Thanks oga Prodeegee. It's a family of five. 3 adults and 2 boys (age 5+ and 3). I get 4 days on the average weekly while my younger brother fill the void when I'm unavailable.

The house is fully fenced with gates always shut meaning guests must be physically accessed inside and no tenant.


@Magpies & Chucky234 & Sweetpet thanks u guys rock. However, won't a gsd and rott be at loggerhead and supremacy tussle over territory and food? I've narrowed my choice but more suggestions are highly welcomed.

Only one way to stop a dog fight...
You need two people...
Each of you slowly move to the back of each dog...
Grab the hind legs of each dog, lift and and walk back rapidly...
the dog will be trying to bite you and will lose balance with each attempt..
Do not let go of any of the dog until one of them is safely behind a gate,door or tied down....
That's the only way and you need 2 strong hands..

The best way to stop petty a dog fight is to pour water on them and seperate immediately the feel the reflex from the water.

I have a question to ask sir, tho I add titus fish too my dogs food is it advisable to catfish intestine and gills to the meal also cos I can get it in large quantity in my area?

its just painful that all the folks forming veterinary this or that or whateva...none of them ever thought of improving our breeds of dogs.

in case you havent noticed..
1. our local dogs are never vacinated yet they survive all diseases that kill these so called better breeds.
2. their health is fantastic
3. they eat anything...rotten dead animals and others
4. they even hunt animals...see the hunters dogs
5. they serve as rescue dogs in the villages..
6. they are loyal to death.
7. they are cool with family..kids et all....nice guard dogs
8. just like huskies..they survive the harsh conditions of naija...poor diet..no care and yet they are balling
9. they are very prolific ...can whelp up to 11 puppies.

r u kidding...most of these local dogs even survive snake bites....floods...serious physical injuries

if i have my way....most of our local dogs should be crossed with mastiffs of close traits and features.

imagine a cross btw our local breed and dogs like south african boerboels...carne corso...bull mastiffs..


i will love to have good dogs with size...temperaments and character like boerboels coupled with fantastic and diseases resilient health of our local breeds.

Salt isnt just for tasting,provides minerals. Ever noticed a dog eating soil? That dog needs more minerals and salt is just a cheap source of it. Salt sound safer dan maggi

"mongrel" is not a breed name rather its a category of dogs that are products of several crossbreeding and nolonger have tracable origins. they don't have a named breed. they are then refered to as mongrel / mutts or crossbreeds.
All local dogs are mongrels /mutt but that isnt their breed name

Ur feeding plan isnt bad but u can stop d Maggi and u can add just a pinch of salt to the rice. Rice is good cos it digests well. And when d food get cold u can mix it with pre-warmed rice but won't advise it to b mixed with soaked dry feed. And why soaking it? How old is the dog

Seen it happen to a friend's Samoyed and the puppies were not even strong enough to suck the mother breast milk..they all died within a week.

i remember when i had a visitor who felt it is ok to feed my dog with the fish bone.
next thing i saw was Rayance running up and down shouting "auuu auuuu", after recovering, she wud go back to it and repeat the process.

Dryfood mixed with canned, fish do a lot of magic too, also consider animal organs... Would have advised raw but for a newbie, you'll miss it somewhere...

Whatever food u make up ur mind on, always remember, what ur dogs look like tells a lot about the owner... Simple logic

I don't think it's crap. If I did, i wouldn't have paused to make a comment. Would've simply scrolled on to other topics. If you are patient enough to read and understand, you will notice where I wished you happy sales in all honesty.

On the contrary sir, I own and keep two wonderful dogs - a lhasa and rott/gsd mix. I once kept an osprey for two weeks and released it after the Lekki Conservation guys didn't show interest in taking it off my hands.

A jackal?? For sale?? Goodness! What exactly is one meant to do with this? Domesticate it and keep as a pet? Kill it for food? What exactly?

The other day it was killing a python around Allen Ikeja. Last week, it was Petplanet offering an eagle for sale on Instagram. Today an adolescent jackal and pup are up for sale!

We will make the quick buck now but generations coming will suffer for it.
