Politics / “People On The Internet Live On Borrowed Robs” - Dolapo Osinbajo by Priscy01(f): 8:24am
Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President, has appealed to Nigerian youths to desist from copying the lifestyle of people on the Internet as it is a "mere illusion.”

She gave the advice on Saturday, September 14th during a Town Hall Meeting with Benue Youth held at the New Banquet Hall, Benue Government House, Makurdi.

According to her, most internet users live on borrowed robes to impress their fans, they are living illusionary lifestyles that are not in conformity with reality.

“The people on the Internet do not even look like themselves when you see them, they live on borrowed robs. Internet is just an illusion. It is a cartoon. This generation has everything to be happy; during our youthful days, we had no phones, no internet, yet we were happy and have produced great Nigerians for you today.

“You need to be responsible else your generation will end up with pilots, medical doctors, nurses, engineers, bankers, security personnel etc that may be all drug addicts, ” she advised.

She said a Nigerian child needed to be priceless, top class and should not be seen as a cheap product that can be purchased with as little as recharge card and further appealed to youth using internet to be cautions of their activities on the net as responsible companies at the moment, investigate applicants’ records including those on internet before hiring.

“A Nigerian prince and princess should have a good background, they should not be bought by a mere recharge card. The child that has made himself or herself Unclad today on the internet cannot be employed in any responsible company in Nigeria tomorrow, because they will check their internet records before employing now.

“Nigeria is waiting for you; the things you do today determine your tomorrow, don’t eat your tomorrow today. Everyone is waiting for you, everyone is praying for you, ” she cautioned.

Celebrities / Xenophobia: “10 South Africans Dead In Last Two Weeks, Zero Nigerians” - AKA by Priscy01(f): 8:24pm On Sep 11
South African rapper, AKA is back with his 'insensitive' comments on twitter regarding the recent Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that this time, he says, '10 South Africans dead in last two weeks violence. Zero Nigerians. Twitter made you turn on your own country'.

See the rest of his Tweets below;

“10 South Africans dead in last two weeks violence ... zero Nigerians. Twitter made you turn on your own country. Sies.

We condemn any violence in our country, especially to our fellow African brothers and sisters. However, we must be careful with social media. Offically: 12 people have been killed in the recent Xenophobic attacks. 10 of them South African. 2 foreign nationals.

Even South African celebrities were duped into thinking we were mass murdering foreigners. I wonder if they will now turn around and send condolences for their own dead countrymen and women.

How’s about we put all this nonsense behind us and come together as AFRICANS once and for all huh? ❤️

Now that we know it’s mostly South Africans who died in the past two weeks violence ... it’s almost like it’s okay. We have a disgusting problem with our own self confidence and with violence. What a mess.”

South African authorities say that no less than 90 persons have been arrested in connection with the xenophobic attacks on foreigners, especially Nigerians in the country.

In a statement on Tuesday by the South African Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), the government denounced the widespread violence and crime as a way of addressing grievances, Igbere TV reports.

It said: “Government calls for calm and restraint in certain parts of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, as community members raise their concerns and grievances about various issues affecting them.

The government implored its citizens to “remain vigilant against fake news that are being peddled through the social media platforms to fuel tensions within the respective communities.”

Politics / I Challenge Anyone To Expose Me – Yari by Priscy01(f): 10:51am On Sep 02

Yari said this on Sunday at his home in Talata Mafara when he received leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Igbere TV reports.

He said: “I challenge anyone who says I personalised government property or funds within and outside the country while as governor to come forward and expose me.”

The former governor and two other firms linked to him are being accused by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) of receiving various funds belonging to the Zamfara State Government through their accounts with two commercial banks.

Yari, however, said: “As a governor, my business was to spend money which is what I did, but that was in line with the development of the state and for the benefit of the good people of the state.

“We as true believers know that any action that comes for or against us is from Allah and those who think they can neutralise, break or bring us down cannot succeed.

“When we first won elections in 2011, we had no government at either federal, state or local government levels and we consolidated this with our second term in office, so l know that hope cannot be lost now that we have government at the centre, at the local government and at the wards levels.”

Yari returned to the state on Saturday after performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Politics / “Withdraw Your Threat On IPOB,” – Fani-Kayode To Junaid Mohammed by Priscy01(f): 3:36pm On Aug 28
Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has urged a second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, to withdraw his threat on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Mohammed had threatened that IPOB members would pay with their blood if they attempt to attack President Muhammadu Buhari in Japan.

“IPOB will pay with their blood if they attempt an attack on Buhari,” he said.

The group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had on Saturday called on Biafrans to ‘arrest’ and ‘disgrace’ Buhari when he arrives Japan for the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama from August 28 to 30.

In several tweets on Wednesday, Mr Fani-Kayode said Mohammed’s threat shows that Nigeria is on the “brink of a terrible conflagration which could be ignited by just one tiny spark.”

He said: “I have always had immense respect for Mohammed because he has been consistent in his criticisms of Buhari but let it be clearly understood that an attack on the Igbo will be regarded as an attack on the south. This is not 1966 and things are very different today.

“Any attempt to shed the blood of any southerner, for ANY reason, as a consequence of ANY plot or grand northern design will have catastrophic consequences.

“We can agree to disagree on issues and we may not even like one another but we should rule out threats of murder, mass murder, ethnic cleansing and genocide in all our discussions and debates and we should renounce and condemn them.”

The former minister added: “I urge Junaid Mohammed to withdraw his statement and to join the rest of us in renouncing violence and bloodshed.”

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has banned officials of the state and other participants from speaking English Language at cultural and traditional functions.

Igbere TV reports that Fayemi instituted this on Monday at the first Ekiti State Arts and Culture Stakeholders’ Forum with the theme: “Arts and Culture for Economic Prosperity.”

Fayemi said it was important to take this step in order to promote arts and culture in Ekiti and reignite communication through Yoruba and Ekiti dialect.

The governor was represented at the event by the Head of Service, Deji Ajayi.

“From today henceforth, the government has banned the speaking of English in any cultural programme. Whoever that will participate in any traditional programme must speak Yoruba or our dialect,” he said.

Fayemi said the state would hold its Festival of Arts and Culture in December 2019, as part of plans to boost the state’s economy.

He said: “In the primary school teachers’ recruitment exercise we advertised recently, we wanted to employ 1,100 teachers and over 19,000 had applied on our website. This shows that government must develop the skills and capacities of our youths to be able to be on their own.

“We are going to organise Ekiti State Festival of Arts and Culture in December this year to enhance our capacities in crafts, dancing, weaving and other vocational areas of arts.

“We should not forget to teach our children those values that will make Ekiti to remember their heritage and sustain our culture as a people.”
