno states)?

Sincere 9gerian: What has Buhari and his CPC been doing in Nasarawa state? Where is the Buhari MAGIC in Nasarawa? Where are the mouth watery goodies?

I went thru Buhari and his CPC 2011 elections campaign mission statement again. It contained the following, among other things:

"Require full disclosure in all media outlets of all government contracts over N100m prior to award and during implementation at regular intervals"

And:

"Seek to amend the Constitutionto require local governments to publish their meeting minutes, service performance data and items of spending over N10M"

As we speak, NONE of this is being implemented in Nasarawa state.

As it turned out, all na wash!

Al makura is barely 2years in office and you expect him to perform miracle or tar all the roads in nassarawa in just 2 years? If pdp had done well in the state, why weren't they voted into power again? using nassarawa state as a justification that Buhari will fail if elected as a president, is utter BS!
so u just realised that 2 yrs is too little a time to judge al makura wen ppl like you expect gej to do all the magic in jst 2 yrshuh Shame on you hypocrites..u people are bad for dis country

If we go by the same analogy, we shouldn't have even "elected" Jonathan since it's a known fact that Yar'adua failed. In short, we shouldn't have "elected" PDP governors in many states where their predecessors performed woefully. huh embarassed embarassed

thelastPope: I have had opportunity to be with many important people in this country and if you think for one minute that they are interested in the well being of Nigeria then the joke is on you. Whether PDP or ACN or CPC or APGA! Most of them just want to enrich themselves. I have never had a problem with people criticizing PDP led government. What annoys me is that many of these people like EL Rufai and Melaye are criminals who are just looking for a route back to power and back to looting. I knew people like Aregbesola before he became governor. He is a crook! I can go on and on. GEJ is not perfect and people like us have never said he is, but what is wrong with your likes is you aint criticizing because you love Nigeria. You are criticizing because you are a bigot! You just want a Yoruba man back in power! Your friends from the North like lacasa just want a hausa/fulani back in power. It has nothing to do with making Nigeria better or good governance. Just partisan politics. You and your kind started criticizing GEJ from day one even when there was no reason to criticize him.

I am a patriotic Nigerian and will always be. So I just want to lay that fact down and we move on with the thread! My major issue for posting this thread is to shame all those who keep coming to NL and insulting Nigeria. Many countries have been in worse situation than this and have come out strong. It is absolutely shameful for Nigerians to come out here daily to insult their country and talk trash without contributing nada to its progress. One funny guy was talking trash some while back, telling us the reason why he hates Nigeria. Telling us how bad Nigeria has been to him. Let him come and tell me now if Nigeria did worse to him than it did to Victor Moses. I will continue to pray for Nigeria and contribute my quota! GEJ must succeed and I will give him all the support to succeed. I believe he is sincere and making a lot of right calls. I do not expect him to make everything right overnight. Nigeria is a 50 year mess and cannot be fixed in 4 years but if he can fix power, roads and rails and add up some other stuff like kick start agriculture, he will have done great!
God bless you my broda. I join u and many other patriotic nigerians to fully support president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan achieve hs transformation agenda
