Hello, please what is d difference btw bonds and t/bills?
Is the interest rate on bonds better than T/bills?
How can I invest my money in bonds?
Which of the banks can I invest in bonds with?
Pls help with any other useful info.

Another learner smiley .
1) you should take your time to read from page 1.

2)bond and Tbills are different investment vehicle.

3) you can invest In bond through a financial institution.

4) you can get more useful info on this thread from Page 1 to the current page.

My Advice: take your time to read from page 1 so you don't lose your money (few people here understand).

Well this is not a thread for Bond I'll have to create one to help you guys.

Please feelamong and the gurus in the house, can this translate into losing the initial principal. If not, when is the next possible day this can be resolved?
the principal should be safe but the date it will be resolved, that i can't tell.

feelamong:
Dear xxxxxxxx

In the past two days, CBN has been experiencing system downtime with its settlement platforms, precisely RTGS & S4.

Consequently, these hitches have hampered CBN’s operations as deals that are meant to settle via these platforms are all pending. Some of the outcome of this challenge are briefed below:

1. The entire industry cannot determine the opening figures for trading money market instruments & fixed income securities.
2. RTGS operations are also halted as movement of cash amongst Banks is inoperative.
3. Treasury Bills maturities cannot be accessed. This means that Banks are yet to be credited with proceeds upon maturity yesterday.
4. Primary market auction which held two days ago is yet to be processed, and as a result, auction results cannot be advised.

While we crave your forbearance, we implore you to accordingly advise our customers, particularly those whose deals are pending. Also let customers know that this challenge is not peculiar to our Bank but to the entire industry.

However, CBN is working tirelessly to resolve issues and we will inform you of any development.

Many thanks.

THIS IS TO ADDRESS OUR FEARS!!!! AM SURE THE ISSUES WITH THEIR SYSTEM WILL BE RESOLVED SHORTLY!
I CAN SEE SOME PEEPS CHANGING THEIR MIND NOT TO INVEST AGAIN grin . AM ALSO THINKING CBN MAY REDUCE THEIR ACCEPTABLE BID RATE.

When you are searching for job and its not forth coming, then stop searching and start acting on other things. 5k can start a biz. A friend of mine sold his phone and gold necklace to start a very small biz. He did it like his life dependended on it and today he drives 2014 kia cerato. This was less than 4years ago. I dont like people whining. Do the kind of biz that people will see you and even mock you, those kind of biz pay better.

So sell that phone or gold or whatever and do something with the proceeds.

I want to ask one mumu question, please bear with me. If one buys TBs at a certain %, say 13% for 91 days, can d govt thru CBN just up n say, TB interest rates r too high n cut it to say 5%? Or worse still, redominate d naira n ur 5 mill for instance bcome 50k?
lol this is truly a funny question cheesy . OK, I'll answer your question.

1) if you read the thread from page one you will never ask this question.

2) yes the govt can get up and say the rate is now 5% depending on the Economical condition of the state but that will be after the govt pays back your full principal. (naira depreciation and inflation can reduce the value of your money but that is another topic and a long story so no need to go deep into that but if you read from page 1 to this current page you will gain more insight).

3) the only risk here is in the case of a civil war.

4) Read from page one and don't ask this "MUMU" question else hmmmmm. cheesy .

Thanks @Princeuk and @Ureee..
@Princeuk.. This is my fear, that the new government may alter the old rate in which the Tbills where sold and may not want to pay up the completely the money invested in the first instance( maybe claiming corruption, as the reason for his actions). Thanks for your advice, as i have already started reading the thread from page one. Sorry, i'm being skeptical here, but do please reply me based on your experience. Other gurus in the house, please help out.
lol cheesy your money is safe but make sure you go through the thread so as to enable you know when to invest and when to pull out remember its your money and you alone can choose when and where to invest it wink

Goodday masters in the house.. Please, with the imminent change in government, would this period be a better time to buy Tbills, and for the gurus in the house, which bank has the best rate for now?? Thanks... I am newbie on Tbills, just trying to gather information before i invest my money.
1) its safe to invest now. (the issue is that the rates will soon start falling down).

2) you can check out first bank.

3) do well to read more on Nigeria Treasury Bills as a beginner ( this thread can help you with that).

Good afternoon people, please I would really appreciate it if any one here in the house knows much about federal government bonds and how profitable it is. For example let me take the 5 years bond at the rate of 15%, if one invests N10,000,000 on it what would be the ROI after the 5 years and also is the ROI paid upfront or after maturation. Thanks in anticipation of your help.
1) FGN Bonds are debt securities (liabilities) of the Federal Government of Nigeria issued under the authority of DMO and listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The FGN has an obligation to pay the bondholder the principal and agreed interest as they fall due.

2) FGN bonds are debt instruments issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria for an agreed period of time. The investor lends an amount of money to the government and earns interest on the investment until the maturity of the bond when the principal will be returned.

3) I don't think they roll over the interest with the principal and if we are to calculate it then it should be (1,500,000 for the first year and if we multiply that figure by 5 years it should be 7,500.000).

4) Interest received on FGN bonds is not subject to tax so it is tax free.

Always here to help.
