VillageBoi: @Prof, yes you are right. It seems anything at all Nigerian falls under the brand name 'Nollywood' - that really is the current true status.
Anything at all Nigerian falls under the brand name 'Nollywood' - let the status remain that way.

TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Movie Licensed Distributors by prof800(m): 4:28pm On Dec 31, 2013
speedyboi: No oo. You are responsible for marketing and publicity!

What silverbird does on their tv station is not marketing. They only advertise the movies showing in their cinemas at the moment. It doesn't matter whether they are the distributor of the film or not.
Ooooookay.
TV/MoviesRe: Group Moves To Rename Nollywood As Naiwood by prof800(m): 2:34pm On Dec 31, 2013
speedy just opened my eyes to a few things.
Thanks it seems clearer a bit now.

@Topic: My advice to ANTP is that they should accept the name nollywood wholeheartedly and forget about renaming BS.
At least TK himself was once quoted about 8 years ago to have said "...I am (was) not part of nollywood,...". But today he is among the forefront promoters of the 'nollywood brand'. He was even reported to have said "...nollywood is a brand name that has come to stay..."
This means he has accepted the idea.
Me thinks kannywood, yoruwood, niwood, or nai-whateverwood should just come together and lets have one nollywood. Working together for the best.

TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian Movie Licensed Distributors by prof800(m): 8:27am On Dec 31, 2013
speedyboi: If you are looking for distributors for your 'Film' for theatrical release; Blue pictures and Silverbird come to mind. And Talking Drum Entertainment for International Release.

For DVD release (For a 'film'); Nollywood Distributions comes to mind.

For Online Releases; Doboxtv, Distrify, OHBox and even Irokotv comes to mind. Even Amazon for United states Audience

Just note that; your movie must be really worth it for these platforms (especially the theatrical distributors) to strike a deal with you.

.
but one ignorant kwenshun i wanto ask...
Is it these companies that are responsible for marketing and publicity.?
I know silverbird does marketing but i don't know if it is to promote its own cinema or for just the film.

both question and answer still look valid to me..considering our nigeria film industry of today is gradually ebbing into a new cinema age.>
HealthRe: Vaccination Or Immunization Of The New Born by prof800(m): 8:13am On Dec 31, 2013
Originalsly: Really?...be careful of what vaccines your child is given or your child may end up being autistic or worse. Vaccines is now a money making business....vaccine for every little thing and for things in the future...and vaccines that are experimental. Be wary of vaccines.
so many vaccines these days, 'pentavalent' bla bla bla...I even heard of one HIV which scared me until I learnt it stood for Human Influenza Virus...so we now vaccinate against influenza?
Interesting!

VillageBoi: Hmmmm very, very difficult question and a question I hardly ever answer 'directly'. Normally I would have to find out what sort of filming the person wants to do and much more - DSLRs are not that easy to use 'well'. But I already know you know quite a bit so...

Straight up I can say of the 3 choices above you can immediately remove the 7D... One of my DSLRs is a 7D - I love it to bits BUT they can/do overheat in Naija and it's also the oldest of the 3 mentioned. Rumour is there should be a 7D mark II soon'ish'.

DSLRs only really work with 'rigging'... so consider that you'll be spending a helluva lot more than just a DSLR. Think of a shoulder mount, microphones and audio recorder like a Zoom H4n, Tascam or Juicedlink. 15mm rails, follow focus and so on.

Back to the cams mentioned. If I were buying TODAY for 'video' I would go for the 70D with 'stm' lenses simply because it's the ONLY Canon DSLR that has 'useable' autofocus during video mode. In general DSLRs are more suited to 'narrative' work and much harder to use for documentary stuff... the whale go don jump out of water, swallow fisherman and reach bottom of ocean and born pikin before you get 'critical' focus and exposure on one of these things hahaha.

Of the bunch the 70D makes more sense. BUT everything will be a 1.6 crop compared to a full frame camera like the 5D - that doesn't really bother anyone as the cropped sensor cams are in 'reality' much closer to the exact size if you were shooting on 35mm film. You will have to spend money on much wider lenses - the absolutely brilliant Tokina 11-16mm does just fine on a crop sensor wink
Okay from what I can deduce (not like i know anythang about cameras) VillageBoi says YOU should buy us a canon 70D!
