ABOUT TOTALCHILD CLUB

TotalChild Club for Kids and Teens is a not for profit children club established with the main objective of assisting in raising up children and teenagers that are complete (well brought up) physically, socially, morally, intellectually and spiritually. We create opportunities for children and young people to develop the functional and life skills needed to improve their life chances, eradicate poverty and break social inability.

TotalChild Club programmes cater not only for the child’s social needs but physical, emotional, educational, spiritual and cultural needs as well. We work with parents, teacherss and care givers to help raise godly, well behaved and well mannered children and teenagers. Our clubs are established in schools, orphanages and in the neighbourhood. Our programmes include:

Sometimes it baffles me how people will just poke their nose into other people’s business without minding their own business. They want to know everything about you. Why you are doing the type of job or business you do. Why you are still trekking instead of having your own car. Why you are still not married while others are married. Why you have been married for years and still do not have a child. Why your child is attending government school instead of private school. Why this, why that. They are expert in knowing everything and having solution to other people’s problem meanwhile they have not solved their own problem. They are trying to fix another man’s roof while their own roof is leaking. They want to remove the mote in other people’s eyes meanwhile they have beam in their own eye.

Someone rightly said, “minding your business is a full time job. Stay employed!” Stop making other people’s life your business. You will just die before your time. It is their life, their choices, their mistakes, their lessons and not your business. Don’t worry about what another person is doing. Worry about why you’re worried about what he is doing. When you mind your business, you life becomes less stressful without unnecessary drama.

Be too busy working on your own grass to notice if another person’s own is greener. Let people do what they need to do to make them happy. Mind your own business and do what you need to do to make you happy. Don’t make yourself a judge over other people’s matter and stop drinking panadol for another man’s headache. If you are truly and sincerely concern, go on your knees and pray for that person. Unless you know the whole situation, keep your mouth shut and stop adding to other people’s problem.

If there is one thing you need to master in life inorder for you to succeed, that thing is minding your own business. Minding your own business will bring you peace of mind and rest on every side. You will now have time and energy to focus on your own business and solve your own problems. Don’t forget this; success in any area of life comes with you minding your own business.

Make better use of it now because you will not always have it. What you need to do now, do it so that you will not have regrets tomorrow. Success comes as a result of hardwork. If you are not ready to put in hardwork into what you are doing, you will not succeed in it. Sow your time and money into learning skills and acquiring knowledge that will make you valuable and open doors of prosperity for you.

Instead of spending money on liabilities like expensive clothes, shoes etc that does not add value to your life, invest it in assets like skill acquisition and training. LOVE YOURSELF FIRST BEFORE LOVING OTHERS

QUOTE: Love yourself first, because that is who you will be spending the rest of your life with.

Some few days ago, I saw a trending video of a man who was weeping bitterly for a late friend that died overseas. According to this guy, the late friend died as a result of trying to please everyone must especially his relatives. He worked night and day to his own detriment just to please others and ended up dying prematurely. Who knows if he would have lived longer if he took time to take care of himself while taking care of others? While this is very sad, it is nothing but the reality of what is happening to a lot of people today. They are trying to please everyone whout considering their own happiness. They want to be in everyone’s good book. They don’t want to be labelled black sheep, wicked, selfish blah blah blah.

Let me reinterate this fact. YOU CANNOT PLEASE EVERYBODY and stop trying to. Even those you are trying to please, will still say you are not doing enough or not trying at all. They may not say it to your face but say it behind you. My dear, there is nothing wrong in pleasing or trying to please people. But there is everying wrong without considering yourself when pleasing others. Jesus instructed us to love our neighbour as ourselves. This means that we should first love ourselves before loving our neighbour the same way we love ourselves.

Loving yourself starts with liking yourself, which starts with respecting yourself, which starts with thinking of yourself in positive ways. You have to put your happinness first before others. Put your well being first before others. Let them call it selfishness or whatever. But do it for yourself becuase you do not have another you. It is good to make sacrifces inorder for thers to be pleased or taking care of. It is good to lay down your life for others to achieve freedom and success. It is good to incovenience yourself for others to be comfortable. But never do anything without considering yourself. Wisdom is profitable to direct. Common sense is not common.

There’s this story of a young man who became orphapned as a teenager and was left with three younger siblings to cater for. He did everything in his ability to help them to survive and be comfortable because help was not coming from anywhere. He vowed to do everything for his siblings that his parents would have done if they were alive. He worked hard doing all sort of menial jobs just to send them to school without him going himself. As each of them finished from the university, he helped them to settle down and start their own family without him getting married himself. Luckily for him, he was able to help the last one complete his university education before sickness struck.

This young man was hit by a strange illness which made him bedridden. He needed financial assistant urgently for an operation. He then reached out to his younger siblings who fortunately are now comfortable and doing well. You won’t believe that none of the three siblings could help their elder brother who gave up everything for their well being. Their excuse was that they have their own family responsibilities to take care of. To cut long story short, this young man died because he could not raise money for his medical bill. It was the nurse who he narrated his ordeal to that shared the story for others to learn from. He sacrificed everything for his own people but they could not come to his aid when he needed them even though they could help.

Think about this a little. If he had invested in himself while investing in others he wouldn’t have ended up in that state. If he had taken care of his own needs while doing what he can for others, he would have being alive for a long time and would even be in a better position to help others as the need arise. Demonstrate love by giving it unconditionally to yourself. And as you do, you will attract others into your life who will love you without conditions. Put yourself first. Please yourself before others. Don’t give to others what you cannot give to yourself. Spend time to invest in yourself and find your own happiness. At the end of the day, if others forsake you, like they will always do, you will be left with yourself without much regret. We came to this world alone and we will go alone. Think about it.

RISE ABOVE MEDIOCRITY

Mediocrity means to be average or ordinary in what you do. We are not created to be ordinary in whatever we are doing neither are we made to be average. We are wired by God to be excellent and far above average in all that we do. Nobody archieves excellence or perfection in anything overnight. Excellence comes as a result of hardwork, discipline, dedication and consistent improvement on our given assignment. Excellence begins with a decision that you make to be exceptional in what you are doing. You cannot achieve greatness in anything without making the decision that you want to be great at it. Being excellent comes with a price and sacrifice that must be paid daily in order to achieve it.

What are you currently doing? Are you a student, an employee or a business owner? Can people look at you and say you are very good at what you do? Do you actually do what you do very well to the commendation of others? As a student why settle for 3rd class or second class when you can be a first class student? Those that are first class students did not come from heaven with special brains. We are all created equal. They only work harder, put in more effort to their studies and pay the price that 1st class requires. If you do the same, you will move from 3rd class to 1st class. No student is celebrated or given an award for being 3rd class. Awards are given to 1st class students. You can get it if you make up your mind and change your attitude to your studies.

The difference between mediocrity and excellence is often a matter of effort. There’s always room for improvement in whatever we are doing. As an employee, you can become exceptional and indispensable by given your job the best shot and constantly improving on your skills by learning, re-training and practising. You can make yourself so valuable as an employee that your company will not be able to do without you. And if they cannot do without you, they will pay you higher inorder to keep you and constantly promote you. There’s no rocket science about it. It is just by doing what others are not willing to do and putting in extra effort inorder for you to stand out.

Are you into business and offers products and services to customers? You can only excel and stay relevant for a long time by constantly striving for excellence. Excellence in customer service. Excellence in product delivery. Excellence in branding and packaging. This excellence comes from continous improving on yourself, your attitude, your skills and your understanding/knowledge of your business. It comes by being discipline and dedicated to your tasks. It comes by constantly learning and unlearning on how to improve your products and services. It comes by having excellence as an attitude and saying no to mediocrity.

Each moment spent in mediocrity is a moment lost in greatness. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Take a chance. Take a risk. Find that passion. Rekindle it. Fall in love with it all over again. It’s really worth it. The only way to get out of mediocrity is to keep shooting for excellence and excellence is attainable as long as one did not give up. Mediocrity will ruin your happiness and chances for prosperity. Mediocrity will erase your name from the hallmark of greatness. It will make you to loose favour and good opportunities that will open doors to success. Don’t die a mediocre. Don’t die ordinary. Be counted amoung the best in whatever you do.

BEWARE OF FRIENDS

Friends are wonderful. Friends are good to have and they form a great company. Friends are pillar of strength and support you can rely on when the going gets tough. But friends can be very dangerous. They are even more dangerous than an enemy. When a friend wants to strike, they strike harder and with precision than an enemy. The reason is because they know you. They know your whereabout, your strength, your weakness and some of your dirty secrets that they can use to ruin you when the relationship gets sour.

Always sleep with one eye open. Never take anything for granted. Your best friends might just be your enemies. Be careful who you choose as your close friend. People are not always trustworthy. They can be very good to you because they are benefiting something from you but when they can no longer use you again, they turn to your enemy. So many precious lives have being destroyed by so called friends. You will think they are happy for you when you are making progress in life but the truth is that they secretly envy and are jealous of you. They may not show it but they will be nursing it. When the envy and jealousy mature, they will strike very deep leaving you broken and in a state of unbelieve.

There is nothing wrong in having friends but be wise in letting them know too much about you. Keep people at arms length until you can vouch for their integrity and trustworthiness. Even if you can vouch for them still be very careful becuase people do change. Friends also have a way of influencing you. Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are. Evil communications like they rightly say corrupt good manner. Friends can influence you either positively or negatively. Their lifestyle, their believes, their kind of association can greatly influence you if you are not careful. If you mingle with people who drink and womanize, sooner than later, you will be like them.

If you want to go far in life, try to have few circle of friends. Have friends that are better off than you. Friends you can learn from. Friends who can influence you positively. Friends that can motivate you to achieve greatness in life. Remember the most dangerous creature on this earth is a fake friend.

Immitation is a killer of destiny. Never try to be like anybody irrespective of who that person is. You were created original, why die a photocopy? God made you YOU and He expect that you should be you and not anyone else. The reason most people are depressed and frustrated in life is becasue they are trying to be like someone else. They want to dress like that person. Speak like that person. Do the kind of business or pursue the same career like that person. My dear, that’s photocopy – immitation.

You can never find true success and fulfilment by copying or trying to be like someone else. We are all created equal but with different gifting. My calling and talent is different from yours and I am wired to be able to fulfil my calling. You trying to be like me when you obviously have different calling and gifting, will amount to being frustrated. Becuase you can never be me and I can never be you.

The person who walks in another’s tracks never leaves his own foot print. The easiest thing to be in this world is you. The most difficult thing to be is what other people want you to be. This is one reason you have to find out who you are. Who are you? Why are you here? What is your purpose on earth? Until you find geniune answers to these questions, you cannot live a fulfilled life. Work on discovering yourself and your gifting. Then do everything within your ability to maximize your potentials. Become a man of value then money, success and fame will gravitate towards you. If you don’t have plan for your life, you will become part of someone else’s.

Life is not a competition. We are created different and for different purpose. Don’t strive to be like anybody. Run your own race. Strive to be the best version of yourself. Only then will you find fulfilment and leave your footprint in the sands of time. The person who trims himself to suit everybody will soon whittle himself away. Don’t try to please everybody or you will end up being the greatest fool ever.

Yesterday was Nigeria’s Independence Day, as a professional photographer, I went to cover an event. I have being a professional photographer for over a decade and am good at it. I even train people on photography. Something happened at the event that got me thinking. As I was taking pictures along with other photographers, I ask a colleague just a simple question on why he set his camera flash the way he did, that opened up a tutorial class for me that I never expected. This photographer who happened to have come from another state to cover the same event, taught me so many new things I never knew about camera and flash settings. Here I was, thinking I knew it all. I was humbled. I absorbed all the information, asked further questions and even took his contact inorder to meet him again to learn more.

Learning and unlearning is a life long thing. Once you stop learning, you start dying. Live as if you will die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can, there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did. I always advice young people to always learn new things/skills. Stop wasting time. Invest in knowledge. Use your holidays and weekends to learn new skills. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. When you are constantly learning new things, you are adding value to your life. A time will come when you will become so valuable that people will pay you so much to benefit from your knowledge.

The capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill, the willingness to learn is a choice. Learning is a choice that no one will or should make for you. Don’t allow people or life itself to force you to learn something before you make the decision to learn. Make up your mind to invest in yourself by learning something profitable. There are so many things you can learn. From social media skills, to graphics design, fashion design, computer skills, music, catering etc. The more you learn, the more you earn and the better a person you come.

You can learn from anybody. What matters is the willingness to learn. Anytime you pay someone for a service, you are paying for your ignorance. You pay a tailor to make a dress for you because you don’t know how to do it – Ignorance. When you know how to do so many things, you will pay less to people and save more for yourself. Why you cannot learn everything, you can learn anything you are interested in or choose to learn. Make up your mind to be a learner for life and you will be glad you did.

No one will award a degree to a student who got admitted into a university for a four year programme but decided to drop out at two hundred level. You get a pat on your shoulder for a job well done on the finish line not on the start line.

Persistence is a vital key for success in any endeavour we find ourselves. Things will not always be smooth or go as planned. There will always be one form of obstacle or stumbling block here and there. But you have to persist and stay on course. We are made to persist. That’s how we find out who we are. Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.

What is it that you started but did not finish? Go back to it and finish it. Go back to that school and finish your academic programme. Go back to that gym and continue your exercise programme until you loose that weight and get the kind of body you dream of. Go back to that skill you were learning and perfect it. Go back to that business and make it work. Go back to that your God-given assignment and focus on it until you win a prize.

And if you are currently doing or involved in something but feel like quitting, please do not except that thing will not bring God glory or make you proud. Take a break if you must but don’t quit. Try and analyze your reasons for wanting to quit. Is it reasonable? Will it make you happy and fulfilled? Will it be in the best interest of all the parties involved? If not then don’t quit. Winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win. The truth is nothing is impossible to achieve. The word impossible itself says ‘I’m possible!’. You are built with everything you need to succeed and you will succeed if you persist.

This gift we are talking about is your talent which is your ability to do something very well with ease. People have equal value, but not equal giftedness. God gave you talents to make you valuable and successful. Your talent is God’s gift to you, what you do with it is your gift to God.

It is your responsibility to discover your talent, be skilled at it and use it for profiting and to bless humanity. Discovering and knowing you gift is one thing, being skilled at it is another thing. No matter how talented you are, you will not succeed if you are not skilled. Skill is achieved by training and constant practising. So if you are talented in singing, you can only become successful in it if you are properly trained in the art of singing and you constantly practice.

Training and practice will help to refine, redefine and focus your talent which will then make you successful in it. My admonition to you is to discover your talent and get properly trained in it. Take courses related to it. Attend seminars and workshops. Look for other people that are far better or accomplished in your area of talent and learn from them. Mentoring will take you far and help you to achieve success without making much mistakes and wasting precious time.

Read everything you can find in your area of gifting and continue to practice daily as the case may be. Sooner than you think, that talent, if properly harness, will start putting food on your table and give you a name and a fame.

The Bible says “he that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” This is very true. Waiting for everything to be ready and available is like waiting for the world to come to an end. Start where you are and with what you have.

Wake up bro. Start that business. Retake that exam that you failed. Enrol for that degree. Register for the new skill. Start the exercise and dieting. Start that marriage plan. Start that building project. Take action. Just start anyhow and everything will fall into place.

Remember success does not come over night. It comes over time. So make hay while the sun shines. Make the best use of your time now by doing what you can with the available resources and before long, fortune will smile on you if you did not give up. When God gives the vision, he will make the provision. Just have faith in Him and with time you will navigate through the challenges and have a success story to tell.
