TonyeBarcanista:Answers to the following questions are pertinent: 1. How much did he use to fund these projects claimed to have been executed? 2. Have you transit Ughelli-Asaba road to confirm that claim? 3. If he has done well, why did he pay all civil servants 10k to influence their decision come Saturday? 4. Why did Deltans reject him as VP? 5. What is the total receipts of the State for the seven years plus? 6. What is the state of major cities in Delta State? 7. What are his landmark projects for the 8 years? |

Okowa is a collosal failure in many sectors including education. He suspended the Delta State First Class Scholarship Scheme and scholars who were on the scheme got stranded in foreign countries and most of them dropped out of school at various levels. There is nothing to be fact-checked! The indicators of good governance are elusive in the State even as the highest allocation receiver and 13 percent derivation as well as 5th in internally generated revenue. He cannot be wiser than Deltans! He has been dealt a big blow during the presidential election and come Saturday, his stooges will be given a techical knockout. SAY NO TO BAD GOVERNANCE IN DELTA STATE! 1 Like 1 Share |

All the research they have been doing for donkey years ordinary mosquito coil your lecturers can not produce. Nonsense There are many research findings but nobody is ready to commercialised them. Nigerians are talented people. Recently, Nigerian lecturers had a breakthrough research on vaccine production. https://tetfund.gov.ng/2022/11/19/press-release/ |

It is obvious that many people do not know the job description of a lecturer. The work of a lecturer includes teaching, research and community service. In fact, teaching is rated just 15 percent. You may wish to get the yearly appraisal form and see the ratings of these three areas. Lecturers only suspended 15 percent of their job, so salary cannot be suspended 100 percent. The lecturers carried out the other two aspects of their job while the strike lasted. It is, therefore, childish and ignorant to say that lecturers did not work within the 8 months. It is simple, no payment in arrears, no work in arrears! 1 Like 1 Share |

Your story seems fake! Your family of 6 was using 2500 in the morning, then how come the expense increased to 14-16k with the addition of 5 persons? 8k or less can feed those persons in a day! Your wife's twin sister should go back to her parents' house. |
Politics / Re: Okowa’s Non-Payment Of School Retirees Is Leading Teachers To Early Graves by profudus(m): 2:22pm On Sep 27, 2022 |
Okowa is a selfish and wicked Governor; he does not have the interest of Deltans at heart at all! Delta State is the highest allocation receiver among the 36 States of the federation, highest 13 percent receiver and second highest amoung indebted states in Nigeria. However, he could not initiate and complete any landmark project in the State for two terms even as he has ground some of the projects of his predecessors. For example, he ground the state transportation system, the Delta State First Class scholarship and others because of political differences. When you go to Warri, Ughelli, Asaba and others there is no visible hand of his administration. Ughelli-Ozoro-Asaba road has remained abandoned. Okowa needs to tell Deltans what he used the billions he borrowed and Delta State allocation for! Based on Okowa poor performance, he may not be able to win Delta state for PDP. 1 Like 2 Shares |
Education / Re: ASUU’s Insistence On 6-Month Salary Stalling Negotiations – Federal Govt by profudus(m): 8:01am On Aug 19, 2022 |
The work that would have been done by lecturers within the six months is still undone and ASUU members are expected to do it. However, if FG insists on non-payment of the six months salaries, then lecturers will start a new session, leaving the work for the last 6 months for government to do. It is no use bringing non-payment of salary at this time because it will be resisted by ASUU. After all, the strike was declared by ASUU due to FG failure in implementing agreement reached in 2020. 3 Likes |

Jamesz12: I don't think you really know what an educational system is ! May be you think an educational system only means infrastructure. However, an educational system comprised lecturers, students, facilities and other stakeholders with diverse interests( pay, knowledge, certificates, quality, etc.) . The human resource (teaching and non-teaching staff) is the pivot on which the wheel of the educational system rotates. No matter how qualitative or good material resources ( classrooms, libraries, laboratories, etc) may be, they cannot on their own translate to a good educational system because they cannot deliver lectures to students that will result in certification - students' interest. It seems students do not want their teachers to be well- paid, but do not forget you may become a lecturer tomorrow. When lecturers are not well-paid and mistreated, they will not be motivated to do their job as expected and students will be graduated half-baked and the system could eventually collapse. So be broad minded when commenting on issues. 2 Likes |

South-East cannot impose its agenda on Delta State, the finger of God and Big heart. Even if Nigeria wants to disintegrate, Delta State we never be part of Biafra but Niger Delta Republic. It is good the government has sounded the warning. More so, ESN, UGN or anything they called themselves has no monopoly of violence as they could be termed apprentice where Militants are. Do you know that Militants can also reciprocate by imposing some restrictions on Onitsha too? For your information a typical Delta man is ready to defend himself anytime, any day even without government intervention. We Deltans, rejected your agenda in totality. It is laughable for a mere cyclist to double-cross a trailer driver. What will happen to the cyclist could be better left in the imagination. If you do anyhow, you will see anyhow! 1 Like |

I don't know why people think it is only when they submit their degrees for a specific job that they make use of them. The paper issued at the end of a formal educational programme is just an evidence of attendance, but the knowledge, skills and experiences acquired in the process are domiciled in the individual, which could be put to use by the individual without the submission of the paper. I wish to tell you that even if your certificates were not submitted for your current job, you are actually making use of the creativity skill, critical thinking skill, analytical skill, technical skills, conceptual skill, communication skill, human relation skill, knowledge and experiences acquired in the course of acquiring those certificates in the current job. The process of acquiring those certificates has made you a better person. The modern purpose of education is not to acquire certificates that will enable individuals to look for already-made jobs, but to acquire knowledge and skills that could make individuals create jobs for people and proffer solutions to mankind's problems. Are you saying that you did not acquire knowledge and skills in the course of acquiring those certificates? If so, it is an indirect indictment of the institutions and bodies that awarded you those degrees! Honestly, I think you have a wrong mind-set about education. 4 Likes |

I think we have to be realistic in this matter and provide answers to the following pertinent questions: 1.Are the required material resources for the implementation of e-learning available for institutions, lecturers and students at the moment? 2. Is there stable power supply in all the nooks and crannies of this country or lecturers and students will be expected to use their generators? 3.Are there support facilities or lecturers and students are expected to buy them in this critical time? 4. Has training been conducted for staff to acquaint them with some technical skills and modus of operations? 5. Are there free internet facilities for both lecturers and students? 6. Who will bear the cost of implementing the e-learning? |

Some educated people reason like people in the bear parlour. You think China doctors will come to Nigeria with the aim of effecting people with corona virus? Forget the fake rumours in the social media, the China doctors are here for good! We don't need to wait till when corona virus overwhelm us before we act. The virus originated from their country and is no longer spreading there and as such, they know what our doctors do not know about the virus. Asking a more knowledgeable country to help us out in time like this is a step in right direction. #Think objectively before conclusion. 1 Like |
Crime / Re: Lockdown: Angry Residents Beat Delta State Taskforce Officials, Today by profudus(m): 7:54pm On Apr 01, 2020 |
In Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs, physiological needs( food, shelter, water, air etc) come before the safety needs(Physical safety and Health). It is worth nothing that without satisfying the need for food, people cannot think of their health needs. This is why countries like USA, Canada among others came with palliative measures to cushion the effects of stay-at-home order on their citizens. If you have enough at home for yourself and your family, you may not understand the plight of the common man on the street and may quickly condemn their actions. Do not forget that he that wears the shoe knows where it pinches, a hungry man could do anything; he knows no law and could take irrational decisions just have a loaf of bread to satisfy his hunger. The stay-at-home order should be accompanied with basic food items for the people if not it will result in increase in social vices and breakdown of laws. 1 Like |

Everybody is just talking about rich people not being philanthropic like Mane. Forgetting that when you point a finger at somebody, the others will be pointing at you. Even with our little means in life we can show the spirit of a philanthropist by supporting people using different ways and things. We can actually start from somewhere; giving N100, 200... and other life support things to people in need is one way of doing this. If you can't do it now with your little means you may not be able to do it even when you become richer than Mane. # Be a philanthropist at your own level. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

What do you expect in a state where activities that degrade and erode our values, norms and ethics are promoted by government officials and traditional rulers? Nowadays, the worth of an individual in a community is reduced to the weight of his bank account /pocket. For example, government suspended the First Class scholarship to graduates indefinitely and schorlars returned home without completing their programmes in top universities all over the world citing paucity of fund as the reason for it's decision. However, the same government rewarded immorality in the name of reality show and engaged in other spending spree with millions of naira at the very watch of the public. Education has been relegated to the background in the State up to the extent that even children will ask you : who school help? They no longer wish to become medical doctors, pharmacist, lawyers or accountants but G-BOYS and GIRLS. Government, traditional rulers, parents, religious leaders and significant others have a lot to do in determining societal values and failure of society is their failure as well. |

This administration has got its strategies in fighting Boko Haram wrongly. 1. Boko Haram commanders were released in exchange for chibok girls, which strengthened their fighting strengths. 2.Billions of Naira were used as ransom for chibok girls there by empowering them financially. 3. Purported repentants Boko Haram members who were captured by the military were released into the society . 4. Released Boko Haram members were recruited into the Nigerian Army, which portends a great danger. 5.1b$ withdrew for the purpose of fighting Boko Haram has not been used for the said purpose leaving our gallant men in precipice. 2 Likes |
Business / Ecobank Frustrating The E-banking System In Nigeria by profudus(m): 4:10pm On Dec 04, 2018 |
I have had terrible experiences with ecobank on several occasions. Whenever I'm wrongly debited, it becomes a herculean task to have the transaction reversed. I was wrongly debited 14000 over a month now but they refused to credited my account after filling forms on two occassions at two different branches . I have been debit for recharge cards on three occasions without getting the airtime. I'm thinking of sueing them. My questions to fellow Nairalands are : Is this what you are experiencing in your bank?, Which Nigerian bank do you recommend for me? |

Education / Misconception About 'reason Why' And 'extreme End' by profudus(m): 2:12pm On Aug 25, 2018 |
Unfortunately, many Nigerian writers, some of whom are notable teachers of English Language, consider 'entreme end' and 'reason why' as tautological, by so doing misleading some learners. You may be flabbergasted to kwn that it is acceptable to say: the extreme end of the road - Cambridge International Dictionary, PP. 487 and Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, PP. 481. More so, the 'reason why' I'm late is that I missed the Bus-Oxford Advanced learner's Dictionary. Note: reason is often followed by for, that or why. |
