This lady truly is a warrior. It takes bravery to fully live with and accept a deformity, knowing you were not born that way.

She even had to work on her weight. Now that is courage.

Politics / Military Demotes Maj. Gen Adeniyi Over Leaked Video Of Poor Conditions by principi(m): 3:21pm On Dec 01, 2020
A military court in Abuja has convicted Olusegun Adeniyi, a Major General and former theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, and demoted him by  three years.

In March, a video was leaked online of the then theatre commander of the counter insurgency Operation Lafiya Dole briefing a senior officer about the conditions of troops and challenges advancing into the dreaded Alagarno forest area.
The location is where about 100 Nigerian soldiers were killed by ISWAP in a recent ambush.

Adeniyi was subsequently removed as commander of Operation Lafiya Dole and transferred to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

The army, however, claimed Adeniyi’s redeployment was a routine exercise intended to reinvigorate the system.

Ruling on his case on Monday, the military tribunal found Adeniyi guilty of violating military social media guidelines and ordered that he be demoted by at least three years.

Tokunbo Obanla, Adeniyi’s military aide, who was prosecuted alongside the general, was also found guilty and sentenced to 28 days in jail with hard labour.

Obanla, whom Adeniyi said was in possession of his phone at the time of the incident, reportedly admitted to posting the video on social media in error.
Both convictions are subject to confirmation by the military board before it can take effect.
Adeniyi’s lawyers said they would appeal the tribunal judgement before higher authorities.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What Is Your Most Embarassing Moment While Job Hunting. by principi(m): 7:00pm On Aug 13, 2020
That was in 2017. I had written my finals the previous year so I needed to get my hands busy.

I heard there was an opening at a hotel in Calabar. I hadn't taken into consideration the nature of the job.
My people, I picked up myself, took my bath and was dressed for the interview. Wearing good clothes was a serious challenge then honestly. I didn't know that one is supposed to dress smart. I just wore my faded trouser and an old shoe.

I was the 2nd person on the list. The look the interviewer gave me was one of consternation. I did impressed (I believe)in the oral interview. I was then asked to bring a wine bottle from the cellar and open. Na there e happen o.

I never knew how to open wine nor how to hold a drinking cup prior to that time. The man just looked at me and said "This job isn't for you". You'll get something that suits you.

Even me sef I knew I wasn't prepared enough for the job. I sha left feeling embarrassed that I couldn't open wine with a wine opener. The man showed me how to use the opener afterwards.

Another embarrassing experience was the day I went for an interview as a teacher. I love teaching. I entered a taxi that made a big tear on my trouser. My people, I had to go like that. it was an army school and they keep to time a lot.

I couldn't tuck in my shirt because the tear happened behind. I went there smiling. I was asked why I didn't tuck in. I told them and even showed them the tear.

They laughed and asked that I continue. I answered the practical (demonstration) and written examination well.

I was called about 1 week later to work at NAOWA Calabar. I worked there till I left for service in 2018.

That's my true life tale.

Family / Re: At 23 Years Old, I Have No Idea What I Am Doing With My Life by principi(m): 7:55pm On Aug 06, 2020
YoungandDepress:
My story is quite a sad and long one.
I wish I could write it all out. My life has been a terrible mess.
Where did it go wrong for me, I have no idea.

I am writing with so much emotion, my heart is full and heavy.
Life is bitter.

I am a 23 years old guy.
My life all started to go in the negative direction when I gained admission at age 16.
A 16 years old boy in the university, so much freedom and exposure.
I messed up my life, I became addicted to bet9ja virtual gambling I lost focus, Gambling killed me, I started failing exams, at the end I dropped out without my parents Knowing, but the truth came out when I was supposed to graduate, I could not hide it anymore. I told them the truth, my parents forgave me like the prodigal son.

They still believed in me especially my mom, she keeps reminding me of how intelligent I used to be.

Well I'm not here to talk about my past life but here to talk about how it is still affecting me today.

Ever since I started university all over again, I have been miserable and frustrated. Nothing has been working in my favour. I'm currently now in 200level hoping to graduate before 25.
All my mates I started with have done their NYSC.

I'm still stuck in the same stage.
I have no idea what I am doing with my life. I'm young, broke and depressed. I get irritated over little things. I feel disgust at how I uselessed my youthful life. How gambling destroyed me.

By the grace of whichever god exists, I am no longer addicted to gambling. I have quit the addiction for almost a year now but nothing changed, I still feel miserable. I hate having people around me even my family members including my mom.

I have no true friends. Nobody checks on me, nobody calls me.

At this age, I can't boast of having 500 naira in my account.
I'm broke and miserable.

I have started hating God and question my belief in God. I hate Sunday's. I hate hearing about God, I don't blame God for my troubles but I'm angry at the fact that despite my parents being dedicated Christians, things are not working well in my family.
My elder ones are graduates, but no solid job yet.

Only my eldest brother who is doing quite well now and I thank God for his life but we don't talk. I can't remember the last time I called him on phone. They don't hate me, I hate myself.
I have disappointed them a lot.

I just lost the last #1000 I had in my life today and I cried. The money fell out my pocket when I went to get something.

At 23 years, I have no idea what I will do with my future.
I still live with my parents and I have never rented an apartment of my own even in school.

What is wrong with me, why am I miserable?

I have no good clothes. My clothes are all worn out.
I have nothing doing, i live off my parents.

Since schools were shut down, I have been at home doing nothing.
Completely broke, damaged and miserable.

Can my life be any better. What do I do. I am depressed.
I keep asking myself these questions but there
Seem to be no answer.

Politics / How Parents Are Coping With Kids During The Lock Down by principi(m): 5:01pm On Mar 30, 2020
Families around the world are quarantined because of the Covid-19 pandemic and are now facing the prospect of spending months at home with one another.

But it seems some parents are finding it difficult to entertain their children while in lockdown - and have taken to the internet to share hilarious snaps showing how their little ones are wreaking havoc.

Parents in the US and the UK, among other countries, revealed how their children have gotten themselves covered in mud, paint and toothpaste while left to their own devices.

In a viral gallery collated by Bored Panda, one photograph shows how children used precious toilet roll as a bath time toy and left them soaking in the tub.

Nairaland / General / Volunteers Needed To Sleep On A Bed For 5- 60 Days by principi(m): 6:49pm On Feb 19, 2020
The European Space Agency will pay volunteers £12,500 to lie down in bed for two months to test the effects of space travel on the human body.
The study simulates aspects of spaceflight by placing volunteers in bed for long periods of time with their dropped to a six degree angle. It involves two groups of people staying in bed for 60 days, and will be carried out by two different teams of researchers working in France and Slovenia.

It's not just lying down though, one shoulder has to touch the bed at all times - even when eating, going to the toilet and washing throughout the two months.

Bro I finished with a 2:2 in 2016 in UNICAL. I got a job in an army school still waiting for Service. I left for Service in 2018 and I returned in July 2019. I got a job at a bank the following month. I resigned from the job last December to work at a better company. I had no body but God to put in a word for me in all these places.
It all depends on God's Grace and your ability to deliver.
Just have a positive and winning mindset. Even when you don't win, you will learn. I will be 25 by June this year.
