I think the solution is to do what schools in the UK, USA and others are doing to produce employable graduates. Create conducive learning environment- upgrade classrooms, libraries and laboratories facilities, employ qualified lecturers, train and retrain the existing ones and fund researches adequately. |
It is not for better, for worse... The correct version is for better or for worse, in health or in sickness. The two conditions are mutually exclusive |
Mr Osinbajo, can you tell us where APC got their money for the 2015 election too? |
You are talking about corruption when you doubled as president and minister of petroleum, taking salaries and benefits of both offices, one of which you have not worked for . You are a ghost minister! |
With the way FG is going about securing land in each state of the federation for Fulani herdsmen, one begins to wonder whether cattle rearing is a NATIONAL BUSINESS that brings money into federation account. Help me tell PMB that everybody needs land for one business or the other. Down south here, we have a limited land mass for agriculture, but we have not cry to the north that have vast land to give us land for our agriculture. #PMBSTOPTHATNONSENSE |
If those who claimed to have acquired knowledge, competencies and skills are living like pigs, what do you think they will offer in the larger society after graduation? |
Is leaving about 233 ph.D- bound First Class graduates to die in abroad the best decision a responsible government can take? |
This is sad to hear

When the selection process was not based on merit what did you expect? |
eitsei:I don't think her OAU year one result will be perfect for one reason or the other. |
What did you expect when vacancies in our high institutions are filled based on ethnic sentiment, connection, favoritism, old boys syndrome and the likes? |
There are things called essential services which the government provides for the general public without direct profit motive. The project has many benefits. These include social, economy, human and political. To me, it is a life touching project, many of us go there to watch matches and we all get refreshed. This has a significant effect on our health and well-being. In addition, more money can be generated from government owned facilities such as le meridian, airport and Ibom tropicana entertainment center during match weeks and events at the stadium. Local transporters and business owners equally benefit. More so, many Akwabomites were employed during the construction and they were paid salaries from the said money. Further more, the coming in of football stars from the nooks and crannies of the the world can make youth have contact with role models and get inspiration to become footballers that will be bought billions of dollars in the near future . Having one MESSI in the State worth more than that project. The presence of the stadium has put Akwa Ibom State in the world map and that has a lot of implications for socio-economic development of the State. Few days ago, Awka ibom state was ranked 2nd among the five states in Nigeria that were able to attract fresh foreign investment in the last six months. This was only made possible with the presence of infrastructural facilities. You can't expect investors to come to a state where there are no facilities. Every government spending must not be geared strictly towards profit making, even at personal level, one buys TV, foam, fridge and others not for profit but for comfort. How much more such could be expected of government ? Even in advanced countries more expensive Stadia are built. You can criticize the cost if you have fact but not through hear say as a non-expert in construction projects. On the issue of the donation, I think that is not too much, after all as individuals we may have offered people above 10k on different occasions. How much more that would be expected of a governor who is presenting over 4million people? Don't forget even US and British governments spend billions on Nigeria as aids and grants without complains from citizens not to talk of spending on fellow Nigerians. I urge people to be open-minded and be objective in criticism as intellectuals. NOTE: I'm a Deltan. |
I guess the behaviour must have arose from what NFF president did in Uyo( he shook his head twice with sad expression on his face when they scored goals). YouTube video clip of the game highlighted it. |
ASUU is the cause of this quagmire. First, the demand to remove IGR from TSA is driven by fraudulent intention of using public money for private purpose, which will result in embezzlement, misappropriation, skimming and larceny. Second, top management staff having their wives and relations in the staff primary schools shouldn't be a cogent reason for them to receive salary based on university scale. A primary school remains a primary school irrespective of where it is located and should be treated as such. Third, it has been the attitude of VCs in Nigerian universities to engage in massive recruitment to bring in their relatives, friends, children and allies before they leave office without recourse to availability of cash to pay salaries. Fourth , how can an employee asks for an autonomy in running an employer's organization? In a company, one's investment quantum determines one's controlling right. I thought philosophy and logic is taught by ASUU members. Why are they reasoning poorly? To say the least, our intellectuals act and reason poorly because of greed and selfish interests. ASUU needs to understand that public schools were established by government to render essential services to the general public at little or no cost. |
I think this is a good policy because having 200 and above in UTME does not make a candidate better than his contemporaries in some cases. Some of those high scores may have been gotten through fraudulent means. More so, some who scored low may have been limited by some factors and could graduate with higher grades than some who scored higher in UTME. They should be given a chance ! The policy has a lot of positive educational and economic implications |
Political office holders did not mean well for the educational development of Nigeria because their children will be sent abroad. I can't blame ASUU because the only language the government understands is STRIKE. This government came on board since 2015 and no plan whatsoever has been put forward on how the 800bn will be paid over a period of time. If a tenure is 4 years and two years have gone without any respite in sight then what did you expect from ASUU? A patient dog eats nothing at all in the current Nigeria. If Nigeria can borrow to do less important things, then we can equally borrow to finance education that will bring the great development to us. What is the government doing with excess clude oil revenue? ASUU would not have gone on strike if the government have shown commitment by paying say, 100bn on their own and equally promising to pay the balance over a period. Experience has shown that action is the only thing that can attract government attention and we are reactive in nature. |
Since the man has paid for the said car and title has been transferred, l think Ferrari has no legal standi to take such an action unless it was expressly stated in the terms and conditions that were applied to the purchase. It will be tantamount to a no case submission. |
It was a wrong decision to look for oil in Boko Haram's den when other states with oil potentials are there. You see, we have lost 10 Men! |

PapaNnamdi:I don't know what you think UI is, it is not the school but the person. For instance, there was a student who made a 2.1 in law from ABSU but when they went for law school, she made First Class in her bar final examination when other students from UI, OAU, UNILAG, uniben and the likes with good degrees, some with First Class could not achieved her fit. Ordinarily, one may erroneously conclude that a 2. 1 in ABSU is equivalent to a third class in U. I. Again, my friend had a 2.1 in English from ABSU, but when he went for masters degree in U. I, he was among the 27 students who passed the aptitude test to undertake M. A in English out of the 300 candidates that applied , while some candidates from U. I. and other renowned schools failed the aptitude test. Although, he attended ABSU, the display of his competency in English surprised NYSC officials and the the H.O.D. of the English department where he served. Some people are naturally gifted; they have high intelligent quotient ; they know more than what a professor knows in their field even with a B. SC from a State University. More so, no school has a monopoly of knowledge, it can be acquire from less-recognized schools or from home especially in today's global world. There are people who wrote WAEC from home and did better than people from queens college. Let me also add that U. I. may not take first in Nigeria schools if they do course by course analysis. Many less rated schools may beat U. I. in law, engeering, Accountancy and others. You may have a rethink! |
I paid 90k into that unity bank account before my oral PhD defence and also paid another 89k to the department because the PG school claimed they couldn't access the fund in unity bank. I was told that from the month of July/2017 no PG student will pay to the department again but they will maintain the unity bank account. If our children are left in the hands of corrupt lecturers like the UNIBENS and the others, then Nigeria has no future. EFCC and ICPC, it is time to clean our Ivory towers off this cancerworm. A special whistleblowing platform should be Created for the purpose of nipping the activities of corrupt institutions in bud. |
If grades are to be gotten effortlessly, nobody will go for third class and pass. Grades measures the level of knowledge and commitment in ones' field of study. Even the pass graduates that own businesses will not want to employ graduates like themself but will got 2. 1 and 1st class. Go for the best! |
She is a potential home breaker. Man, wise up if not your marriage is heading to the BERMUDA TRIANGLE |
Governor, please intervene ASAP |
How people have they rewarded? This signals the burial of whistle blowing! |
Okowa lacks vision and mission. He is not doing anything different in his administration that will bring Delta State to an enviable height. I have not seen tangible project he has done or doing two years down the road. To say the least, Delta State has been bereft of quality leaders and she is now CARRYING LAST! |
Iheanacho is not 20years.... He is in his mid thirties... Nigerian players should learn that Pele did not become great by reducing his age.[/quotyou are not his father, uncle or sibling, then on what basis is comment on his age? Must everybody has a baby-face or grow stunted. I guess you are jealous of the young lad because age was the subject matter here |

One can easily score many goals off the field of play but when one is introduced into the real game, one may realize that to score even a goal is not as easy as one thinks off the field of play. One may conclude therefore that it is easier said than done and uneasy lies head that wears the crown. Mr President have you seen it? |
Please Lalasticalala move this to front page |
Please excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa come to our aid. |
