Of a fact, puppies need to eliminate, but the only thing they know is "if I need to do it, I’ll do it". Same applies to other activities they partake in such as eating, sleeping, and exploring. The first responsibility of a dog owner is to set the rules and regulations for the dog to live by. You won’t blame a dog for eliminating on the sofa if you haven't set rules on when and where is appropriate to eliminate. Steps to potty-training your puppy faster Feed your pet regularly: Regular and timely feeding is much important to potty train your puppy. Every puppy is different. Some eliminate immediately after feeding and some, minutes after or hours. (Be sure to have a specific timing for feeding your puppy) One thing is important though, Do not free-feed your puppy. This is for two reasons, you puppy's elimination will be more at random and secondly, she will not necessarily see you as her food provider. Confinement: A puppy needs to be confined as much as possible. She must have a reason for leaving her crate. Part of the rules you set. Being the "Leader of the Pack." Confinement can be in form of a cage of a crate, not too big so the puppy doesn’t eliminate on the other end and not too small either. Naturally, most dogs don’t like to eliminate where they sleep. However, there is a maximum time you can confine a dog, depending on the age. 2 months old = 2 hours of confinement without a potty break 3 months old = 3 hours of confinement without a potty break 4 months old = 4 hours of confinement without a potty break etc. - up to about 6 - 8 months of age. Training and timing When you have to let the dog out of her crate use a leash and take her to the designated area for elimination. the puppy only earns her freedom after proper elimination. Use words like “outside” when taking your dog outside. This will help train your dog faster as she associates freedom with elimination in the designated area. Using words in training is also helpful. this is done by using the words exactly when your puppy is doing her business. for example, if she is urinating, you can use the words "go potty" and if she's defecating "go poop". you can use your own words but make sure you praise her everytime she eliminates in the right place. puppies need to earn their freedom only by eliminating aproprately. the free time must be well supervised. NOTICE THE SIGNS! if she's uncomfortable, looking anxious, turning around, squating. these and more are signs you puppy wants to eliminate. the ultimate goal is to avoid mistakes by all means. Anytime there is a change in activity, such as waking, after eating, after playing, your puppy must be taken outside. Praise Your puppy deserves a lot of praises after eliminating in designated areas. This serves as a reward for being a good dog. Rubbing her nose, rubbing her head are ways you can praise your dog and using words like “good dog” “that’s nice”. You have to pick the words you’ll use constantly so your puppy gets associated with the word. Accidents All is not lost if your puppy eliminates indoors. use words like "angh angh" "no" "outside" then take the dog outside to finish her business. give alot of praise after she finishes outside. You have to catch your puppy in the act to use this corrective training method. Clean the areas where she eliminated indoors and spray with a perfumes to avoid the puppy going bac there to eliminate. What are Ticks? Ticks are tiny insects that attach themselves to the skin of an infected animal(dog, cat, sheep, deer, etc) and feed on their blood. Can ticks kill my dog? Lets take a look at this. How Ticks Get Infected Ticks attach themselves to an infected animal and feeds on their blood. The parasite in the red blood cells of the infected animal then enters the tick. The tick then drops off and lays egg, passing the infection to the unborn ticks. The newly born tick then finds another host and passes this infection. Effects on Ticks on Dogs Ticks cause a range of infections in dogs. For dogs, Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever are the most serious illnesses. Symptoms of a Tick Bite might not show up until after a week. Symptoms to look out for 1. Shivering and Trembling; Depending on the severity of the infection. 2. Pet might refuse food and act lazy 3. Discoloration of urine; Urine might be darker, due to the red blood cells being destroyed. 4. Rise in temperature; temperature might ride to 104°F or 40°C. 5. Pale gums 6. Yellow skin and eyes. If any of these symptoms are noticed in your pet, please contact your vet. "I didn't have time to go get a snack," she said, "so I grabbed a bag of treats off the counter, and I was like, wow, you know, these read better than normal people treats. I think if we can get the awareness out of reading the ingredients, and really understanding what is in the pet food, that that will eventually carry over. If you're feeding your pet healthy, maybe you'll start reading the ingredients of your own foods, and maybe you can start eating healthy too." "My feet aren't swelling as much as they usually do after I've been on a 10 hour day," Dorothy explains. "I have lost 2.5 pounds, which i'm not going to complain about that, but I'm not doing this to promote dog food, or to loose weight...
