Yes I did all of that,
I have uploaded a screen shot of the unlock msg I got in my initial post.
The message was written in Chinese, I don't what means, but I tried unlocking 8 days ago.
I tried again today.

Thanks have gone through the bootloader unlock link, when I clicked on the UNLOCK link, I did not see any application form only the usual DOWNLOAD AND UNLOCK button, which I have already downloaded and tried.
I used the Mi unlock in the Zip file.

Could it be the waiting period for Redmi Note 8?

Apart from the Dolby Atmos, you no longer need to unlock bootloader to use Gcam by the way. If you included that remove it.

Ok, Dolby Atmos is top priority for me, thats why I want to root the phone.

Have you done all the preliminaries that need to be done on the phone? Try another mi unlock version that operates in English language. If you get the message "Couldn't Unlock" and not "Try again after 168 hours" or something like that after stopping at 99%, then something is not right.

Yeah I believe I have followed all the steps, I already waited for 8 days.
Opened a Mi account,
Installed the USB drivers on my PC
Enabled USB debugging on my phone in the developers option
added the account on my phone
Fastboot

I even used an older version of the Mi unlock tool (Version 1 or so), that did not work.

But am yet to use the current English version of the Mi unlock tool. could this be the issue?

I have been following this thread silently.
I recently got the Redmi Note 8, I tried unlocking the bootloader but got the message "COULD'NT UNLOCK" with some Chinese inscriptions.
So i thought I will have to wait for 7 days before i could unlock, which i did.
I tried it again after 7 days and i got the same message and Chinese inscriptions. Since its not in English I dont know what it means.
I use my email to log into my account I registered with.
I have added the message i get and the Mi unlock version in the pictures below.

My purpose for wanting to root my phone is for Dolby atmos (my former Gionee phone beats this beast in terms of music output by a country mile, I cant do without good sound production which the RN8 lacks), and GCam.

Pls any assistance will be highly appreciated.

I was watching this video in tears! I've experienced racist policing before and so, I know the pain. It cannot be compared to a father or a mother watching a son being brutally murdered by police on video.

Redmi Note 8T: Has all the Band 28, out of the box 18W vharger and NFC absent on the Redmi Note 8, it is slightly longer and loses a notification LED present on the Redmi Note 8.

That aside they have the same Processor, cameras.

Note 8t has NFC, Note 8 dont, I think thats the main difference.
