Nairaland General › Looking Back At The Rich Yoruba History Of Jos North In Plateau State. by PROVERBZ(op): 8:50am On Sep 06, 2021 |
Even tho it does not seem like it anymore, but there used to be a small flourishing Yoruba community right at the center of Jos north. Yoruba people started immigrating to Jos north the capital of plateau state as far back as the 1840s, Way back. Even before Igbo people started moving from the south east to Jos.
Of course they flourished, were successful. A little investigation by me and I was able to discover that a number of the early modern buildings in the heart of the city (around ahmadu Bello way, terminus) were and are still owned by Yoruba people whoses ancestors built them. For those of you who live in Jos north you would agree with me that that area serves as the central business district of the city.
So the question that should be asked that no one is asking right now is: Why does it seem like there weren't so many Yoruba people in the city of Jos like it used to be now adays? And the answer takes us back to November of the year 2008.
So what happened? I'm going to give detailed analysis of what happened for those. Who don't already know. Just leave a comment of follow the thread so that u get notified when I do. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Isah In The Quran Is Not The Same Person As Jesus Christ. by PROVERBZ(op): 7:36am On Sep 06, 2021 |
haekymbahd: I know the Bible is the only thing you beleive in of what essence is me quoting the Quran for you when you don't beleive it.
Jesus was a messenger sent by the Almighty and he himself had completed the assignment given to him by God Almighty. Hence this was the summary of his teaching
John 17 3 And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.
4 I have glorified You down here on the earth by completing the work that You gave Me to do
How many of the Jewish christians whom he was persecuting who knew Jesus accepted Paul. They were called Nazarenes (ebionites) why do you think Paul went to a non isrealite (Antioch)nation to convert gentiles who didn't know anything about Jesus and change the name to Christianity to disaccociate from the Jewish christians. Hence there are little or no christians in isreal till date.
Jesus had completed his assignment and had sent disciples so who sent Paul a persecutor of Jewish christians who did not even meet Jesus alive and claiming to know more than the Jewish christians..
Any message that differ from the above John 17:3-4 is the message of the Antichrist...
Prophet isah was sent by God Almighty while Jesus sent himself hence calling himself God Almighty to his followers. So Muslims must make sure Islam is not associated with christianity. Jesus is not God Almighty rather he was sent by God Almighty... where are the supposed Jewish Christians that are the real Muslims according to you? My problem with arguing with Muslims is that they are not even certain of their claims. Ok u are of the Muslims school of thought that the problem is from Paul, that means that Peter, John , Luke, Matthew etc were legit. Ok my questions is: islam said Jesus was not curicified instead he was replaced by a look alike and went somewhere without coming out for the rest of his life. But theses people say he was crucified. Are they also telling lies. Paul did exactly what Christians were asked to do and if u follow the stories of the other disciples you would know that they did the same thing. The main command to Christian is called the great commission by chrsit himself. Which Iw to go to the gentiles and preach. |

LeSudAfricaine: Are these girls all Nigerians based? I mean do they all reside in Nigeria? We don't want Nigerian Americans, British Nigerians etc. Girls from the South African thread are all from SA, if they are in not they either come from SA. We want to see girls from Edo, Jos, Calabar etc those places , it gives us a better idea of the girls that side. Let's make that a criteria. yes all off them. Even tho there are alot of Nigerian baddies mom and dad that reside in other countries, I've chosen to ignore. But if there is a Nigerian girl mixed with what ever that lives in Nigeria I'm going to post it. Suzan pwajok

Vlain: We are coming up very fast.nollywood needs to get in partnership with big production houses like Warner bros, universal pictures and the likes for adequate funding and global marketing to a wider audience. I see that happening very soon.I mean we were the first to give africa access right to have their movie on Netflix. Movies here are mostly self funded and that the problem. Also we need to improve in the quality of stories we tell not the same ol’ crap. And I have seen this changes over the years, but we can only hope for more as that is not enough.I hope to see the quality of the story greatly revolutionized.African have our stories and we can interpret and tell them in a world class standard not what befit the average local Nigerian or African.
For SA ,obviously ur production is better.because u get to work with this global production houses.but my qualms with tall is that you do t stay true to ur African story(at least the ones I have wat he’d happens to go this way) .you try so hard to sound, act and behave Hollywood that u fail so badly at it. It’s hard to connect with ur stories, save for maybe those very few ones they show on African magic. Take Queen soon for example,it’s was a charade and I am not going to lie. I remember I could barely go past the 3rd episode and I gave up. The accent, mannerisms, body movement was wack.all this was in a bid to sound and look so Hollywood and u lost touch of ur African heritage and still couldn’t represent the American culture as well. same story with me and blood and water or is it sand. I've watched only a few south African stories and the ones I really liked where Mr bones, seriosulsy single and sarafina. |

AfriqueDuZuid: Nollywood has potential, if yall put more money into production, and make bigger budget films nollywood is already big it's not always about budget. Lots of Caribbean kids grew up on nollywood, even so many black British that are not necessarily Nigerians. Nigeria has influence. I always say this to people in the African football circle. I say 'afrhcan football continental tournaments like CAF champions league and confederations cup are relatively unknown outside of Africa because Nigeria is not doing well in that aspect' |
Politics › Re: Abia State Govt Set To Commence Phased Redevelopment Of Ariaria Market by PROVERBZ(m): 4:25pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
AkachiNwog: Government Special Announcement
Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved the commencement of phased redevelopment of Ariaria International Market, Aba, from Sunday, 5th September, 2021.
Recall that the administration has made several efforts to reconstruct the 47-year old market in order to tackle its age-long structural issues with many of the shops as well as provide the necessary modern infrastructure to deal with the perennial flooding challenges particularly with A-Line while delivering other amenities like befitting car parks, conveniences, beautification of the surroundings, improved fire fighting capacity and such other facilities to our traders.
A cabal in the market that had been profiting from its current state had sought to place unnecessary legal and other obstacles on the path of government’s efforts and had hampered previous attempts at commencing works in the market in April 2021, but in the interest of overwhelming public good, we are compelled to go ahead with redevelopment efforts in one of the foremost markets in the country.
In recent days, different social media platforms have been inundated with uncomplimentary videos of flooded A-Line that obviously also endangers traders and shoppers alike while bringing the government into public odium. No responsible government will, in the face of such images making the rounds on social media, sit back and watch without taking appropriate actions to deliver the much needed solution as quickly as possible.
Consequently, after a final consultative meeting with stakeholders of Ariaria International Market on Tuesday, 24th August, 2021, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the phased redevelopment of the market as follows:
1. Traders currently doing business along A-Line, C-Line and Medical Line are to relocate from their shops on or before close of business on Saturday, 4th September, 2021 to enable the commencement of work the following day, Sunday, 5th September, 2021.
2. Those affected are to temporarily relocate to Ekumi Shopping plaza or other available shops within the market.
3. The developers have committed to completing the required work in the phase which includes establishment of proper drainage channels within the affected lines, construction of new shops and parks, before the first week of December 2021.
4. Abia state government will through subsequent press releases publish the names of existing shop allottees who are guaranteed of their return to the reconstructed shops after completion of the first phase. It is important to state that no existing shop allottee will lose his/her shop after the work.
5. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is expected to personally hand back new allocation papers to all the existing allottees on Friday, 5th December, 2021.
6. Trading activities are expected to continue in other lines that are not affected by the first phase of the redevelopment project while the appointed developers, Messrs Blessed Henkel International Company, are expected to work with the market committee and security agents to ensure full security within the market during the period of redevelopment.
Government wishes to assure traders that it will work to ensure minimal disruptions to trading activities while executing this project which has now been made more urgent and crucial because of the recent flooding forecast from the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, NiMet.
We will also not in any way tolerate any attempt by any individual or group to disrupt the planned work as we have consulted widely enough and given enough grace period, long before now, for alternative solutions which never yielded any meaningful result.
Finally, we solicit the understanding and support of all Abians as we restate our commitment to delivering a modern market to our people.
Thank you.
Chief John Okiyi Kalu Honorable Commissioner for Information, Abia State 28/08/2021 it's not a lie bro. I was very surprised to see the story online here. In my school in port Harcourt a boy was hosting us about his boy boy days at the market and he told us this story like a month ago. The whole story is just complex and long. The government has tried to relocate the medicine line but various factions are fighting for power and they have tugs easily available. |
