Man United have been ranked the 128th best club in world football for the year just passed, racking up 115,00 points in the IFFHS* rankings. That puts them below clubs like Aberdeen and David Moyes' Real Sociedad! To arrive at their ranking of the world's best clubs in 2014, between 1 January and 31 December of last year, the IFFHS awarded points for wins and draws (depending on the competition) to football clubs from around the globe. The result put Man United (who had a poor end to the 2013/14 season, missing out on the chance to play in Europe in the latter half of the year) way down in 128th place. To see who features above them, just click the arrow above, right… The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) have ranked the world's 500 best football teams for 2014 and it makes for very interesting reading. *How were the world's best club rankings calculated? Points were awarded for wins and draws, depending on the level of competition, between 1 January 2014 – 31 December 2014. The IFFHS split nations into four levels based on the relative strength of their domestic league, with the strongest leagues at the top (example England/Level 4). A win in a level four league gives a club four points, a draw equates to two points and there are zero points for a loss, regardless of the level. League competitions at the other three levels accrue the following points: Level 3: W = three points, D = 1.5 points Level 2: W = two points, D = 1 point Level 1: W = 1 point, D = 0.5 point In terms of domestic cups, from the quarter final onwards, 12 points are given for a win, six for a draw and zero for a loss. A match won by penalties is considered to be a draw Level 3: W = eight points, D = four points Level 2: W = five points, D = 2.5 points Level 1: W = 1.5 points, D = 0.75 point Continental level competitions are awarded points on this basis… Bonus points are not handed out for winning a competition. You can see the rankings for the world's best clubs in the gallery above, while the placings from 128 to 85 were as follows… The IFFHS rankings from 83 to 32 were…

Mimienudles:He commited sucide after a failed romance...... Moreover his family members were afraid to be with him because of fear of lightning striking them... He committed suicide by shooting himself twice in his stomach....That had to be slow and painful |
Most Lightning Strikes Survived Don't believe the old adage that lightning never strikes the same place twice. Former Park Ranger Roy "Dooms" Sullivan never did. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Sullivan bas the dubious distinction of being the most lightning-struck person ever recorded. Between 1942 and his death in 1983, Roy Sullivan was struck by lightning seven times. The first lightning strike shot through Sullivan's leg and knocked his big toenail off. In 1969, a second strike burned off his eyebrows and knocked him unconscious. Another strike just a year later, left his shoulder seared. In 1972 his hair was set on fire and Roy had to dump a bucket of water over his head to cool off. In 1973, another bolt ripped through his hat and hit him on the head, set his hair on fire again, threw him out of his truck and knocked his left shoe off. A sixth strike in 1976 left him with an injured ankle. The last lightning bolt to hit Roy Sullivan sent him to the hospital with chest and stomach burns in 1977. Sullivan could never offer any explanation for this strange and unwelcome electrical attraction. It is said that he committed suicide following a failed romance. |
MEET ROY SULLIVIAN, THE MAN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING He was avoided by people later in life because of their fear of being hit by lightning, and this saddened him. He once recalled "For instance, I was walking with the Chief Ranger one day when lightning struck way off (in the distance). The Chief said, 'I'll see you later.'" On September 28, 1983, Sullivan died at the age of 71 from self- inflicted gunshot wound in the stomach. Two of his ranger hats are on display at two Guinness World Exhibit Halls in New York City and South Carolin He didn't even shoot himself in the head. He shot himself in the stomach. That's usually a slow, painful way to go. Wimps the world over could learn a from this bad motherfucker. The lightning first hit nearby trees and was deflected into the open window of the truck. The strike knocked Sullivan unconscious and burned off his eyebrows, eyelashes, and most of his hair. The uncontrolled truck kept moving until it stopped near a cliff edge. Jesus h Christ. In 1972, Sullivan was working inside a ranger station in Shenandoah National Park when another strike occurred. It set his hair on fire; he tried to smother the flames with his jacket. He then rushed to the restroom, but couldn't fit under the water tap and so used a wet towel instead. [7] Although he never was a fearful man, after the fourth strike he began to believe that some force was trying to destroy him and he acquired a fear of death. For months, whenever he was caught in a storm while driving his truck, he would pull over and lie down on the front seat until the storm passed. He also began to carry a can of water with him and believed that he would somehow attract lightning even if he stood in a crowd of people. Man dudes common thing seemed to be getting his hair lit on fire. On August 7, 1973, while he was out on patrol in the park, Sullivan saw a storm cloud forming and drove away quickly. But the cloud, he said later, seemed to be following him. When he finally thought he had outrun it, he decided it was safe to leave his truck. Soon after, he was struck by a lightning bolt. Sullivan stated that he actually saw the bolt that hit him. The lightning set his hair on fire, moved down his left arm and left leg and knocked off his shoe. It then crossed over to his right leg just below the knee. Still conscious, Sullivan crawled to his truck and poured the can of water, which he always kept there, over his head. He had started carrying water just to out over his head when he got struck. The next strike, on June 5, 1976, injured his ankle. It was reported that he saw a cloud, thought that it was following him, tried to run away, but was struck anyway. Holy Bleep. Sullivan himself recalled that the first time he was struck by lightning was not in 1942 but much earlier. When he was a child, he was helping his father to cut wheat in a field, when a thunderbolt struck the blade of his scythe without injuring him. But because he could not prove the fact later, he never claimed it. And the kicker, he was really struck 8 times but couldn't prove one of them so he never claimed it. God dammit man, my testosterone is jumping just reading this dudes manly journey through life. |
