If 20% of Nigerian girls behave like this girl do you think people will chastise you all? Accountability is most times alien to most women, it has become a big issue holding people accountable for their bad behaviors? Unlike women men don't support a man that isn't doing the right thing.

I would have said the dude is right if all the only thing the lady offers is sex and nothing else but it seems she is not like you so the dude is wrong to look her that way. I have always said a lady who doesn't want to do sex shouldn't also do money in the relationship both parties should only talk and know themselves but no spending and no sex should come together.

The dude messed up if she is willing to share finances after putting no sex relationship.
Who and who is chastise you all? Like the audacity some of you have on this forum to box everybody up with your pathetic realities is nauseating! See mouth like chastise you all... Delusions of grandeur!Lol

I stopped reading at first line...abeg get out!

No way! It was my first car too, I was 22, naive, and desperate to leave the country at the time. I still regret it though. Op has to be really careful as any wrong decision may come back to bite him in the butt and more so, considering that he has a family.
I understand.. with time you will get over it (hopefully)

May God be with Op. We have tried with helping him to dissect his issue grin grin

I agree with you. I once sold a car to pay for college in the UK and never realized it was a scam college. Lost all the money after the college was shut down.

It would be a completely different scenario if op were to use the car for Uber or other means of cash flow generation. Remember he still has a N500k debt to settle and, in this present economy, he may not be able to find a lender for that sum.
Me too, I do not subscribe to the ideal of selling properties except as a last resort in order to improve cashflow.
That's heartbreaking... Sorry about that. I can only imagine how you must have felt. I sold my guitar in 2016 till today I still feel the pain of parting with it. Anytime I remember I feel a spare pierced through my heart. Not that I can't get another but it was my first property I got by myself with my savings grin

So we can agree Op has two options, either he converts his car to commercial use. Or he sells it. He has a very high chance of regretting the later though. cheesy

Sapasenator:
Op is moving to his own house with a shop in front for his wife so he will not be paying rent unless I misunderstood the article. The op does not have a steady cashflow unless he gets the next contract while the wife is doing nothing. In other to get the family cash flow running reason the op is talking about starting a business for his wife. The big concern here is the viability of the business and the real possibility of losing the N1m.

You make good points too.
Oh... I missed that! Then 1m should go a long way if starting cost is limited to stocking the shop. However, I still don't agree with selling his car at least not now.
1) Op still wishes to use car, the chances of getting another is slim
2) Car is useful to them, he can use it for transport or Uber if he's up for it.
3) I generally do not buy the idea of selling properties to get things done. If he was investing or expanding his business it's considerable but starting a business? nahhh
FamilyRe: In A Confuse State, Advice Needed by Proserpina: 9:25pm On Oct 29, 2024
Sapasenator:
Cars are depreciable assets whose values go down with time. They never appreciate my dear and are not like properties. In pragmatic terms, if the car is not directly producing money, It would be a liability for the op and he needs to pay his debts of N500k.

With careful planning and a good business plan, he may be able to turn around the N1m.
That's true coming from another angle but imagine selling the car last year, it wouldn't be the same value he would now if he's selling. You are coming from a stable economy perspective while my approach is different.

1m is a big money no doubt but has a very low purchasing value in our recent economy. Getting a good shop in a good location can cost 200-350k to start with. Then you fix electricity ,decorate it to be attractive etc . And if the business includes importation that one na die. grin

Op should pack his car somewhere, when things go down he can sell but for now if he doesn't want to lose all, he should relax.

Selling his car to pay off debt sounds extreme, I'm focusing on that because that's the only constant I can see here.

FamilyRe: In A Confuse State, Advice Needed by Proserpina: 8:42pm On Oct 29, 2024
Do not sell your car, I repeat do not sell your car! The only and urgent need you have is 500k debt it shouldn't be a reason to sell a car worth 3million . There's no guarantee that business will thrive, and that 1 million naira left with you is not sustainable either. Look for a way to clear your debt and let your asset be.

The value for your car may increase in the future and running a business may be easier then. For now please stay away from selling your properties with the hope of starting a business.

Why didn't he run for safety?

How can a 28 years old lady overpower a 31 years old man?

I have not heard the woman's side of the story, how can I judge?

Finally, you yes you who support domestic violence when women are victims, how do you feel reading this post now that a man is a victim?

Or wait till you travel out to countries you can hold people accountable if they mismanage your business. Where there are professional managers with intention to grow your business and grow their portfolios. In Nigeria, it's how they will make sure you don't remember you own the business is what they will be looking for.

No educated hausa person would agree to be hired for menial jobs. Their education is like a golden ticket capable of getting them a job in all federal government parasatals.

I was targeting secondary school leavers. Since they would most likely be teenagers, their eyes no go too open like that.
Running a business is not a menial job Naz. By running I don't mean the workers but the person who sees to the entire affairs of the business. Getting workers is easy, getting a Manager isn't.

Hausas have proven to be considerate and loyal, I'm saying this base on experience that's why I suggested that. But you need an educated one if you want your company to be up to standard and date.

In all, If you know you won't be there to run it, abeg abort. People are just to self-centered and callous these days. I'm also speaking from experience, I lost a lot to that this year.
