Maiduguri-based billionaire Mohammed Indimi has bagged a honorary doctor of science degree at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Igbere TV reports.

Mr Indimi, who is the founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), a privately-held oil exploration and production company, was honoured at the varsity’s ongoing convocation ceremony.

Indimi is an in-law of President Muhammadu Buhari. His son Ahmed Indimi is married to Buhari’s daughter Zahra.

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has debunked claims that his new movie Oko Iyabo undermines the girl child, Igbere TV reports.

In the movie, Yomi depicts a real-life case involving a fellow actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha who is facing charges for allegedly molesting a minor.

Critics have said the movie promotes rape, underage molestation and minors having sexual relationship with adults. Some viewers have said Yomi also presented his female colleague Iyabo Ojo, who has spoken publicly against him and Baba Ijesha over the alleged molestation, as a prostitute in the movie.

However, Yomi posted a video to Instagram on Tuesday night, saying the allegations were false.

”God sees my conscience. No part of my movie Oko Iyabo undermines the girl child. So don’t let them play anything into your head,” he said.

I Can’t Frustrate Iyabo Ojo, Nkechi Blessing Out of Movie Industry – Jide Kosoko (Video)

Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has addressed claims that actress Iyabo Ojo was chided by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) for fighting for the rights of a minor allegedly defiled by actor Omiyinka Olanrewaju aka Baba Ijesha, Igbere TV reports.

The 67-year-old spoke in a video uploaded to his Instagram page on Thursday, July 1 which he simply captioned ‘CLARIFICATION’. He also tagged members of the board of trustees of TAMPAN to the post.

“My attention has been drawn to the various insinuations that trailed the press conference of BOT of TAMPAN which held on Saturday, June 26 and I want to make a clarification, the meeting was not about supporting Baba Ijesha. I personally condemn any act of rape, I only pleaded that the law should be allowed to take its cause.

“Neither was the conference against Iyabo Ojo’s stand fighting for the minor, what we are saying is that Iyabo Ojo should desist from making derogatory remarks about TAMPAN and the Yoruba movie industry, you cannot because of one person condemn the entire industry. Jide dissociated TAMPAN from utterances made by actor Olofa Ina at Baba Ijesha’s bail hearing. He said he believes Olofa Ina spoke from a place of emotional pain and that his remark does not reflect the position of TAMPAN. Olofa claimed that sleeping with people in their industry was a normal thing.

Jide then spoke on his outburst at actress Nkechi Blessing and how he said he would work to frustrate her out of the industry. According to the film star, he has no power to do such because he is not God.

Speaking further, Jide said it was an attempt to soften both actresses whom he considered his children in the industry. He said the industry contributed to the growth of the actresses and it would make no sense to destroy them.

Christian dramatist Mike Bamiloye has waded into the issue between singer Tope Alabi and her younger colleague Adeyinka Alaseyori, Igbere TV reports.

The duo has been in the news since Saturday, June 12 following Tope’s public criticism of Adeyinka’s song ‘Oniduro Mi’ which means ‘My Guarantor’. Tope said the song belittles God’s capabilities.

Tope was accused by some social media users of being jealous of Adeyinka. She later apologised, saying she acknowledged her mistake was to have “externalised a personal message in public,” adding, “I’m awfully sorry for doing that.”

Tope’s apology came after Adeyinka asked the public to let the issue die, stating that the former is like a ‘mother’ to her.

Temiloluwa Adeboye, widow of the late Pastor Dare Adeboye son of the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Wednesday clocked a year older, Igbere TV reports.

Temi, as she is fondly called by members of the church, had three daughters with her husband before his death on May 4.

Her brother-in-law Leke Adeboye, who is also the last son of the RCCG leader Pastor Enoch Adeboye, celebrated her in a post to Instagram.

At the Evening of Worship and Tribute held at the RCCG, House of Favour, Redemption Camp on May 9, Temi said her husband was not afraid of death, and that she was sure he was in heaven.

She also said her husband told her before his death that if he died, he knew he was fulfilled because he had done what God asked him to do.

“He said if I die today, I know I am fulfilled, I have done what the Lord has asked me to do, he was not afraid of death,” she said. “He was not afraid. Odumakin died on April 2 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Covid isolation centre.

Okei-Odumakin had in a statement on Monday said her late husband would be buried on April 24.

She also said the funeral rites would span across three days – starting from Thursday, April 22 through Friday 23 and Saturday 24, 2021.

Senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi on Sunday celebrated his wife Adenike on her 54th birthday, Igbere TV reports.

“Happy birthday, Adenike, my sweetheart. You are one in a quintillion. I join with many to thank God for you today,” Adeyemi tweeted.

“You are a special gift indeed. I pray for God to protect, bless, lift, and empower you more. Have an amazing day. I love you dearly.”

Kogi State Deputy Governor Edward Onoja has clashed with publisher and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore over the former’s daughter, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Onoja had posted pictures to Twitter on Friday from his daughter’s matriculation ceremony into Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja.

“Congratulations Oma Daddy on your matriculation. God grant you speed and excellence,” the deputy governor captioned his post.

On Saturday, Mr Sowore who is critical of the All Progressives Congress which is governing Kogi, congratulated Onoja’s daughter with sarcasm.

Onoja, who was picked as deputy to Governor Yahaya Bello in 2019 following the impeachment of Simon Achuba, said:

“Dear Sowore, I thought families, especially, the children are out of bounds in political brickbats? Abi, your school of thoughtlessness does not teach sense and sensibility?”

He added: “I pray you are man enough to hustle with your mates, working to assume leadership of the Nation by paying your dues, and not trying to jump in through the window like a palliative thief.
