Nobody will even offer that your neighbour a nursing or midwifery job without a pin. Which means she must first pay 140£ for an eligibility pin, do verification, write IELTS, write NIMC CBT exams, pass all these then get her UK licence PIn, then apply for a job, then do her OSCE. She won't even spend 2 weeks before getting a job. Who will employ her with her Nigerian license? Even a Nigerian hospital is not allowed to employ a UK graduate of nursing in any Nigerian hospital without first writing exams to obtain Nigeria license. Tell your neighbour to do all these and see how jobs will be rushing her. Nursing is a job that is almost guaranteed in this UK.
If she has done her CBT and IRLTS in Nigeria, she can work as a Band 3 Nurse or Nursing assistant in a care home or NHS. With time she can do her OSCE and get her PIN

Yes,like 2 months now.i got a white collar for over 50k pounds.
How does that invalidate what I said about tithe?
Omo make una no vex o, this is not bad bellerism or jealousy. But I just dey wonder say for this nairaland everybody dey earn above 50k. E dey surprise me say nobody here dey earn the average UK pay or even below because all the salary we dey see na 50k and above. Na so someone say him dey earn £49k but the money no dey reach do anything cos him dey repay debt to the wife for bringing him to the UK. The advice he got on this thread is to dust his CV and look for a higher paying job.

To those who are still trying to settle and manage their life in the UK, no let all this big figures for this thread make you come dey put unnecessary pressure on yourself or look down on your current hustle o. E get why. With time, everywhere go stew.

I say make I drop my own 2 cent from my monthly one tenth 😀

omo i don focus on cleaner and kitchen right now.... sure they are like asking for experience. but not all.
but i haven't been callee yet for interview. its been two weeks now i have been applying for that one.

more also let me keep applying from now till November end and see what comes up.

if you have anyone in uk who can referer someone in care.. so i will just have an experience in it... cos one agency was asking for training experience and 3 month stay in uk although i was referred by someone to the agency.
Guy I have told you to leave indeed and look for recruitment agencies in your area and call them. They will get you a job immediately. Where do you stay in the UK

you didn't see the UK experience i talked about? are u in UK.

well i have don the above severally still waiting. the few i talked to are demanding for 150 pounds or more and i have spent almost 600 pounds already.
You don't need UK experience for a warehouse operative or cleaning job. All you need is your right to work share code, your BRP, National Insurance number and you are good to go. You should have all these documents as a legal resident. You may require three months UK experience or more for Care jobs or white collar jobs.

However, if you have experience in Naija, there are transferable skills you can add to your CV and apply for office roles. Getting white collar jobs isn't easy but perseverance, and taking apprenticeship roles with lower pay can help you get the much needed UK experience.

Listen to advice and you will be fine

I live in the UK and I am talking from experience. Go on Google, let's say you live in Chichester, type recruitment agencies in Chichester. You will see a list of recruitment agencies, call their number and tell them the type of job you want and that you want to start immediately. You are sure to get a job to start same day or few days later at most.

Do this and thank me later. Follow who know road, you no go lost or find it hard in the Uk

This is not applicable to everyone though especially students, they have to apply for it separately.
But the OP said she came into the country a month ago, that means she isn't on a student visa

Hi. Goke. Thank you so much for your encouragement. I did share proof of applying for NIN.

Any idea how long it takes for the HRMC/UK to get back to me on the NIN. I felt kind of bad because I had some rejections at the application stage before now. Anyway, I will continue to apply and I trust God for good news. I am a Sis though even though I am a Son of God. grin
I don't understand the NIN you are talking.about.
Is it the National Insurance Number at the back of your BRP?

Why apply for NIN when you already have it on your BRP or is it a different NIN you are referring to?

Any CCTV footage?

Did she document her last encounter with him properly?

I have someone who was just cleared after 11 months last week. The old woman accused him of handling her breasts. Old woman wey don dey reach 90 o.
These wicked people kept postponing their so called panel even after police had done their own investigations and cleared him.

We prayed o

He also started writing petitions.

So it could be a long journey anyhow.

A second guy was framed by his co-workers (white dudes) that they saw him force-feeding a resident.

That one just got called off after 5 months...

So just make sure her documentation has no loophole.
The man didn't complain to her, there was no incident to document except the normal service she provided the man which was documented.

Hi guys, Please a friend needs advice. She is a carer in a care home. One of the nurses said she recieved a complaint about her from a resident. The resident said she pin him to the wall, rough handled him and he felt scared for his life. She said nothing like that ever happened and in fact the man even praised her that she was one of the best carers to attend to him and always commend her effort everyone. But she was shocked at the sudden change of tone. There was no bruise or anything physical on the resident. However, she said the nurse in question hated her so much and have told many lies about her to the manager to get her sacked. The same nurse had previously made the owner to sack an African carer and she is the only African carer left they were just 2 before.

The issue is the resident is saying he is contacting his lawyers ( she believes the nurse is pressurising him to do so). The owner sent her a letter postponing her regular review until she hears from her lawyers.

Please what do you advise my friend to do cos she is worried.

This is wrong, you need a passport to apply. Your COS must include your passport expiration date, which have to reflect in your visa application.

The question of weda they accept an expired passport is another thing altogether which I can't confirm or deny, but you need your passport details to apply.
For me, I changed my Visa from one employer to another and didn't use my passport nor did i do biometrics. My brp was all I used and I used the biometrics app downloaded from playstore for my biometrics.

I’m sorry my friend. Naija license can never be in that category.

Maybe in the next 100 years sha grin
That's not right. Aside transparency of the process, one primary reason you can't swap a Nigerian Drivers licence with the UK is because of the right hand drive issue. Nigerian trained drivers would need additional training to learn RHD. Zimbabwe licence and some other African country can be swapped with UK license because they drive in the same Right Hand.

If Nigerian license is that bad, then they wouldn't allow Nigerian trained drivers drive on their roads for one year with their Nigerian license.

We no say naija no good but make we self dey calm down when criticising. Their many positives the country has

Update on my house inspection which was carried out today. I took the advice of not repainting the affected rooms but I also did something different which yielded good result. I saw a DIY video of how to remove crayon stains and dirt from wall using either toothpaste or baking soda. I tried colgate toothpaste and surprisingly the crayon marks and stains were wiped off. I used the baking soda and it was amazing and with very minimal effort. I just mixed with water, applied on the stained portion and wipe it off with a towel.

The inspection agent came and didn't notice anything. We discussed other repair work and that's it.

You can find a video of this process below

Only if you can get the same exact type of paint in terms of the hue and it’s not such a large area.
Otherwise get a handy man to do the job with same shade.
My own case was worse with the scribbling on the wall. Luckily for me, one time I travelled and before I returned a pipe had burst in the bathroom. This leaked to the whole house and got to the walls and soaked everywhere.
No one was in house cus of the travel, by the time we returned there was mould build up. Reported to the agents so they came and tidied everything upto repainting.
I stylishly asked the builders for some paint when they were working on the bad areas. I used this paint and covered all the abominable acts these tiny humans did on the walls. I didn’t even use the 2 paint products they were using. As it was exact same shade my whole work came out perfect even though I have no painting nor redecoration experience. I moved out of the property and all was seemless.
Okay bro. I might as well leave it that way and face the music. My insurance company however said the insurance covers carpet or wall stains by kids and damage to furniture

You might make matters worse by painting. Some landlords will take issue with you painting without obtaining permission from them. They might also say it wasn't done by a professional or up to standard even if you call angel Michael to do the painting for you, so it might be best to leave it and bite the bullet.
Okay bro

you cant just think of leaving your deposit. If it was deposited with a scheme, you can fight back for it. The scheme will only pay them what they are really due and take several things to account including how long a building should stay before getting repainted. They will only award for half life etc
Please is it advisable I repaint the wall with the same paint. The letting agent is waiting for an appointment date but I don't haven't given him yet

Hi guys, my letting agent sent a mail yesterday that they are coming for inspection of the property. Currently, my kids have stained some part of the wall in the sitting room and the carpet is stained but i can easily pay someone to come watch it spotlessly. Would it be right to paint the wall using the same paint? How long notice can I give them to come and do the inspection? I am also paying regular insurance for the property which amounts to £10,000 for stained wall, carpets or damage furniture and I haven't missed a payment since I moved.

What should I expect from the inspection as well?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the explanation. My company has given me the code for free. But I am having a bit of difficulty setting up my account with Access NI (www.nidirect.gov.uk/apply-for-an-enhanced-check-through-a-registered-body). I was only able to get the email confirmation code and not the mobile phone confirmation code after several attempts. And without these confirmation codes, I can't successfully get the activation link to apply for an account and register. I have written to the nidirect account support at (nida@nidirect.gov.uk ) but no response yet. I have also spoken with the customer care-at (tel:+44-300-200-7814 ) and yet it has not been resolved. I don't know if I can leave out the mobile phone confirmation code part because it seems an integral part for the identity checks. A message popped up when I tried to continue without a mobile number saying "this process will take longer" without a mobile phone confirmation. Please what do I do?
Is the company aware you are still in Nigeria? And are they offering you sponsorship? If they are aware you are in naija, I don't think the Enhanced DBS is needed to fulfil your visa requirement. However, a police character certificate will suffice. The DBS check is done when you get to the UK and covers both your time in the UK and abroad.
