Earlier this December 2021, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo had disclosed this would be paid soon during the budget defence organised by the Senate Committee on Labour and Employment for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Monday, in Abuja.

The Minister had blamed the delay on bank challenges and stated that the FG is committed to fixing the bottlenecks before the end of the year. Keyamo promised that the ministry would ensure that the funds were disbursed before the end of December.
